Logger & Vsualsaton Software - EE31 Seres GENERAL Ths software has been developed by E+E Elektronk to store measurement data of the EE31 seres transmtters n databases (Logger Software) and/or representng them graphcally and n tabular form (Vsualsaton Software). Logger- and Vsualsaton Software s optonal to the standard EE31 seres. System requrements: MS Wndows 98 SE or later, seral port. INSTALLATION Insert the CD-ROM n your PC and open the fle setup.exe n the correspondng folder by a double-clck. Follow precsely the nstructons of the nstallaton menu, choose the requred and determne all other settngs concernng the nstallaton. At the end of the nstallaton routne a readme fle or the program wll be opened automatcally. Wth the very frst nstallaton of the Logger Software the database-engne for MS Wndows s nstalled n the background as well. As a result the duraton of the complete nstallaton process s slghtly longer. If the confguraton software s already nstalled or f only an update s to be performed, the older verson must frst be unnstalled (the nstallaton routne notfes and nterrupts the procedure automatcally). To remove the prevous verson, open the menu Software n the Control Panel. There a lst of all programs nstalled on the system can be found. Remove both the programs "E+E Logger" and "E+E Vsualsaton" and then nstall the update. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY E+E Elektronk dsclams any lablty for any damages and losses resp. consequental losses (for example, but not lmted to reducton of proft, nterrupton of busness, loss of data or nformaton or any other loss of fortune), whch occures through nstallaton and / or use and also through mpossblty of use of a software product from E+E Elektronk and possble related support resp. refusal of support. 2

1. Logger Software 1.1 Introduce New Transmtter In order to ntroduce a new transmtter frst a workspace has to be created. For ths, a new workspace can be created or a saved workspace can be opened ( or "Fle" -> "Open Workspace ). In addton, the transmtter must be assgned to a group n the workspace. To do ths, a new group can be created or a group already created can be opened. Furthermore, t s possble mportng workspaces that have already been created wth the EE31 confguraton software. 1.1.1 Create New Workspace Assgn flename (e.g.: factory_1) and storage locaton on your harddsk for the new workspace. Allocate ths workspace to a user envronment. If no user envronment exsts, create a new one (by assgnng flename and storage locaton). 1.1.2 Create New Group Assgn a group name (e.g.: room4). The group s added to the workspace. If several transmtters are to be ntroduced, they can be allocated to dfferent groups. 1.1.3 Introduce New Transmtter Select the button or the correspondng pull-down menu. In the dalog box frst select the group to whch the new transmtter should belong to. Assgn a transmtter name (e.g.: dryer 1). The devce type EE31 s already specfed. Under "Confgure Devce" the network parameters of the transmtter must be set. In the feld "Network Address", enter the network address preset by E+E - ths s to be found on a stcker attached to the transmtter. Defne the seral port wth whch you have connected the EE31. If several transmtters have been connected to ths COM-port usng RS232 to RS485 converters, select the opton "Network". 4
1.2 Settngs for Loggng To save the confguraton settngs press button "Apply". Transmtters can be selected ndvdually n the tree structure, n groups or all n the workspace by means of a mouse clck on the correspondng name. For multple selectons depress the Ctrl-key and drag the mouse (analogous to MS Wndows ). 1.2.1 Selecton of Measured Values The measured values to be recorded can be selected by checkng the boxes. If all measured values processed by EE31 are to be logged smultaneously, press "All". "None" wll cancel any selecton. The three possble selectons are: - box not checked: not selected - box marked wth black tck: selecton s applcable for all transmtters of the group / the workspace - box s marked wth gray tck: selecton s applcable for partcular transmtters of the group / the workspace 1.2.2 Determnng Start / Stop Moment If a database has already been defned, by pressng the button the recordng of measurement data wll begn mmedately. Furthermore, the start / stop moment can be defned. Ths must be entered n the approprate nput felds n the format DD.MM.YY and hh:mm:ss. The recordng can be repeated at the same nterval every day by selectng the opton "Daly". 1.2.3 Determnng Loggng Interval The loggng nterval can be set between 1 second and 23h 59' 59'' and s entered n the nput mask n the format hh:mm:ss. However t s recommended to set as loggng nterval at least 5s for each transmtter. E.g.: for a workspace wth 30 transmtters to be logged smultaneously, the optmum loggng nterval s at least 150s. 1.2.4 Dsplay Database Sze When a database has already been defned and loggng has started, ts current sze and the calculated tme of the database overflow s dsplayed. 1.2.5 Read Offlne Data Feature for HUMLOG 10 - applcatons - s not relevant for the EE31 seres and therefore ths button s deactvated. 5
1.3 Set Alarm Functons Lmt values can be defned for all measured values. Exceedng the respectve lmts an alarm s sent by emal and/or SMS to a recpent created n the user database. The alarm optons are to be selected by checkng t. 1.3.1 Alarm Wth Every Lmt Exceeded If the opton box "Always" s selected the alarm trggers wth every lmt exceeded. If the box "Always" s blank, an alarm s only ntated wth the frst lmt exceeded. 1.3.2 Settng Alarm Types By checkng the correspondng alarm type the message send to the regstered recpent takes place per SMS and/or emal. The recpent must be created n the user database. 1.4 Event Log The log fle provdes a chronologcal overvew of relevant settngs and events wth date and tme. If the entre workspace s marked n the tree structure then all events are dsplayed. If only one group or one transmtter s marked only the approprate events are dsplayed. The event log s stored automatcally. The storage locaton s the sub-folder "Log" n the nstallaton drectory of the E+E Logger. Each month has ts own sub-folder, each day has ts own log-fle. The stored event logs are automatcally overwrtten after one year. For long-term archvng purposes t s therefore recommended to make a separate backup of the log-fles. 1.5 Creatng a Database (DB) In the pull-down menu "Extras", the dalog for confgurng a database can be opened by selectng "Database Settngs". 1.5.1 Type of Database There are 3 dfferent database formats: - MDB (Mcrosoft DataBase): fles wth the extenson.mdb are fles whch can be processed drectly n MS Access. - ASCII: fles that consst of purely text characters can be mported by many software programs (e.g. MS Excel ). - ODBC (Open Database Connectvty): open database format, ODBCdrvers must be nstalled and an ODBC DB already created. ASCII databases can not be processed and dsplayed by the E+E Vsualsaton Software. 6
1.5.2 Database Parameters Besdes the storage locaton and the name of the DB, the maxmum fle sze of the DB s also to be specfed. If set, a pop-up message wll warn for exceedng a partcular DB-sze (as percentage of the maxmum sze). Wth the mode-selecton t can be determned, whether the oldest loggng data should be overwrtten on reachng the maxmum DB-sze (loop-mode) or whether loggng should stop (overflow-mode). MDB and ASCII DBs can be automatcally archved every month on any free selectable day. Data from the perod of one month s stored n an addtonal database n the specfed DB-drectory. 1.6 Logger Start If a database has been created and the loggng settngs determned, by pressng the button recordng can begn. A pop-up wndow nforms about the successful start of the loggng. Durng the loggng process the EE-Logger wndow can be mnmzed by pressng the button or.loggng contnues n the background, the symbol contnues to be vsble n the tray. 1.7 Logger Stop The loggng process s halted by pressng the button. A pop-up wndow confrms the successful stop of the loggng. Snce the database must be closed, t can take several seconds untl the confrmaton message s dsplayed. If loggng has taken place n the background, the loggng wndow can be called up wth a double-clck on the tray con "E+E Logger". The recordng can now be halted, as descrbed prevously. The recorded measured values are located n the database-fle and can be further processed. 1.8 User Management The E+E Logger software has ntegrated user management, wth whch users can be added and removed. Certan rghts per user can be assgned. To be able to ntate alarms usng the Logger software at least one user must be assgned. 7
1.8.1 Create User When frst usng the user management, the user wndow of the Admnstrator wll be opened. To be able to create further users and user groups, an admnstrator password must be assgned, whch must consst of at least 4 characters. Captals- / small letterng s to be observed! Emal address, moble phone number for SMS-recept and SMS-Lmt (maxmum SMS-alarms possble n 24 hours) must also be entered. Emal- and SMS-dspatch can be tested mmedately (test-buttons). For the SMS-test, the COM-port to whch the moble phone s connected wth the PC must been defned ( Extras -> Confgure SMS ). Addtonal users can now be added va the menu tem "New User" accordng to the above mentoned scheme. The propertes of users can be edted by clckng the menu tem "User Propertes". 1.8.2 User Groups Several users can be grouped together n user groups (e.g.: engneers). As a result, the assgnment of the same rghts for several users s made easer. Groups can be created: Menu tem Groups -> New Group In the nput mask "New Group", group name etc. and also an emal address are assgned for the group; the group wll be notfed n the event of an alarm. 1.8.3 Rghts Va the menu tem User -> User Rghts rghts can be assgned for the user added. The ndvdual rghts can be selected n the pull-down menu. Wth the button "Add" or wth a double-clck on the respectve user- / group name, users or groups are added to the respectve acton, that are allowed to execute t. Wth the button "Remove", the respectve rghts are wthdrawn agan. The user "Admn" automatcally has all rghts. Rghts cannot be wthdrawn from the "Admn". 1.8.4 User Logon and Logoff If at least the user "Admn" and one other user have been confgured, when openng the "EE Logger" users must logon wth user name and password. If the program logs on an unsupervsed PC n the background, for securty reasons one can logoff wth "Extras" -> "User Logoff". In a logged-off state no actons can be performed and confguratons cannot be altered. If settngs are to be determned or f one wshes e.g. to qut loggng, t s necessary to logon wth user name and password "Extras" -> "User Logon". 8
1.9 Alarms In the menu "Alarms" -> "System Alarms", alarms can be set for events. These settngs and the ntaton of the alarm functons are based on the same prncple as wth the alarms due to lmt-exceeded for set measured values. All system events are logged n an alarm log. The user logged on the moment the alarm s receved can vew the log and acknowledge alarms. The alarms can be acknowledged ndvdually or all at once. Dependng on the settng ether all alarms or only unacknowledged ones are dsplayed. 1.10 Flow Chart: Loggng 9
2. Vsualsaton Software The E+E Vsualsaton software enables the representaton of the recorded data n tabular and graphc form. The data must exst n form of a MDB or an ODBC database, ASCII databases cannot be represented wth the E+E Vsualsaton software. The vsualsaton can take place both on-lne and from an archved databases. 2.1 Select Database In the menu "Database" -> "Settngs", the settngs for the database to be vsualzed are determned. The type of database and the path must be specfed. For databases n whch data are to be contnuously recorded by the E+E Logger software, the updatng nterval requred can be set for the vsualsaton (recommendaton: at least 10s). To be able to dsplay the measured values graphcally or n tabular form, a transmtter of the workspace must be selected. The selecton s dentfed by transmtter names dsplayed bold. 2.2 Dsplay all Recorded Values of a Sngle Transmtter Under the tab "Sngle Selecton", all recorded measured values of a sngle transmtter are dsplayed - as dagrams and n table format. The measured-value lmts set n the E+E Logger software are represented automatcally n the graphs by dashed lnes. In ths way the lmts exceeded are better vsble. In the table format measured values that are outsde the lmts are represented n red. 2.3 Dsplay Selected Values of a Sngle Transmtter / a Group / the Entre Workspace Under the tab "Detal Vew" t can be determned by checkng opton boxes whch measured values are dsplayed as a graph. The measured values of several transmtters of a group or a workspace can also be ds-played smultaneously. The selecton of a transmtter / a group / the entre workspace s carred out by a selecton n the tree structure. Several transmtters are selected wth a clck of the left mouse button and drag over the desred selecton, smultaneously keepng the Ctrl-key pressed - analogous wth the method for selectng several fles n MS Wndows Explorer. A transmtter group s selected wth a clck wth the left mouse button on the group name; all transmtters by markng the workspace name. 10
2.4 Dsplay Archved Data Under the tab "Archve" t s possble to access archved data. For ths, va "Fle" -> "Load Fle" or wth the button, a stored selecton s loaded. The selecton can be vewed under the tab "Archve" and compared wth data of the detal vew or the sngle selecton respectvely. 2.5 Adaptaton of the General Vew In the E+E Vsualsaton Software the vew can be extensvely freely edted. Consequently t s possble to freely alter the parttonng and therefore the sze of the areas of: - tree structure of the workspace - dagram - tables by draggng the two vertcal bars and keepng the left mouse button depressed. 2.6 Adaptng the Dagram Vew If the vew of a dagram s to be altered, wth a double-clck n the dagram area the correspondng dalog wndow can be opened. Ths functons both n the sngle- as well as n the detal vew and also for archved dagrams. The followng parameters can be modfed: - dagram ttle: Desgnaton and Font - sze of the scalng lnes of the x-axs and the font of the labelng of both axes. - page margns Wth a double-clck on the x- or the y-axs, the scalng of the respectve axs can be altered. Under the parameters for the y-axs, t s also possble to adapt the color of the axs and the assocated dagram curve ndvdually. Ths can ncrease the dfferentatng contrast of several measured values wth several axes. Several measured values of several transmtters can be dsplayed smultaneously n one dagram n the detal vew. For ths, the respectve transmtters must be selected n the tree structure and the respectve opton boxes n the detal vew. The ndvdual curves of the measured values are dfferentated by color, the ndvdual transmtters by the respectve symbols on the curves (see legend of the llustrated dagrams). 11
2.7 Zoom Functon For detaled representaton of the dagrams partcularly nterestng sectons can be enlarged. Press. Move the mouse cursor n the dagram and select the area to be enlarged, keepng the left mouse button depressed. If the mouse button s released the vew s adapted accordng to the selecton. Ths procedure can be repeated untl the desred representaton sze s reached. In order to return to the orgnal vew sze, only a mouse clck on the button s requred. 2.8 Exact Readng of Curve Values wth the Ruler Functon For a smple and exact readng of the curve values, the E+E Vsualsaton software ncorporates a ruler functon. The ruler functon s actvated or deact-vated respectvely wth a clck of the button. 2.8.1 Ruler Functon n the Sngle Selecton If wth actvated ruler functon the mouse s clcked exactly on a measurement curve, then n the table alongsde the correspondng rows are hghlghted and can be read off exactly wth assocated tme and date. The bold dsplayed border shows whch dagram has been drawn upon for the readng of the table values. border dsplayed bold for ndcatng the selected dagram correspondng table rows wth date, tme of all measured values logged at ths moment ruler 12
2.8.2 Ruler Functon n the Detal Vew If wth actvated ruler functon the mouse s clcked on a measurement curve n the detal vew, then moment and measured value are dsplayed exactly n the two felds provded. If several measurement curves of several transmtters are represented smultaneously, the curve selecton must be carred out carefully. Legend and dfferent-colored curve dsplay of the ndvdual measured values are sutable ads for ths. exact ndcaton of moment and measured value ruler 2.8.3 Ruler Functon for Archved Curve Vews The ruler functon also functons for stored vews, whch, after they have been loaded, can be vewed under the tab "Archve". The functon s analogue to the ruler functon n the detal vew. 13
2.9 Archvng of Dagram Vews To be able to refer to mportant curve sectons at a later tme t s possble to store them. Select n the menu "Fle" -> "Save Fle" or use the button. Flename and storage locaton can be chosen. For a sngle selecton of a dagram select wth a mouse clck (dentfed by the border dsplayed bold). Only the selected dagram s stored. 2.10 Prntng 2.10.1 Prntng the Sngle Selecton If the button several optons. s pressed n the sngle selecton, a dalog appears wth Dagram It s possble to prnt ether all dagrams or only the marked dagram (dentfed by the border dsplayed bold). If all dagrams are selected, each dagrams s prnted on a separate sheet. Table Ether the entre table can be prnted (attenton: can consst of many pages) or only a markng wthn the table. Possble markngs are: - a table row by postonng the ruler on a curve - a table row by clckng drectly on t n the table - several contnuous rows of a table by clckng on two values and smultaneously keepng the Shft-key depressed - several random selected rows of a table by clckng on several values and smultaneously keepng the Ctrl-key depressed Prnter Dsplay of the standard dalog feld of MS Wndows for prnter selecton and -confguraton. 2.10.2 Prntng the Detal Vew or the Loaded Archve Vew If the button s pressed n the detal vew or n the archve vew, the standard dalog feld of MS Wndows for prnter selecton and -confguraton appears mmedately. No further selectons can be made. 2.11 Automatc Updatng of Dagrams & Tables If a database s vewed n the E+E Vsualsaton software, n whch current measured values are stll beng contnuously wrtten by the E+E Logger software, then wth the button dagrams and tables can be updated at the preset updatng nterval (see chapter 2.1 Select Database). 14
