They will act as an academic mentor to nurses, midwives and AHP s. The post holder will lead the way in the development of innovative clinical academic career pathways for nurses, midwives and AHP s at the trust. The post holder will be responsible for delivery of a joint programme of workshops to provide nurses AHPs and midwives with the skills to develop original research ideas to funding and publication. They will work with clinical services to support the embedding of clinical academics within services and create cogent arguments in support of the sustainability of clinical academic posts, their value to the organisations and the wider NHS The post-holder will develop a programme of research relevant to the trust and HEI research priorities. They will support the full research cycle from the development of ideas to the implementation and dissemination of research findings into practice. The post holder will be expected to maintain a clinical commitment of no less than 1 session per week commensurate to their clinical competence.

Link to Values ROLE DUTIES MEASURABLE OUTCOMES 1. Be responsible for the implementation of the Nursing, Midwifery and AHP research strategy for LTHTR 2. To develop a programme of research relevant to Trust and HEI priorities An action plan to support the Nursing Midwifery and AHP research strategy will be evident. Improvements and achievements working towards meeting the action plan goals will be identified. Nursing, Midwifery and AHP staff across the organisation will be aware of the aims and objectives of the strategy and feel more engaged in research and innovation programmes. An increasing number of nurses, midwives and AHP s will be proactively engaged in research and innovation activities and programmes. Trust and HEI priorities mapped and aligned Research protocols developed fitting with trust and HEI research priorities 3. Identify and bid for grant funding relevant to own research interests and in support of mentees Attends relevant committees at Trust and HEI to inform strategic development Produces or contributes to high level papers for Trust and HEI management outlining strategy Submission of minimum 1 grant application per year as lead or co-applicant Year on year increase in percentage of salary grant funded x x 8. Contribute to the supervision of junior researchers and research degree students both within the Trust and with the University 9. Contribute to the teaching and assessment of students/staff in the School/Trust 10. Promote the dissemination of research at the University and Trust through project reports, conferences, courses, publications and public engagement. 11. Publish research findings regularly in outlets of good international standing, commensurate with the requirements of the UK Research Excellence Framework. 12. Maintain and further develop the University and Trusts external national and international contacts related to the relevant research areas. Carry out research administrative duties as required. Completion of IRAS forms to a high standard and submitted according to the Trust or HEI sponsor review process Timely and accurate completion of administration requirements for funders Undertaking any review panel responsibilities in a timely and reliable fashion Completing and administrative duties associated with acting as CI or PI on research studies to a high standard evidenced through audit from Trust and HEI
