Explore its museum, providing insight into the history of the freemasons in Ireland. Dublin 4 THURSDAY 15JUN17 Morning departure to Galway, Ireland, straddling the River Corrib. En route, visit Charleville Castle, a neo-gothic castle that was the family seat of the Burys, said to be Freemasons. In 1798, Charles William Bury commissioned architect Francis Johnston, who designed the interior entrance of the castle to simulate a grand lodge. The building displays many signs of Freemasonry with symbols used throughout its design. Continue to Galway, enjoying a Freemason walking tour, including a visit to the Church of St. Nicholas, uncovering its hidden Templar origins, apprentice pillar and symbolic tombs. Onto the former Freemason Hall in Galway City. This evening, enjoy a medieval Banquet at Dunguaire Castle. Built in 1520 on the picturesque shores of Galway Bay, this restored 16 th century tower house sits on a rocky outcrop outside the picturesque village of Kinvara. Galway

DATE ITINERARY IN BRIEF ACCOMMODATION In 1924 Dunguaire was purchased and restored by Oliver St. John Gogarty, the famous surgeon and literary figure. It became a meeting venue for literary revivalists such as W.B. Yeats, his patron Lady Gregory, George Bernard Shaw, Edward Martin and J.M. Synge. Mirroring the tradition of King Guaire, be welcomed with a goblet of Mead in an inner chamber by the butler and ladies of the castle. After a short history of the castle and musical introduction, climb the stairs to the Banquet Hall. Next, a delicious dinner followed by an entertainment program of music, song and dance, including excerpts from famous literary writers associated with the Galway region including Yeats, Synge, Gogarty and Shaw. Some are believed to show New World plants such as cacti and corn, even though the carvings were created a century before Columbus landed in North America. Upon arrival to Glasgow, pay a visit to the magnificent Necropolis, overlooking Glasgow Cathedral, a rare example of Scottish Gothic architecture that predates the Reformation. Built as a final resting place for Glasgow's industrial elite, the Necropolis was Scotland's first nondenominational graveyard.
