1 INTRODUCTION In Netwrk, nrmally cexist different sevices and prtcls wrking tgether withut altering between them t the crrect peratin f each. I n this case, IPTV s ystem uses different netwrk services and prtcls amng there are sme, such as vide (Transprt Stream), which need t be priritized r simply separated frm the thers t nt affect perfrmance. Amng the services and prtcls used by IPTV system the vide services is that mre quality f service requires, s there is essential t separate system services. With this bjective has been defined netwrk tplgy cmbined star and tree technlgy based in VLAN (Virtual Lcal Area Netwrk) that achieved the separatin f services by creating different VLAN. Belw is the structure and netwrk addressing desired fr IPTV system, as well as the characteristics r minimum specificatins fr netwrk electrnics. 1

4 NETWORK DESIGN BASED ON VLAN Aspects t cnsider when cnfiguring and installing the netwrk based n VLAN: Separatin f traffic by VLAN. Vide VLAN must be defined t separate the vide traffic frm the rest f traffic wrking in the same installatin. 5 IP ADDRESSING Fr the VLAN which cmses the system the fllwng netwrk address es and gateway are specified: VLAN IPTV Server Server Default IP f VLAN IPTV is: 172.23.202.1/16 Server IP fr intranet (Client LAN): Must be defined by netwrk administratr Default dynamic IP n DHCP: frm 172.23.0.128 t 172.23.0.254 (prtable) Default static IP assigned in DHCP fr STB: frm 172.23.x.1 t 172.23.x.254 (Nt use 172.23.202.20 because is the default Gateway fr IPTV Server). Default static IP fr the rest f netwrk equipment: 172.23.1.x (headend/streamer/switches ) Default multicast addressing range frm 239.255.0.0 t 239.255.255.254 Multicast ad dressing ra nge fr ST B manage ment: 225.10.10.10 & 22 5.50.50.x (x depending f STB mdel). 4

IGMP Querier must be managed frm IPTV VLAN. Unknw Multicast Filtering. Switches must permit multicast trafficc required by STBs thrugh IGMP and t filter the rest f traffic. This characteristic is knwn as unregistered multicast prt filtering. VLAN Intra net access: t permit access f 22 prt f IP designed by netwrk administratr. 8 INTERNET ACCESS THROUGH IPTV SERVER T enable a ll the services which IPTV sftware ffers, the system must access t internet thrugh the IPTV server.
