Requirement for HI Training and Education LTMHI note that effective treatment of patients is dependant on: The availability, quality and accuracy of information The ability of health professionals to access, use and manage information about individuals Making Information Count promote the need and value of a skilled HI workforce: Information and technology does contribute to improved patient care The training and development in HI skills and knowledge does contribute to the effectiveness of the NHS workforce 4

Phase 3 Planning the Building the Infrastructure in NHS Wales Provide funding to NHS Wales to embed HI into NHS structures (following approval of a business case and implementation plans) Commission the development of HI modules 12

HI for all in practice A seamless transfer from HEI s to NHS organisations HI skills will be identified in KSfs with training and education solutions available (e learning or otherwise) 13
