2 Vembu StoreGrd Wndows Clent Installaton Gude Download the Wndows nstaller, VembuStoreGrd_4_2_0_SP_Clent_Only.exe To nstall StoreGrd clent on Wndows machnes, follow the steps gven below: 1. Double clck VembuStoreGrd_4_2_0_SP_Clent_Only.exe and follow the nstructons n the nstallaton wzard. Clck Next to begn the nstallaton process. 2. Vembu StoreGrd Lcense Agreement : Go through the lcense agreement, select "I accept the agreement" and proceed to the Next step. If you are updatng from an earler verson, you wll be asked to confrm ths. 3. Vembu StoreGrd - StoreGrd Identty : ( StoreGrd wll skp ths step and retan exstng settngs f t detects an earler verson nstalled) The StoreGrd ID wll be used to dentfy ths nstallaton of StoreGrd on your network / your onlne backup servce provder s network. By default, StoreGrd takes the machne name. Ideally, enter the emal ID of the clent usng ths partcular machne. Usng an emal ID ensures that your StoreGrd ID s truly unque. Note: The StoreGrd ID s case nsenstve. Hence, the ' StoreGrd ID' you have entered wll be automatcally converted to lower case. 4. StoreGrd Installaton Opton : Here you can choose an opton to go wth a Typcal nstallaton of StoreGrd or choose Custom nstallaton where you can specfy the varous optons. If you choose Typcal nstallaton, StoreGrd wll be nstalled n "C:\Program Fles\ Vembu\StoreGrd". In a desktop OS StoreGrd wll be nstalled as a "Wndows Applcaton" and n a Server OS, StoreGrd wll be nstalled as a Servce, wth default WebConsole confguraton. If you have lmted space n C: drve, choose Custom nstallaton and select a dfferent nstallaton locaton. If you choose Custom nstallaton, you can confgure StoreGrd to be nstalled as a "Wndows Servce", at a desred locaton, wth custom WebConsole confguraton. 5. Custom Installaton Opton : Follow the below steps f you choose Custom StoreGrd nstallaton.. StoreGrd Installaton Type (Wndows Applcaton or Servce): Whle nstallng StoreGrd v4.2, you can ether nstall StoreGrd as a Wndows Applcaton or as a Wndows Servce. StoreGrd can be nstalled as a Wndows Applcaton and t wll run n the background. Note that f you choose ths mode, StoreGrd wll only start f the user who nstalled t logs n to the PC. If the user logs off, then StoreGrd wll ext. Advanced users may choose to nstall StoreGrd as a Wndows Servce. Ths would enable StoreGrd to run n the background, even when no users are logged n to the systems. Ths opton s recommended for Servers where StoreGrd has to be run 24x7 wthout user logged n. To nstall as a Servce, select "Install as a Wndows servce" and proceed to the next step.. Vembu StoreGrd Servce Confguraton : By default StoreGrd Servce s selected to run from the Wndows Local System Account. If you run StoreGrd servce from the Local System Account, then StoreGrd wll not be able to automatcally collect nformaton on User specfc backup confguratons lke Outlook Emal/Outlook Express, My Documents, Desktop, and IE Settngs data for backup. You wll need to manually select the requred fles and folders. If you want to run StoreGrd servce from a Wndows User account, then select ths opton and provde the User Name and the Password for the user account n the approprate felds and clck Next. In ths case, StoreGrd Servce wll always run from ths user account. Hence, StoreGrd can correctly collect nformaton on User specfc backup confguratons lke Outlook/Outlook Express backup and IE Settngs. If your Wndows user logn s dependent on a Doman Controller, then run StoreGrd Servce from the

3 Wndows Local System Account. You can manually confgure StoreGrd to run from a User account later by gong to Control Panel -> Admnstrator Tools -> Servces and changng the StoreGrd servce optons to run as a user. NOTE : Please make sure, the User account confgured for StoreGrd Servce has 'Logon As Servce' permsson n Wndows securty polces.. Choose Installaton Locaton : ( StoreGrd wll skp ths step and retan exstng settngs f t detects an earler verson nstalled) By default, StoreGrd wll be nstalled under " Vembu\StoreGrd" n the "C:\Program Fles" drectory. Clck Next to contnue nstallaton n the default drectory. Clck Browse to choose a dfferent drectory. Note that ths wll create the " Vembu\StoreGrd" drectory under the drectory you choose. Clck Next to contnue. If StoreGrd detects exstng data left behnd from a prevous nstallaton of StoreGrd (wheren you unnstalled the prevous verson but left some data behnd) t wll prompt you for a desred acton. If no old data was found n the nstallaton drectory or f you are smply upgradng from an exstng nstalled verson, StoreGrd wll skp ths step. v. Vembu StoreGrd Confguraton : ( StoreGrd wll skp ths step and retan exstng settngs f t detects an earler verson nstalled) There are three parts to ths step. Confgure Web Server Port : StoreGrd's user nterface s browser based. You have the opton to confgure the port used by StoreGrd web server here. Once confgured you need to use ths port to start the StoreGrd Web Console from your browser. By default StoreGrd Web server s confgured to run on port Unless you are an advanced user, please leave ths as t s. Username & Password : Snce StoreGrd's user nterface s browser based, you need to confgure a username and password to logn to StoreGrd Web Console. Note that you can add addtonal users, delete users, change password etc. from the Web Console UI after the nstallaton. By default the username and password used by StoreGrd s "admn" and "admn". You have the opton to change these default settngs here. Advanced Port Confguraton (Includng HTTPS): Clck on the Advanced Port Confguratons (Includng HTTPS) lnk to confgure StoreGrd backup server port, UI communcaton port and HTTPS port. Provde vald TCP port numbers for Backup Server Port, UI Communcaton Port and HTTPS port. You wll be able to confgure 'Advanced Port Confguraton' whle upgradng StoreGrd too. a. Backup Server Port s the port through whch the nstalled StoreGrd clent wll back up the data to the backup server. The default value s b. UI Communcaton Port s the port through whch StoreGrd Apache/PHP modules communcate wth StoreGrd to serve UI requests from the StoreGrd WebConsole. The default value s c. HTTPS Port: HTTPS Port s the port used to access the StoreGrd Webconsole n a secured manner through HTTPS protocol. Default value s d. Enable HTTPS: HTTPS Port s the secure webconsole port through whch you can access the StoreGrd webconsole n secure manner. You should enable "Enable HTTPS" opton to edt ths value. If you have enabled HTTPS opton, then you can access the StoreGrd webconsole through name>:<https port> URL. And also, f you try to access the StoreGrd webconsole through name>:<webconsole port>, then you wll be automatcally redrected to name>:<https port> url. v. Select Program Folder : ( StoreGrd wll skp ths step and retan exstng settngs f t detects an earler verson nstalled) Clck Next to select the Programs Folder to add the StoreGrd shortcuts (deally, leave t as t s). Proceed to the next step to select requred cons. For ease of use, allow the StoreGrd nstaller to create a desktop con & a quck launch con. 6. Clck Next to revew your settngs. Thereafter, clck Install, and proceed to nstall StoreGrd. If you are updatng from an earler verson, you wll be nformed that StoreGrd wll now stop and restart after the nstallaton. 7. After copyng the StoreGrd fles, a page wll show the progress of StoreGrd nstallaton. If StoreGrd nstallaton completes successfully, you wll be automatcally redrected to the fnshed nstallaton page. Otherwse, the

4 Note nstallaton progress page wll show the error detals. 8. If ths s the frst tme you are usng StoreGrd, have a look at the README fle when prompted; t wll help you get started real quck. A shortcut to start StoreGrd and StoreGrd Web Console wll be created on the System Tray and n the Start > Programs > Vembu StoreGrd menu. After successful nstallaton, you can open the StoreGrd Web Console by rght-clckng the StoreGrd con n your system tray and selectng the StoreGrd Web Console from the menu, or alternatvely, dong the same through the Start > Programs > Vembu StoreGrd > StoreGrd Web Console menu. You wll have to logn to the Web Console usng the username and password you provded n the " Vembu StoreGrd Confguraton" screen durng the nstallaton. Problem Startng StoreGrd n Vsta If StoreGrd s nstalled under C:/Program Fles n Vsta, then make sure you run StoreGrd wth the opton "Run as Admnstrator". The reason beng, Vsta allows an applcaton to access the 'Program Fles' folder only when run as an admnstrator user. You can enable the 'Run as Admnstrator' opton for the < StoreGrd Home>\bn\StoreGrd.exe applcaton through t's fle propertes dalog through 'Compatblty' tab -> 'Prvlege Level' -> 'Run ths applcaton as admnstrator' opton. If you don't have admnstrator access or f you don't want to run StoreGrd under the admnstrator account, make sure you nstall StoreGrd under your user account folder or other than the 'Program Fles' folder. StoreGrd Slent Installaton 1. What s a slent nstallaton? Some servce provders prefer not to have ther customers go through the step by step nstallaton screens typcal of most nstallatons from wthn the wndows operatng system, and nstead would lke to nstall StoreGrd drectly and 'slently' from the command lne prompt. The StoreGrd 'customzed clent buld' you have been provded s capable of beng nstalled from the command lne exactly as descrbed above. The same buld wll also work from wthn Wndows(as a UI based nstallaton) wheren you just double clck the buld fle and follow the steps on the screen. 2. How do I do a 'slent nstall' from the command lne? For command lne/slent nstallaton, just follow the smple steps below: There are two optons avalable: SILENT & VERYSILENT. In a SILENT nstallaton, durng nstallaton, the Installaton Progress page s dsplayed once nstallaton has started and tll t s complete. In a VERYSILENT nstallaton, no Installaton Progress page wll be shown. Syntax to be followed: <Buld Fle Name> [/SILENT or /VERYSILENT] /AGREE_LICENSE="yes/no" /SG_ID="< StoreGrd ID>" /DIR="< StoreGrd Home Path>" /SG_Type="servce/applcaton" /SG_User=" StoreGrd webconsole user name" /SG_Pass=" StoreGrd webconsole Password" /SG_Port=" StoreGrd webconsole port" /SG_PrevDataOpton="delete/rename" /SG_BackupPort="The Backup server port." /SG_UIPort="The UI communcaton port." /SG_HTTPS="0/1" /SG_HTTPSPort="The HTTPS port." [/SG_WUser="Wndows logon user name for StoreGrd servce" /SG_WPass="Wndows logon password for StoreGrd servce"] /LOG="Installaton log fle name". Note: /SILENT or /VERYSILENT must be the frst argument mmedately after the <buld fle name> Thereafter, there s no fxed order for provdng the command lne arguments. There should be a space between <buld fle name> and each command lne arguments. Except user names and passwords, all other values are case nsenstve We recommend that you provde the /LOG opton the frst couple of tmes that you use the slent nstallaton so you can dentfy ssues durng the slent nstallaton, f any.

Ideally, ths should be an emal ID as ths s unque and easly remembered. In fact, f you can, nsst that all your customers use emal IDs as StoreGrd IDs. As your busness grows, you'll be glad you dd! - - More on vald clent IDs: Allowed characters: [A- Z][a-z][0-9][ _.] Value must not contan more than two "@" characters Must not start or end wth specal characters Length must be 1-50 characters. DIR Installaton locaton Any vald locaton C:\Program Fles\ # Ths locaton s the StoreGrd Home. SG_Type StoreGrd nstallaton type Servce / Applcaton Applcaton (for Desktop OS), Servce (for Server OS) # If selected servce opton, please provde SG_WUser & SG_WPass also. SG_WUser & SG_WPass If StoreGrd nstallaton type (see above) s Servce, pls. provde the logon account detals. Vald Wndows User name and Password - No addtonal detals are requred for nstallng for Local System Account. SG_User & SG_Pass Authentcaton detals for StoreGrd webconsole [username & password] - User name: admn Password: admn - SG_Port StoreGrd Webconsole port number. Any vald TCP port number 6060 # - SG_PrevDataOpton Durng nstallaton, f there s exstng data from a prevous nstallaton of StoreGrd, what s to be done? Delete / Rename Rename - SG_BackupPort The port through whch StoreGrd clents wll backup the data to the backup server. Any vald TCP port number between 1 to # -

6 SG_UIPort SG_HTTPS SG_HTTPSPort SG_WValdate SG_SSL_SERVERPORT_STATUS SG_SSL_SERVERPORT The port through whch StoreGrd Apache/PHP modules communcate wth StoreGrd to serve UI requests from the StoreGrd WebConsole. You can enable the secure HTTPS web access by checkng the "Enable HTTPS" check box. HTTPS Port s the secure webconsole port through whch you can access the StoreGrd webconsole n secure manner. Opton to enable or dsable valdaton of Wndows logn detals. HTTPS Port s the secure webconsole port through whch you can access the StoreGrd webconsole n secure manner. Backup port wth SSL securty. Any vald TCP port number between 1 to # - 0 / 1 1 # 0 - Dsable 1 - Enable Any vald TCP port number between 1 to Enable - 1 Dsable - 0 Enable Enable - 1 Dsable Vald port value Must not be same as the 6061 # SG_Port / SG_UIPort / SG_BackupPort Some machnes do not valdate Wndows logn detals correctly may reject even when the logn detals are rght. In such cases, turnng ths opton off may be advsable. If ths opton s turned off and f the logn detals entered are wrong, then the user may not be aware that the logn detals are wrong tll the backup s scheduled and fals to run. Ths status tells f the clent needs to connect to the backup server through the SSL enabled backup port or not. If ths opton s enabled, vald SSL Backup port should be specfed durng slent nstallaton. If ths opton s not provded durng upgrade, then the prevous nstallaton value s taken. The backup port value wth SSL securty opton. It should be the same at backup server and clent system. If ths opton s not provded then the prevous nstallaton value s taken. # - Whle upgradng StoreGrd, f these arguments not provded, the values wll be taken from the prevous nstallaton. If t s a new nstallaton, the default values as mentoned n the table wll be used. VERY IMPORTANT: SG_ID and AGREE_LICENSE are mandatory arguments (besdes /SILENT or /VERYSILENT); all other arguments are optonal. Examples of vald Commands: a.
