Corporate P r ofile 3.21 SERVICES Horizon s services support every stage in the development of offshore and nearshore facilities. These include geophysical and geotechnical investigations to provide the information required by engineers designing offshore platforms, pipelines and cables, and to support dredging, reclamation and other nearshore civil works. Shallow seismic records are interpreted by Horizon s geophysicists to understand complex seabed geology and sonar records are used to map seabed features that have been identified and located during the survey. Horizon s geotechnical engineers examine soil samples recovered from drilling operations to calculate soil strength and perform foundation engineering studies required by the engineers and designers of offshore structures. Horizon provides precise positioning services during seismic programmes, rig moves, construction and dredging projects. Data from underwater ROV inspections of pipelines and cables are collected and interpreted by Horizon s inspectors to report on the condition of those facilities to the client s maintenance engineers. Horizon s MetOcean engineers study the marine environment including, tides, currents, waves and meteorological conditions as well as physical and chemical composition of seawater. Custom Solutions Horizon staff have designed and programmed bespoke survey software to support offshore structure installations, including the capability to simultaneously track multiple ROV s, subsea structures and surface vessels. No matter how complex a project, Horizon can create fully customised solutions for all offshore survey and geotechnical requirements. Fleet Capabilities Horizon has its own permanently mobilized ocean going vessels for offshore geophysical and geotechnical surveys. Horizon s geophysical vessel is fitted with a complete geophysical survey spread and is additionally capable of seabed sampling using gravity corer, vibrocorer and seabed CPT. An observation class ROV can also be mobilized as required. Horizon s geotechnical vessel is fitted with a heave compensated drilling rig and a comprehensive soil testing laboratory. Nearshore capability includes self propelled jack-up barges for geotechnical investigations and shallow draft survey launches for hydrographic and MetOcean surveys in coastal waters.
