It begins with a histrical verview f funded n the principles f via which s are executed, hence the ntin f managing thrugh s. It applies principles in executing s with the attractin f delivery f prducts r services n time, within the scpe, and budget, f high quality and exceeding the custmer s expectatins. This distinguishes it frm rutine peratins as s are ne time endeavurs with a given scpe and budget and time framed. The purpse f the curse is t prvide yu with the basic tls, techniques and methdlgies f planning and fr yu t be able t understand hw these tls, techniques and methdlgies can be used effectively t execute s and t cmplete such s successfully t the satisfactin f the custmer. The curse discusses the Strategy phases (Visin and Missin) t the Prject phases f feasibility, cnceptualizatin, develpment, executin and finish). It explres the nine knwledge areas in f integratin, scpe, cst, time, quality, cmmunicatin, risk, prcurement and human resurce. It als lks at stakehlder as the tenth knwledge area. It als utlines the life cycle and examines the applicatin f the knwledge areas and the creatin f netwrks with apprpriate lcal and glbal examples. This is meant t engage yu s that yu can think critically abut the applicatin f in bth thery and practice and within yur cmmunity. This is all crammed in five wrking days fr 8 credits which implies that yu have t wrk and read a lt n yur wn. The mdules are structured in a blck release fashin. It is anticipated that yu will be able t apply the skills learned in class t impact psitively n the s which yu are currently wrking n such as yur wn studies, taken as a with a start and end date. In a team wrk is emphasized. Hence in curse

delivery, we als emphasize wrking in teams. The curse espuses the primacy and imprtance f team wrk as a slid fundatin upn which successful s have been executed. This als distinguishes facilitatin frm lecturing, instructing and teaching because it allws interactin and team wrk in a less frmal atmsphere in rder t stimulate thinking and generate ideas. This is hw we teach team wrk and team building thrugh facilitatin and ding. We als believe that this curse will als increase yur emplyability chances. Real life examples are used in class t illustrate the applicatin f tls and techniques. Such examples range frm rganizing a wedding, a ne day demnstratin, a cmmunity sccer turnament, rganizing a Wrld Cup, training peple in specific skills, launching an album, building a new rad/dam, designing a new car, t lng term s such as the Lesth Highlands Water 30 year. ASSUMPTIONS OF PRIOR LEARNING Learners are assumed t have a qualificatin at the NQF level 8, namely a Bachelr, Hnurs r equivalent. TEACHING METHODS The curse cmprises f five days f cntact sessin in blck release frmat. As such, the delivery mde f the mdule/qualificatin is cntact and full time. Participants will be required t attend five days f classes. Lectures will be presented. Participants will als engage in grup discussins cncerning issues linked t s and in the cntext f the lcal and the glbal. The students are given material in the mdule guide as preparatry reading including my wn articles n the subject. The teaching mde will include a structured learning experience cnsisting f case studies, grup wrk, lectures, discussins, brainstrming, interactive exercises (quizzes, simple games, crsswrds), rle playing, vide, and multimedia audi pwerpint slides and panel discussins. The methdlgy includes e-learning using Blackbard. Staff has undergne training in using Blackbard t make annuncement, pst assignments, tests and test marks and s frth, and t use Turnitin (the anti plagiarism sftware). Students are being taught t use Blackbard. Our IT department carries ut training sessins fr staff and students all the time prir t the cmmencement f classes. Therefre the lectures are imprtant t enable the students t understand cncepts including a critical analysis f the theries f thrugh discussins in class and the inculcatin f prblem-slving skills. In additin, exercises in class will be given t yu s that yu can prepare fr the test and examinatin as well as t enhance yur understanding f cncepts and their applicability.. This entails yu must read prir t attending classes t enrich

the learning experience thrugh viable discussins fr purpses f crss pllinatin f ideas during class discussins. Teaching and Learning Material Handuts and ntes frm relevant surces such as prescribed bks and literature will be prvided t yu in class. These tpics are intended t give yu the necessary grunding t mve t the next step f the specific knwledge area.
