Wireless internet access (WLAN, Wifi) inside BSB Users of the Bavarian State Library can access the Internet in all reading rooms by choosing between several connections. Outside our reading rooms, access points are not installed extensively. Access to the Internet via the in-house WLAN of the BSB Short note Beeing at least 1 8 years old and having a valid user card, registered users of the Bavarian State Library can use the in-house WLAN The network name (SSID ) required for logging in is: BSB-1 Data transmission is encrypted via WPA standard. Therefore a network key is required which must be entered when getting connected. WLAN inside the Munich Scientific Network (lrz, eduroam) for visitors without a user card - Short note Travelling scientists with access to eduroam as well as students and employees of Munich scientific institutions are provided with wireless access to the Internet through the LeibnizRechenzentrum inside the BSB. Lrz and eduroam networks (SSIDs) can be accessed at any time. We cannot assist you in installing these WLAN connections! Technical and security information Data transmission in our network is effected in encoded form according to the WPA2 (WIFI Protected Access) safety standard for wireless networks. Individual access points encrypt via WPA-TKIP Individual, older notebooks do not support WPA, respectively WPA2 encryption standard. In this case, probably no network connection ist established (e.g. "No wireless networks found") Please keep your network drivers up to date Update your operating system on a regular basis Internet access provided through the BSB ist firewall-protected Even so, we suggest using Antivirus software Our proxy service as well as our firewall configuration might block the usage of webbased software. Due to security reasons, changes to these settings on our part are not possible. Among other things, this might affect the following software: Chat, instant messaging, Skype Business software VPN-clients for accessing company or scientific networks Setting up wireless internet access for Smartphones, Ipad,... (mobile devices) The Bavarian State Library doesn't support wireless internet access for mobile devices by default. However, in many cases setup is possible: In your network settings, choose the network BSB-1 and enter the network key bsblesesaalwlan Your device has to support password protected proxy server configuration. Settings will either be determined automatically or have to be entered manually By default, devices running Android OS cannot be connected to our wireless network! 2

3. Conditions of Use 3.1.Conditions of use for electronic media The electronic media may be used exclusively by private users, for their own academic or other private purposes. In addition to researching and viewing on the screen it is admissible to also download and print out small extracts for this purpose. However, any systematic or automated download of data or database extracts is prohibited. Any type of use for commercial purposes is prohibited. 3.2. Conditions of use of the internet, statutory provisions Generally, the use of the internet in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is subject to the same regulation which is applicable also the use of books and other media: In accordance with the General Regulations on the Use of Bavarian Public Libraries (Allgemeine Benützungsordnung der Bayerischen Staatlichen Bibliotheken - ABOB) of 1 8 August 1 993, the offer serves for academic, professional or educational purposes, but not for entertainment. It is prohibited to call any entertaining, offensive or even illegal internet addresses. Concerning the latter, reference is made to the relevant protective provisions of the penal law, the protection of young persons act and the data protection law.
