Connecting to an ASU computer with Remote Desktop The ASU computer you wish to connect to must be configured to allow remote access and you must find out the computer name, the methods are different between Windows XP and Windows Vista or Windows 7. Both methods are listed below. ***IMPORTANT*** The ASU Computer MUST be left powered on when you depart ASU The ASU Computer CANNOT have the Cisco SSL VPN client active on it while you are trying to remotely connect to it. This may be an issue if you use Advantage Desktop at ASU. The ASU Computer cannot use the VPN client while being remote controlled, you cannot remote in and use Advantage Desktop. The Cisco AnyConnect SSL VPN software must be installed and running on the computer at home, or wherever you are connecting from, to remote connect to an ASU computer. Please browse to http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/selfhelpkbview.seam?parature_id=8373-8193- 4908. Full instructions on installing and using the SSL VPN client software are located on this webpage. You do not need to be logged into the ASU computer, so it may be left at the screen asking you to press Control- Alt- Delete to log in.
