2 SCOTLAND AGENT EDUCATIONAL TOUR Itinerary - March 31-April 6, 2014 MON, MAR 31 UNITED STATES TO GLASGOW Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight across the Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you travel to start your Visit Scotland Fam Trip. TUE, APR 1 GLASGOW ARRIVAL & SIGHTSEEING Land in Glasgow and after you disembark, pass through customs and immigration checks at the airport. Your CIE Tours guide will meet you in the Arrivals Hall, welcome you to Scotland and assist in transferring to your motorcoach. Take a tour to see the highlights of Glasgow where many fine Victorian buildings are made with local red sandstone. Drive around George Square, filled with statues of Sir Walter Scott, Queen Victoria and other influential people. See the Victorian City Chambers, opened in 1888 by Queen Victoria. Pass Glasgow Cathedral, a splendid 12 th century Gothic building dedicated to St. Mungo, the patron saint of the city. Stop to visit the Kelvingrove Art Museum. The building houses one of Europe's great civic art collections. It boasts 22 stateof-the-art themed galleries housing an astonishing 8000 objects, including a wide-ranging collection of paintings, natural history, arms and armor. Next enjoy a walking tour of Glasgow s historic Cathedral District. After your tour, check into your hotel. Take some time to settle in before dining independently. Travel across the haunting Rannoch Moor and through Glencoe, notorious for the Campbell massacre of the Clan Macdonald in Continue through Fort William and at Fort Augustus embark on a short cruise on Loch Ness to admire enchanting scenic views and perhaps spot the famous monster. The brutal measures imposed after the battle signaled the end of the distinctive Highland way of life and culture. Then motor south through the majestic scenery of the Highlands with many rugged peaks and past the Cairngorm Mountains and Aviemore, popular for winter sports. Stop to visit the Blair Atholl Distillery where you can see the process of whisky production and sample the finished product at the end of the tour. Then continue south through the countryside of Perthshire with its lush green rolling hills and into Edinburgh, capital of Scotland.
