WELCOME ESCP Europe was founded in Paris in 1819 and, since then, has educated generations of leaders, contributing to the fine reputation it enjoys today. With five European campuses in Paris, Berlin, London, Madrid and Turin, ESCP Europe is the School of Management for Europe. Professor Alain CHEVALIER, Each year, our business school welcomes 4,000 students and a Academic and International Dean similar number of top-level executives from around the world. The school offers them a model of management which prepares them for the future in the respect of such humanist European values as creativity, history, culture, transversality and diversity. ESCP Europe offers a wide range of degrees and training programmes to students, young professionals and managers. Our 125 permanent faculty members, 78 affiliate professors and 40 visiting professors from all over the world make up our international and experienced teaching body. We provide both general management and specialised programmes, all with an international outlook. The majority of our degree programmes include international seminars or the possibility to go on an exchange at one of our 77 partner institutions. The Master in Hospitality Management gives participants the opportunity to benefit from our European multi-campus structure and our international partner network. Courses are delivered on the ESCP Europe Madrid and Paris campuses and also in the United States during the Professional Development Program (PDP) at Cornell University. It has evolved rapidly, largely through technological advances, lifestyle evolutions, managerial and business innovative models. Hospitality companies are calling on highly educated and open-minded talents to bring in new visions, insights and expertises to achieve excellence in different business and cultural environments. THE ESCP Europe Master in Hospitality management is designed to provide highlevel managers with strong knowledge of management concepts and tools, as well as an in-depth understanding of the current and future challenges of this unique, dynamic and diverse industry. PROGRAMME OVERVIEW THREE MAIN GOALS TO PROVIDE SOUND MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE AND TOOLS FROM A TOP-TIER BUSINESS SCHOOL Participants benefit from studying in an academic environment of excellence with a multidisciplinary teaching team including dedicated ESCP Europe faculty members and professional international experts. The programme offers comprehensive training in the major fields of hospitality management, introducing state of the art theory, concepts and real-life business practices. Our unique approach to management teaching promotes numerous exchanges between professors and participants. During the 2-week Professional Development Program at Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, participants have the opportunity to choose a concentration field to explore in-depth. TO ENRICH STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL INSIGHTS OF THE HOSPITALITY WORLD Dynamic learning formats such as case study discussions, presentations, business games and team-based projects enable participants to reinforce their strategic approach to the industry. The Master provides a unique chance to build a large and international professional network inside and outside the hospitality world. Participants discover different business contexts as courses are delivered in two ESCP Europe locations, (Madrid and Paris), and in the USA at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. 6
PARIS LONDON BERLIN TORINO THE PROGRAMME FORMAT The programme consists of five 2-week sessions spread over 15 months combining in-class courses, individual and group study and professional development activities. Between each session, distance learning will allow participants to review the topics they have seen during a course as well as to prepare for an upcoming class, in order to derive the most benefit from the in-class experience. On-line pre-requisite courses are designed to enhance the participants learning experience and to build a common platform for in-class teaching. THE CURRICULUM The curriculum is organised around modules combining business perspectives and operational tools with a strong focus on the hospitality industry. The Programme consists of core modules, mandatory for all, and concentration modules, chosen by each participant, according to his/her own profile and professional perspectives. Core modules are taught on the ESCP Europe Madrid and Paris campuses. The Cornell Professional Development Program session is dedicated to the concentration modules. CORE MODULES STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT This module will provide participants with the concepts and tools that help set corporate and business unit goals, identify key stakeholders, analyse both the firm and environment to formulate and implement strategy in the rapidly evolving hospitality business context. Participants will also examine the international strategic dimension of hotel management. A special focus on sustainable development and corporate social responsibility is developed as well. MARKETING MANAGEMENT This module focuses on understanding marketing issues for a service industry with key topics such as customer care, loyalty and quality management. Specific seminars will be dedicated to yield management, distribution channels and strategy in the hospitality industry. New trends will also be examined in this module. FINANCE AND ASSET MANAGEMENT This module gives participants a set of tools and analytical frameworks to assess the managerial and strategic implications of financial decisions, as well as the basic techniques of accounting and the construction of key financial statements. A special focus on real estate and asset management enables participants to better understand and manage this key issue in the hospitality industry. MANAGERIAL SKILLS AND LEADERSHIP Operating effectively in the hospitality industry requires strong managerial skills. Participants will develop their skills in communication, teambuilding, negotiation and diversity awareness. Strong emphasis will be put on leadership in international environments. OPERATIONS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT The Operations Management course is focused on the management of resources and processes required for delivering hospitality services. A business game will enable participants to better understand the numerous interdependencies in managing a hotel and related facilities. The strategic importance of information systems management in the hospitality industry will also be demonstrated to participants. 8
PARIS LONDON BERLIN TORINO MANAGING PEOPLE AND ORGANISATIONS As people are the key assets in the hospitality industry, major HR issues such as recruiting, remuneration, career development and health and safety regulations will be explored. Within this module, participants will also improve their knowledge of conceptual frameworks and operational tools to effectively manage an organisation. Through management control concepts and performance tools, participants will better understand how actions are translated into results. ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND NEW VENTURE PROJECTS The hospitality industry gives numerous opportunities to develop new businesses in emerging and innovative areas. Participants will examine how innovation is a key factor for growth. They will examine and practice the Entrepreneurial Toolbox and improve their ability to develop successful business plans. CONCENTRATION MODULES AND COURSES Each participant chooses one of the four specialisation fields for their concentration modules and then opts to complete different courses within the chosen field. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES Professional development activities are designed both to help participants to enrich their knowledge of the hospitality industry and to question their professional path. These activities provide unique opportunities to interact with hospitality professionals and experts, to discover innovative business models and to reflect on career objectives matching your own talents with the right professional environment. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANCY PROJECT: The International Consultancy Project is a key component of the learning dynamic of the programme. In groups, participants work on real-life strategic issues and put the concepts and tools they have acquired throughout the sessions into practice. In addition to consolidating the understanding of concepts and tools presented during the programme, the consultancy project is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary and intercultural experience. GUEST SPEAKERS LECTURES: Leading professionals in the hospitality industry (CEOs, entrepreneurs, consultants ) or internationally recognised experts of industry related fields. They share their vision and understanding of the industry s current and future trends in a friendly atmosphere with participants. COMPANY VISITS: Through company or facility visits, participants develop new insights, discover strategic and operational innovations, experience different cultural environments and interact with people from different backgrounds. This helps participants to think out of the box and to develop a real momentum for creative visions and projects. CAREER WORKSHOPS: Workshops are designed to support participants with their career development, providing tools to clarify their professional profile and ambitions. Small group discussions and personal conversations with ESCP Europe faculty and staff are planned throughout the programme. Each participant is required to fill out his logbook after each session to formalise professional learning outputs and to encourage reflection on the different learning experiences. 10

FACULTY The dedicated faculty team of the programme is made up of ESCP Europe Professors with expertise in the hospitality management field, visiting faculty from top-tier international institutions and cutting-edge professional experts. As teaching team members come from different countries and business environments, participants experience an international and multicultural training environment. THE CORNELL UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF HOTEL ADMINISTRATION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Since 1928, thousands of hospitality managers from around the world have sought to gain a business edge by participating in Cornell s Professional Development Program (PDP). Led by Cornell faculty and industry leaders, participants are able to apply this unique experience immediately in their daily activities. Interaction and networking with colleagues from around the globe is a unique and integral component of the program. With courses offered in North America, Europe, and Asia, industry professionals have multiple options to experience Cornell. 60 full-time faculty members recognised as experts in their chosen disciplines, are dedicated to teaching, research and service. Courses in the Cornell Professional Development Program take place in classrooms at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, USA. Hospitality Management faculty members explore critical trends producing research that shapes the industry s strategic, managerial and operating practices. This research comes alive in the classroom, giving students attending courses at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration a competitive edge in their future career. The curriculum is further strengthened through the close bonds maintained with industry leaders. Each year hundreds of hospitality executives and entrepreneurs also visit the school to share their wisdom, insight and experiences. 12

ADMISSIONS ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS To be eligible You must have completed your higher education to a level equivalent to a University Bachelor s degree. In certain cases, the selection committee will accept candidates who do not have these qualifications, but who hold a high-level position. We encourage you to get in touch with our Admissions Team who can advise as to the suitability of your application. You should demonstrate a relevant professional experience in hospitality or service related activities. As all participants are required to attend courses and submit coursework in English, an English test is required for all non-native English speakers. Waivers are only given to candidates who have either worked or studied for over 2 years in an English speaking country. We require the following minimum scores on the tests: TOEFL written test: 600; TOEFL IBT: 105; TOEFL computer-based: 250; IELTS: 7. Candidates without any language qualification certificates can be tested at our campuses the same day of the interview. ADMISSION PROCESS Candidates who are interested in the Master in Hospitality Management can only apply once per academic year and are required to complete the following steps: Complete the online application form and send the required documents to the Admissions Office at the Madrid campus. Applicants whose applications are accepted will be invited to a personal interview which plays an essential role in assessing candidates abilities and motivation for the Master in Hospitality Management programme. PROGRAMME COSTS There is an application fee of 150 for all applicants. Tuition for this 15-month programme is 29,500 net of tax. Scholarships partially covering programme fees can be obtained by excellent applicants on the strength and quality of their application. Tuition fees include: Five 2-week modules. All books, materials and online modules for courses. Accommodation and travel costs for the Cornell University module in the USA. The following costs are not included: Travel or accommodation for the modules which take place in Madrid and Paris.
