Construction Infranord is the leading rail contractor in the Nordic region. Norways largest rail investment at the moment is the development of the railway to Ski, just outside Oslo. On behalf of Jernbaneverket Infranord got the mission to rebuild the rail yard in Ski to adapt to the new trains that have been developed. The contract encompasses the construction of tracks and catenary, signal work, electrical installations for high and low voltage. Infranord uses both Swedish and Norwegian personnel in the mission. Education within Infranord In order to rationalise the situation, Infranord launched Infranord Academy in 2011, an internal railway training center where Infranord s own employees with special expertise work as instructors and provide training. This has enabled us to reduce our training costs and improve the quality of the training. During 2012, we offered 10,000 places on various training courses. Creative thinking contributes to a more efficient Infranord Gerardo Jofré, Head of Technical Support at Infranord has been contributing with innovations that have streamlined work at the company for more than 20 years. Combined forces for a safe workplace Safety is a central issue for Infranord. Sound safety work is a precondition for our business, and it is important for the industry to prioritise this issue. During 2012 Infranord arranged a sector meeting on safety and how we can make the railway workplace as safe as possible. In order to create an understanding of how a moment s inattention can have catastrophic consequences, Rickard Forshäll described an accident that he himself had experienced, how he was recieved after the accident, as well as how the investigation of the accident proceeded.
