ABOUT THE NATIONAL WOMEN S SOCCER LEAGUE NATIONAL WOMEN S SOCCER LEAGUE The National Women s Soccer League (NWSL) is a ten-team women s professional soccer league featuring national team players from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. The ten clubs are the Boston Breakers, Chicago Red Stars, Houston Dash, FC Kansas City, Portland Thorns FC, Seattle Reign FC, Sky Blue FC, Washington Spirit, Western New York Flash and expansion side Orlando Pride. Based in Chicago, the NWSL is supported by an unprecedented international collaboration between the Canadian Soccer Association, the Federation of Mexican Football and the United States Soccer Federation. Each of the league s ten clubs will play a total of 20 games from April through October, with a schedule consisting of 10 matches at home and 10 away with an Olympics break in August. 2

ABOUT THE CHICAGO RED STARS Second longest operating professional women s soccer franchise in the country. One of the strongest female soccer brands between the coasts. A roster with the best players in the world World Cup superstars, Olympians and D-1 college standouts. For nearly a decade, has delivered the affluent family household demographic to sponsors. Established in 2007, the Chicago Red Stars began as one of seven teams competing in the Women s Professional Soccer(WPS) league, which lasted from 2009-2011. Red Stars win U.S. Open Cup Championship. NWSL expands to nine teams, with the addition of MLS franchise Houston Dash. Red Stars add U.S. Women s National team players Christen Press and Julie Johnston, as well as Canadian Olympians Karina LeBlanc and Melissa Tancredi. Julie Johnston is honored as NWSL Rookie of the Year. Red Stars join Women s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and finish as National Semi Finalists. Red Stars join seven other teams for the inaugural 2013 National Women s Soccer League season. U.S. Olympians Shannon Boxx and Lori Chalupny are added to the roster. Four Red Stars are part of the World Cup Winning American team. Red Stars earn NWSL Player of the Month honors for the first time in team history. (Christen Press, April. Danielle Colaprico is honored as NWSL Rookie of the Year. 3
