Introduction to Web Design Instructor: Mrs. Cullen 2010 Fall Semester Handbook Natick High School 15 West Street Natick, MA 01760

Intro to Web Design Welcome The purpose of this course is to prepare you for a future where you can properly harness fundamental web design skills. The course covers Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), CSS Style Sheets and introduces students to Dreamweaver, Photoshop and PDF writer as it pertains to Web Design. Students will do text and classroom work in addition to peer group activities and independent projects. Students will create 3 Websites each serving a different purpose and audience. Many professions value an employee who is proficient in the basics of HTML and Adobe Dreamweaver. This class will provide you with the skills necessary to use these technologies in such a way that you would be confident in adding them to your resume. Semester Goals: 1. Students will be able to comfortably use applications from Creative Suite to build, test, publish and maintain a Portfolio, Informational and Business Website. 2. Students will understand the basics of designing a Website using HTML and CSS 3. Students will work as individuals and in a team to produce resourceful and user friendly Websites. 4. Students will continue to use what they learn in the classroom in their future educational or professional career. Programs Used in the Classroom: 1. World Wide Web 2. Dreamweaver 3. Photoshop 4. PDF Writer 5. Microsoft Publisher 6. Notepad

Attendance will also be enforced as outlined in the Natick High School Student Handbook. Tardiness: 1. Students are to be in their seats ready to work when the bell rings for class to begin. 2. If we begin a task before you come to class, you will lose one grade off of the assignment, i.e.: an A will become a B 3. Tardiness will also be enforced as outline in the Natick High School Student Handbook Classroom Equipment: 1. Please use equipment responsibly if you break it, we don t have it to use.
