Wireless internet access (WLAN, Wifi) inside BSB Users of the Bavarian State Library can access the Internet in all reading rooms by choosing between several connections. Outside our reading rooms, access points are not installed extensively. Access to the Internet via the in-house WLAN of the BSB Short note Beeing at least 1 8 years old and having a valid user card, registered users of the Bavarian State Library can use the in-house WLAN The network name (SSID ) required for logging in is: BSB-1 Data transmission is encrypted via WPA standard. Therefore a network key is required which must be entered when getting connected. It is: bsblesesaalwlan Activate the Setting for Auto Proxy-Detection, located within the network settings of your operation system or web browser If any problems occur, you can enter the proxy settings manually (in different fields, depending on the operating system and browser) IP number of proxy server: 1 72.1 7.1.5 Port: 31 28 Technical user support If setting up the wireless internet access fails, please read the instructions on the following pages again carefully. In case of ongoing problems, please refer to our reference desks (General Reading Room, Ground Floor Area). Concerning network problems, the Bavarian State Library offers limited technical support. Detailed instructions for popular operating systems and web browsers, access information for non-registered visitors as well as our terms of use can be found on the following pages: WLAN for non-registered visitors WLAN and proxy settings for Microsoft Windows and Internet-Explorer Advice on the use of smartphones, tablet-computers, etc. WLAN and proxy settings for Apple Mac OS and Safari Proxy settings for Mozilla Firefox 1

WLAN inside the Munich Scientific Network (lrz, eduroam) for visitors without a user card - Short note Travelling scientists with access to eduroam as well as students and employees of Munich scientific institutions are provided with wireless access to the Internet through the LeibnizRechenzentrum inside the BSB. Lrz and eduroam networks (SSIDs) can be accessed at any time. Using a VPN client might be required Important information (English) has been made available online by the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum lrz: www.lrz.de/services/netz/mobil/wireless_en/ eduroam : www.lrz.de/services/netz/mobil/eduroam_en Please direct inquiries regarding technology or requirements for access of these networks to the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum. We cannot assist you in installing these WLAN connections! Technical and security information Data transmission in our network is effected in encoded form according to the WPA2 (WIFI Protected Access) safety standard for wireless networks. Individual access points encrypt via WPA-TKIP Individual, older notebooks do not support WPA, respectively WPA2 encryption standard. In this case, probably no network connection ist established (e.g. "No wireless networks found") Please keep your network drivers up to date Update your operating system on a regular basis Internet access provided through the BSB ist firewall-protected Even so, we suggest using Antivirus software Our proxy service as well as our firewall configuration might block the usage of webbased software. Due to security reasons, changes to these settings on our part are not possible. Among other things, this might affect the following software: Chat, instant messaging, Skype Business software VPN-clients for accessing company or scientific networks Setting up wireless internet access for Smartphones, Ipad,... (mobile devices) The Bavarian State Library doesn't support wireless internet access for mobile devices by default. However, in many cases setup is possible: In your network settings, choose the network BSB-1 and enter the network key bsblesesaalwlan Your device has to support password protected proxy server configuration.
