2 Itinerary & Suggested Drives Pentahotel Leuven Centrum DAY 1 Morning P&O Ferry Crossing from Dover to Calais (alternative crossings available). Followed by the drive through Northern France & Belgium to Leuven and the Pentahotel, your base for the next 3 nights. After check-in the evening is at leisure in Leuven. DAY 2 - Day at leisure in Leuven... or Breakfast followed by a morning drive to the site of the Waterloo Battlefield where you can visit Lion Mound and the Panoramic Cinema (admission not included). The Wellington Café is open every day from am. From Waterloo we head into Brussels where you can visit to Autoworld. Autoworld is centrally situated in the exclusive halls of the Parc du Cinquantenaire, in one of the architectural showpieces in the heart of Brussels. More than 250 vehicles of various origins illustrate the spectacular development of vehicles over more than a century. From horse drawn carriages to exclusive sport cars from the 1960 s, from motorcycles with a rich history to the reconstruction of a garage from the twenties. Autoworld houses the general history of the automobile. Return to Leuven will be late afternoon/early evening. DAY 3 - Day at leisure in Leuven... or After breakfast we depart the hotel for a drive through the Belgian countryside stopping en route in Namur before continuing along the Meuse River valley to the picture-postcard town of Dinant. Free time in Dinant where you can have some lunch and take a boat trip before heading back to Leuven late afternoon/early evening. Mileage approx. 120 miles. Located right in Leuven's historical centre, Pentahotel Leuven features a fitness centre and an on-site bar & free WiFi in public areas. Rooms are air conditioned and feature a flat-screen TV, drink making facilities & private bathroom fitted with a shower and a hairdryer. A buffet breakfast is served daily in the hotel's common breakfast room and guests can enjoy Belgian beers in the on-site bar. Leuven's Central Market Square featuring the 15th-century gothic Town Hall and the St. Peter's Church is 400 metres from Pentahotel Leuven. The city's Old Market Square with its many bars and restaurants is 5 minutes' walk away. DAY 4 Departing Leuven after breakfast our route takes us via Kortrijk and on to Ypres & the surrounding battlefields area for a fitting visit to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of WW1. This region was the main British battlefront in World War I where more than 250,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers died. Starting at the preserved trenches at Sanctuary Wood and Hill 62 museum before moving on to Tyne Cot Cemetery. Then in the afternoon, head to the Messines Ridge sector and the nearby Irish Peace Tower, which commemorates the role of Irish troops from both North and South. At Ploegsteert you can learn the story of the Christmas Truce and see the Ploegsteert Memorial. After your visit to the Battlefields your journey takes you back via Northern France to Calais for a late afternoon/early evening
