2 Dear Intercoiffure friends! The date of our Western Europe Congress, held from Saturday May 2 nd 2015 to Monday May 4 th 2015, is coming close rapidly. A wonderful program has been created for you, with fantastic shows, excellent food, lovely excursions and friends from all over Europe, all situated in the exciting city of Amsterdam. Together with my president colleagues, I am pleased to invite all our Intercoiffure friends and colleagues from the Western European Region to this congress from May 2 nd to May 4 th. Registration will be handled by each country themselves, so your section will contact you on how to register. Please check with your section for accurate congress fees. 4 AMSTERDAM From its earliest days, Amsterdam has been a bustling hub of commerce that welcomed other cultures with open arms. Discover this lovely canalside city, including the rich history and development of its tolerant society. Or jump straight to the modern day and find out about the city s architecture and its colourful neighbourhoods. THE VAN GOGH MUSEUM SIGHTSEEING THE RIJKSMUSEUM Having opened on Museumplein in 1973, the Van Gogh Museum is one of the most popular museums in the world, attracting visitors from every corner of the globe. Naturally, this is in large part due to it housing the largest collection of works by Vincent van Gogh more than 200 paintings, 500 drawings and 700 of his letters. There are countless ways to see Amsterdam - including by bike, boat, bus or foot - as well as endless activities like sailing, museum tours or a windmill excursion, to suit every taste. A tour or excursion is a great way to discover Amsterdam, and gives you the chance to see and experience a side of the Netherlands' capital that you might never see. The Rijksmuseum is one of Amsterdam s grandest museums and it showed off its new (and old) look in April 2013, following 10 years of extensive restoration and renovation. Designed by renowned Dutch architect P.J.H. Cuypers, construction of the monumental building began in 1876 and it finally opened in 1885 as the largest museum in the Netherlands.

Post-Congress: Monday May 4 nd For the people who don t have meetings, there is the possibility to visit several museums, like the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh museum.
