www.offthemaptravel.co.uk 0800 566 8901 info@offthemaptravel.co.uk Grand Aurora Tour Experience the best of Northern Scandinavia on this tour through Norway, Sweden and Finland. All three destinations have been hand-picked for this very special trip as they are some of the best places in the world for experiencing the amazing aurora borealis. A specialist northern lights guide will take care of you and your group and ensure that you have a wonderful trip. By day you will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the best winter activities and in the evening your search for the Northern Lights will take you out into the dark frozen night. Example Itinerary Grand Aurora Tour Day 1 Arrive in Tromso airport, Northern Norway and meet your Aurora guide for your tour. Transfer to your superior room in the centre of this interesting small Arctic city. Settle into your accommodation, do some shopping and then spend the evening at leisure. Day 2 After your breakfast meet up with a local guide who will take you on a walk around the city of explain a little about its history and what it is like to live in the Arctic. Your walk will end with a tour around Polaria, one of the best museums in Tromso where you will also get to feed the seals. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy some shopping, relax or go for a walk. In the evening head out on a Northern Lights dinner cruise. A cruise into the darkness including a fish supper. Day 3 Day at leisure to enjoy one of Tromso's museums or do some shopping. In the evening your guide will drive you out to the beautiful Lyngen Alps where you will meet up with some reindeer for a sledding tour under the dark skies and hopefully Aurora. Day 4 After your breakfast it is time to say goodbye to Tromso for now and enjoy the journey though the mountains and into Swedish Lapland. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos and enjoy the fresh air. Arrive in Bjorkliden and check into your large hotel room. Enjoy a meal in the restaurant and then head straight out in search of the Aurora on a Lights over Lapland photography evening our most popular Aurora tour! Day 5 After breakfast head into Abisko National Park to meet your bunch of barking huskies for a thrilling dogsled tour through the snowy forests. If you are lucky you may even spot an elk. Afternoon at leisure to take a sauna or go for a walk. After dinner your guide will help you search for the Aurora using the latest forecasts. Day 6 After breakfast experience a true Arctic day. Snowmobiling, ice fishing, a walk on the frozen lake and reindeer cooked on the fire are all on the menu! In the evening head to the world-famous Aurora sky station for a 4 course exclusive supper. You will be lifted into complete darkness for one of the best possible views of the northern lights. Day 7 After breakfast say goodbye to Abisko and head to the ICEHOTEL for a few hours looking around the amazing ice chapel, ice bar and art suites. After lunch continue your journey over the border to what some would say is true Lapland Finland! A slight change of landscape as the mountains give way to forests but still absolutely breathtaking. Arrive in Kilpisjarvi and check into your deluxe Saana chalet and settle in. Enjoy a delicious meal in the restaurant and then head out onto the lake in search of the Aurora with your guide. Day 8 After breakfast it is time for an exciting self-drive snowmobile tour to the border point where Finland meets Sweden and Norway! To stand at this point and see the mountains of all 3 countries near the end of your trip will feel like a great accomplishment! Afternoon at leisure or you can enjoy a snowshoe hike with A guide and a sauna followed by a dip in the lake! In the evening you will enjoy a meal cooked in a traditional Finnish Kota on an open fire. Day 9 After breakfast it is time to head out and meet a traditional reindeer herder. Kilpisjarvi is one of the last areas still herding reindeer in this way so it is a once-ina-lifetime experience to see hundreds of reindeer in their natural habitat. In the evening you will enjoy one final Aurora trip. You will be pulled in a large sled by a snowmobile up into the mountains to a dark spot, enjoy coffee and a snack around the warming fire and then wait for the green to appear! Day 10 After breakfast cross the border back into Norway and head back to Tromso for one night. Again the journey will show you lots of interesting Arctic scenery. Arrive in Tromso and check back into the Clarion The Edge. Enjoy your last evening at the amazing Fiskekompaniet restaurant where you will enjoy a 5 course supper with accompanying wine some of the most delicious food in the Arctic circle in our opinion! Day 11 Enjoy breakfast and then check out and head back to the airport. Say goodbye to the Arctic and the rest of your group and return home with some amazing memories and photographs!
