Geotechnical Survey This kind of survey was born to be used for the planning and realization of a Vibrocorerdesigned for marine geotechnics. Over the years Geomarinehas increased its range of machines and services, improving their efficiency and reliability both in shallow and deep water, owing to the growing experience of our planner and technical staff. GravityCore RL 100 / 200: using the gravity system, the cores have secion size from 63 or 90 mm in diameter, while penetration reaches up to 4.0 m, are contained in a transparent plastic sample holder that allows a first description of the physical. Lithologies sampled: silt / clay-silt. VibroCore TM 02/03: The GeomarineVibrocoreris a high frequency (50 Hz), electrically driven, vibrocorersystem capable to penetrate fast into seabed sediments mainly siltysand and sandy sediments. The three standard configuration is designed for taking cores of 6 m length in ordinary HDPE liners. The system can be easily modified for taking cores of 6.0 m, 4.5 m and 3.0 m length. Van VeenGrab:uses a mechanical system for the sampling surface of the seabed; consists of two half cylinders that rotate on a central pivot, the locking system is activated by steel cables. For sampling area of 250-1000 cm 2. BoxCorer: uses a mechanical system to take samples of the seabed surface,consistsofacentralbodywithasampleareaof400cm 2.

Bathymetric Surveys SINGLE BEAM ECHOSOUNDERS (SBES) Fast and economic system to acquire bathymetric data and to investigate areas that are not very large (50,000 to 100,000 m 2 ). The bathymetric data are acquired continuously using a precision echosounder hydrographic model. HYDROTRAC "ODOM", operating at 200 khz frequency. ACQUISITION The feature digital output sounder is interfaced with the navigation system, thereby ensuring the precise position of each depth measurement. All parameters set-up echo (pulse duration, gain, etc..) are plotted on the graphic recording every 5 fix. The position of the transducer in relation to the point of DGPS antenna and defendants are always defined in the software (offset longitudinal and lateral offset). The depth of immersion of the transducer, is set to consistently draft of the vessel, is also measured before the start of each recording, the speed of sound in water and set the recorder ODOM, using the method of BAR- CHECK. MULTIBEAM ECHOSOUNDERS (MBES) An innovative technology capable of providing sophisticated and very high standards of quantity and quality of information produced. Multibeambathymetry is based on the fact that more beams are better than one. They map seafloor by generating several hundred beams over a crosstrackprofile for each ping, and each beams generates at least one depth sounding. With this acquisition instrumentation for switching from single points (beam) along the shipping route (traditional fishfinder) continues to capture using > 100 beams simultaneously covering a range of depth equal to 3/5 times the depth investigated. This type of acquisition as well as save you a lot of time, allows us to know more precisely the actual morphology of the seabed with their respective shares bathymetric being obtained, the latter for direct measurement and not by interpolation. Singlebeam Echo Sounder Multibeam Echo Sounder

Bathymetric Surveys PROCESSING AND FINAL REPORTING In the processing of acquired data, all data are verified, any errors are corrected position while the bathymetric data is corrected with the value of the local tide. The reporting of data is supplied in 2D and 3D at different scales, on paper and digital, where they are represented equidistant isobathymetric lines that depends on the scale factor. MBES transductor DTM Multibeam Survey Wreck search Pipeline Inspections

Morphological Survey(Side Scan Sonar) INTRODUCTION The morphology of the seabed area to be investigated is evaluated with the use of Side Scan Sonar. This system used to identify the different lithologieson the seabed (sand, gravel, rock, mud, Posidonia, Cymodocea, etc..), also used to search for objects scattered on the seabed (wrecks). The principle is based on different acoustic response that give these lithotypes. The sonar system uses advanced digital technology to produce images with high resolution Side Scan Sonar. ACQUISITION The SSS system consists of an aerodynamically shaped said "Tow Fish" (4), with a transducer and pulled from the boat via the data cable (2), the same cable used to connect the "Tow Fish" with a digital recording system (1-3), equipped with an automatic correction of the data and interfaced with the navigation system (6-7-8). The distance between the shipping lines depends on the range of use of sonar.

Morphological Survey(Side Scan Sonar) INTERPRETATIONS AND REPORTING The final reporting is a chart where they are mapped the different lithologiesencountered as rocks, upper and lower limits of Posidoniaand its different units, etc... Detail of photomosaicwith a matte of Posidonia Blocks connected by chains of mussel farming systems with identification of targets and their position Example of morphological chart

Geophysical Investigation INTRODUCTION The stratigraphyof the seabed area to be investigated is examined by the Sub Bottom Profiler, Boomer and Sparker Systems. These systems allows you to identify the lithostratigraphicsequence present on the seabed. The principle is based on the different speed of sound propagation within the sediment, the faster and more pronounced will be the acoustic response. The penetration and reflection depend both on the physical properties of the material through which the power and carrier frequency signal. ACQUISITION The reflected pulses are received by the same acoustic transducer used for the transmission and the resulting electrical signal is recorded on a paper chart recorder. The system uses digital technology "Chirp" to produce advanced highresolution images. Area to be investigated, transects are carried out far from each other depending on the degree of resolution and precision to be obtained from the survey. The SBP system consists of a hardware unit that remains on board the vessel which records and processes the information acquired and a transducer that is immersed in the sea and attached to the boat.

Geophysical Investigation(Sub Bottom Profiler) INTERPRETATIONS AND REPORTING The acquired data (seismic profiles) are interpreted to reconstruct the sedimentary thicknesses of the same lithologies of sediments. The interpretation results are plotted on maps which are highlighted through the mapping of "isocronopache" the thicknesses of the different lithologies investigated. Stratigraphic sequence of the different stages of erosion / filling the bed of the river Metauro Pipeline (gas) buried under the surface of seabed

Environmental Survey Geomarine studies the interaction between the terrestrial and marine ecosystems, with particular attention to the human pressure on the latter. The study of the coastal marine environment and in particular, requires an integration of multiple specialties: physical oceanography, water and sediment chemistry, meteorology, marine geophysics, sedimentology, and marine biology. The goals that characterize the environmental research are different: coastal protection, beach nourishment of sandy coasts, pollution control of water and sediment, wildlife protection, management systems discharge into the sea and taken by the civil and industrial networks. For monitoring chemical -physical devices are installed for the automatic removal of samples and for the continuous analysis of some parameters (ph, temperature, conductivity, salinity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll). MultiparametricProbe: CTD is a new generation of precisely measuring the physical characteristics of water (conductivity, temperature, pressure, ph, dissolved O2, etc..). All the collected data is stored on internal memory and / or are transmitted continuously to the surface in real time. A software checks the data collection and subsequent processing. Current meter: allows to calculate the speed, direction and frequency of the current values that are stored in RAM. The software processes all the data eliminating noise due turmoil. Water Sampling Bottle: to measure the chemical -physical characteristics of the water column samples are taken at different depths, the measurements are repeated with different frequencies according to the purpose required. The bottles are triggered using messenger weights.

Laboratory Analyses PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION Particle size analysis are carried out to quantify the presence in the percentage of each size fraction in the sediment according to the different national and international (U.S. Standard, British Standard, National Research Council -UNI, etc..). The most coarse sediment (gravel and sand - that is, land above 0,075 mm grain size) is divided by mechanical sieving, while for the finer (mudstones, less than 0,075 mm grain size) is used as the analysis methodology by sedimentation or Sedigraf. Are also certain physical parameters (moisture, specific gravity and weight volume) and statistics (average, classazione, appointments, and asymmetry) of the sediment, which are useful for information on the processes that led to its sedimentation. CHEMICAL ANALYSES As part of environmental studies are certain chemical and mineralogical characteristics of sediments: Atomic Absorption for the determination of heavy metals in sediments (eg Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic). Chemical analysis for the determination of the presence of organic pollutants (eg PCBs, hydrocarbons). X-ray diffraction for the qualitative and semi - quantitative mineralogical composition of the main clay fraction. CALCIMETER for the determination of CaCO3 content of sediments. ph, Eh in the sediments. Organic matter/ Carbon/ Nitrogen/ Phosphorus. BIOLOGICAL ANALYSES Description of benthic marine communities through bionomic criteria. Characterization of benthic populations through quantitative analysis and structural composition. Estimates of environmental quality using biotic index (indicator species, sensitive species, ABC curves, curves of K - dominance). Environmental monitoring short-and long-term through the study of the dynamics of populations.
