Program Info Sheet Resources & Flyers FAQ with Program Details

Here are some ways that you can participate: "Adopt" one specific boy and purchase/collect everything on his clothing list and approximately $100 worth of Wish List Items. Purchase/collect one particular item for each of the boys, e.g. a pair of indoor soccer shoes for each boy. Choose one of the items on the Group Wish List, which includes items that all of the boys will enjoy: games, sporting equipment, etc. Donate food for the holiday celebrations: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Donate monetarily toward: Decorations and flowers Bows, gift boxes, and scotch tape Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year s celebration food & supplies Special Mexican holiday traditions

How do I adopt a boy to sponsor him for Christmas? Every autumn, we generate a Santa s Helpers Wish List for each boy that contains both clothing items and special wish list items that each boy has requested. After the list is prepared, it is emailed to all interested donors, at the beginning of October. If you wish to sponsor one of the boys, email our office with your selection. How do I get added to the list to receive the email? Simply email our office (info@projectmexico.org) with your interest to be a Santa s Helper, and we will add you to the emailing list to receive all email correspondence regarding the program. What if the boy I want already has another sponsor? Sponsorships are made on a first come, first serve basis, so once the email list has been sent, do not delay in replying with your boy selection. If the boy you have requested is already sponsored, we will notify you and ask you to select another available boy. Your initial request may include two or three boys names, in case one of your choices has already been taken. Does one person have to sponsor a boy or can a group do it? Both are acceptable individual or group sponsorships. We have had entire parishes or church groups run this program as a collection drive. If it is a group sponsorship, we recommend that one person be the coordinator and contact person. Do you have any suggestions for doing Santa s Helpers as a group collection? There are several creative ways to get large groups/parishes involved, like having a Giving Tree with all the boy s items listed on tags, and each person/family can take a tag and purchase that particular item (see sample). If you would like more ideas, please contact our office. How much time do I have to collect the items/shop for my boy? You will have approximately 4-6 weeks. We kindly ask that all your generous gifts be received in our office within the first week of December. This deadline ensures that the boys will receive their gifts in time for Christmas. Please do not be late!

Do I have to buy all the clothing items on the list? Yes, please purchase ALL the clothing items listed for your boy. If you are unable to buy/collect all the items on the list, please notify us immediately. Is it necessary to buy all the Wish List items? No, it is not. In fact, in order to ensure fairness among boys, please do not purchase more than approximately $100 worth of Wish List items. We have given you several options for some boys, but you are not necessarily expected to buy them all. Do I have to wrap all the gifts or the box I send them in? No. Please do NOT wrap ANY of the items. The orphanage staff will do the wrapping after all the gifts have been inventoried and transported to the orphanage. How do I pack my box to send to the Project Mexico office? You may send the items in a sturdy cardboard box or in a Rubbermaid storage container, which can then be reused as a storage bin for your boy. Please include a packing slip listing all the contents and corresponding quantities of every item. Write the name of the boy clearly on the outside of the box and on multiple sides; this is very important! Also, please include your return address information on the box in the event there are difficulties during delivery. When should I mail my box? Please allow 7-10 business days for shipping and remember the program deadline when planning your shipping. Where do I mail my box? We have both a physical address and a PO Box. The mailing address you use will depend on the carrier you choose. Please note that the addresses are NOT interchangeable, and the correct address must be selected for the correct carrier. When mailing via the US Post Office, please address the box to: Project Mexico, PO Box 120028, Chula Vista, CA 91912 When mailing via UPS or FedEx, please address the box to: Project Mexico, 3802 Main Street, Suite 6, Chula Vista, CA 91911

When should I send in my donations? Each year, the program has a specific deadline that typically falls in the first week of December. It is important for our office to receive all the boys boxes and group gifts by this date so that we can inventory the items and send them to Mexico. Please refer to the Santa s Helpers Wish List email or call our office for the specific date deadline. Monetary donations are accepted until Christmas. If I can t sponsor a whole list for a boy, what else can I do? You can choose to buy and donate one of the items from the Group Wish List, which includes items that all the boys can enjoy as a group. Group Wish List items vary each year and can include games, sports equipment, and more. The Group Wish List is released via email at the same time as the individual list for each boy. Can I participate as a Santa s Helpers by giving a monetary donation? Yes, most certainly! We have many needs during the holiday season, and any monetary donation will go towards: decorations for the property, flowers for the chapel, bows, gift boxes, scotch tape, holiday dinners, special Mexican holiday traditions, and more. Can I donate goods and food items? Of course! During this time of year, we have many holiday meals for the boys, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year s meals. Any and all holiday food items and supplies are appreciated. Please contact us if you wish to donate goods or food items. How else can I participate? There is also the option of choosing to buy one particular item for each of the boys. For example, a pair of indoor soccer shoes for each boy. If you wish to do this, please contact our office before purchasing the items to share your ideas and interest. Who should I contact if I have questions? If you have questions regarding ANY aspect of the program, please call our office at 619-426-4610, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM PST, to speak to our Santa s Helpers Coordinator or email us at office@projectmexico.org.
