Crrelate structure and functin as it applies t the grss anatmical features and verall functin f the bdy systems Integrate basic physilgical and bimechanical cncepts, t better understand the grss anatmical structure and functin Prvide practical examples f hw the anatmical knwledge may be applied t the students varied disciplines (kinesilgy, physical therapy (PT) and ccupatinal therapy (OT)) Develp an ability t predict the anatmical basis fr a number f injury mechanisms and cngenital anmalies Have fun 2. COURSE INFORMATION Organizatin: There are tw lectures and ne lab per week. Where pssible, the lecture material will explain and expand upn the tpics cvered in the subsequent lab. The labs are designed as self-discvery experiences s that explratin is dne by the student with the labratry assistant supervising and helping nly n request. Multiple-chice exams may be examined by cmputer sftware t check fr unusual cincidences in answer patterns that may indicate cheating. Lab practical tests will be verbal exams (VIVIAs), where students are given 8 min t answer questins impsed by an examiner. The written exams are cumulative within each term, nt acrss terms. The breakdwn f questins will reflect the material cvered. (ie. Dec written will be 50:50 back/upper and lwer limb and the April final will be 50:50 head/neck/thrax and
6 abdmen/pelvis.) Online case quizzes may be attempted by all but they will nly cunt tward the OT student grades. 6. ASSESSMENT CONDITIONS A minimum f 80% attendance is required fr the labs. Dcumentatin is required fr attendance less than 80%. Any attendance less than 80% withut dcumentatin will result in an autmatic lss f 5% f the verall curse grade. An verall passing average (accrding t yur specific prgram) is required t pass the curse. In ther wrds, a student may fail a lab cmpnent but still have an verall passing average. Runding f grades: Decimal pints abve.56 will be runded t the next whle number (eg. 69.56 t a 70%). Marks clse t the next decade will nt be runded beynd the next single digit grade eg. 68.5 will nt be rund t 70 nr will 69=70) Minimum average f 65% is required fr 9524 students (OT prgram requirement) Absence frm curse cmmitments A. It will be the Dean s ffice that will determine if accmmdatin is warranted. The date and nature f a make-up test/exam will be determined by the instructr, in cnsultatin with the student. Generally, students wh miss a lab test will be given a verbal 1:1 lab test r re-weighing f grades will be cnsidered. Written tests/exam will be made up by a written test/exam.
