JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Salary: Purpose: IT Support Team Leader Point 29 ( 22,511 per annum) on the Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Scale. To work as part of a team to assist staff and students in using all forms of IT equipment in the college, and assist in the running and development of the college IT infrastructure. Specifically to take responsibility for managing the Helpdesk function, ensuring tickets are actioned by the CCIT Team and resolved or escalated where appropriate. Also to take responsibility for managing the setup and support of IT used during college events throughout the year. Responsible to: Liaising with: The Principal through the Head of Information Systems and Network Manager. All staff and students, including the Head of Information Systems, Network Manager and technical colleagues in particular. Main Duties and Responsibilities 1.0 User management: Providing first and second line support technical support for staff and students Creation of new user accounts, including user folders and shares Diagnosing user faults eg logon issues, profile faults, permission errors Resetting passwords Email configuration and mailbox creation 2.0 Hardware: Configuration and installation of new/replacement PC, server, and peripheral hardware, including printers, whiteboards, projectors, scanners etc. Provide support for the college Apple macs Installation and support of new networking hardware eg switches, wireless access points Network fault diagnosis Provide Audio\Visual equipment support for college events, both internal and external Access information on the CCTV system as required and produce copies for Senior Management team, and police as required. Ensure all CCTV equipment is operating correctly and report any faults to the Network Manager Assisting in the distribution and support of college loan equipment

Checking and maintaining the tidiness of cables and peripherals Maintenance of the college Asset Management System 3.0 Software: Package software for deployment using technologies such as App-V and MSI Support of installed applications assisting in diagnosing software faults Assisting the Network Manager in ensuring software license compliance Manage & update door access control system Perform patch/upgrade testing as part of the college patch management processes Ensure security of IT infrastructure y maintenance/monitoring of antivirus, patching and network monitoring Undertake proactive research into system upgrades Management and configuration of the college wireless and telephone systems 4.0 General: Log and respond to calls on the helpdesk and where required escalate to the Network Manager Provide telephone, email and face to face support Prioritize tickets Issue photographic ID to staff and students Design and implement technical projects Write and maintain system documentation Maintain a clean and organised working environment at all times Stock maintenance and resupply ensuring at all times the college has the appropriate stocks of spares and parts, including paper, toner and organising resupply as appropriate Obtaining quotes from suppliers as requested To arrange for the digital recording of TV and other media encoding as requested by staff, ensuring full compliance with licensing agreements To undertake any other duties the Principal or designated alternate may reasonably direct from time to time within the context of the Loreto College contract Assist in other areas of the IT network as required: monitor/maintain web filtering & security devices, procure equipment Liaise with external support suppliers to resolve issues as required Ensure that regular room checks are performed as part of college procedures Ensure that Helpdesk Tickets are handled promptly, escalated when required and kept up to date Out of hours work It will also be expected that in the rare event of unforeseen systems failure, that the successful candidate will work out of hours at short notice to assist or take charge of the recovery of the system(s) affected. PERSON SPECIFICATION: IT SUPPORT TEAM LEADER This person specification will be used in shortlisting and interviewing to select the best candidate. Experience Over 3 years experience of providing desktop, server and network support & development in a working environment Experience supporting all core desktop and server technologies used at Loreto College in a working environment. Including: Windows Server 2008/2012, Exchange 2010, Mac OS X, Windows 7, Active Directory Management, IIS, DNS, DHCP Experience of working in an educational establishment Essential Desirable Method of Assessment Skills and Knowledge High level of literacy/communication skills, capable of independently producing documentation written to a high, professional standard. Strong understanding of core technologies used at the college, including: Windows Server 2008 R2, Exchange 2010, Mac OS X, Windows 7, Active Directory, IIS, DNS, DHCP, WPA, 802.1x, vsphere 5.x Skills in other systems desired include: SCOM 2007 R2,, WSUS, DFS, Sharepoint, Unix/Linux, Forefront Endpoint Protection, SAN Technologies, Test Relevant knowledge of server or desktop virtualisation technologies and supporting infrastructure Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills Ability to work with other staff as a team Excellent organisational and administrative skills Ability to meet deadlines Qualifications Possession of one or more relevant IT qualifications (e.g. CompTIA A+/Network+, relevant Microsoft certifications, Cisco CCNA/CCNP) Application A relevant degree level qualification or equivalent experience Application Attitude and Impact To have real interest and natural enthusiasm for working within IT, with a keen interest in computer technology and IT generally. SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE This is a full-time, full-year post working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. You will however, on occasions, be required to work outside these hours to meet the requirements of the college. Salary will be on the Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Scale, point 29 ( 22,511 per annum).
