Introduction The International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) will be holding its 141st Annual Conference in Berlin from Sunday, 13th September until Wednesday, 16th September 2015. The Berlin Conference is considered the highpoint of the marine insurance calendar and offers national and international insurance companies a platform for dialogue and ex-change of experience. The event will be will be hosted by the German Insurance Association (GDV) and held at the Hotel InterContinental. Delegates must be a member of his/her country's National Marine Insurance Organisation attached to IUMI. 2
The IUMI The IUMI is a professional body which is run by and for its members. Members of the IUMI are national insurance and marine insurance associations and professionals (IPPs), all related to the activity of marine insurance, such as legal/law firms, surveying/adjusting firms, and business intelligence and software providers. The IUMI was founded originally as a marine insurance association in Berlin in 1874. Its head office moved in 2013 from Zurich, Switzerland to Hamburg, Germany. The IUMI's primary objective is to represent, safeguard and support the interests of marine insurers. To this end, the IUMI promotes the collaboration of national markets on an international basis and facilitates the exchange of knowledge in the areas of insurance (primary and reinsurance), technology and crime. The IUMI is represented at the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) in London as an NGO with consultative status. The IUMI Annual Conference 2015 in Berlin More than 500 marine insurance experts as delegates and 150 accompanying persons from across the world are expected to attend over four days to the IUMI Annual Conference 2015 in Berlin. The Conference is the world's biggest international marine insurance forum and the cornerstone of all IUMI activities in 2015. The Conference is organized each year by a different guest country. After an absence of 16 years, Berlin is proud to once again host the Conference in 2015. Voting System Sponsorship The voting or audience response system is used during the conference when speakers conduct an enaging interactive question. All delegates will receive a voting device at the beginning of each conference day. When voting begins, delegates place their votes and the keypad immediately notifies the delegate that their vote has been counted. Once the votes are captured and recorded, the results can be instantly displayed on screen.
