Charwood Country Club Junior Golf Association () The program will involve: Clinics Rules Tests Play Days Tournaments Junior golfers will be placed in one of the following ability groups: 3-Hole 5-Hole 9-Hole 18-Hole Performance Points will be awarded based on participation, rules tests, quality practice time, and tournament performance. The junior with the most performance points, regardless of ability group, will be awarded the Keith Hessey - Performance Trophy $115 -- Full Member Cost $100 -- Members of Charwood Country Club/Juniors Sponsored by a Member Membership cost includes a membership gift package, all clinic fees, all tournament fees, and awards.
Mission Statement Our program will be dedicated to teaching juniors to have fun while playing the game of golf with success. Our staff is committed to providing a positive and exciting experience to their game. Gaining knowledge of the rules and understanding golf course etiquette is essential. Honesty, safety, and proper sportsmanship are the foundations of the golf s traditions. Code of Conduct All participants will be expected to act as young professionals at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, using polite language, walking on course property, adhering to the rules of golf, as well as practicing safety at all times. The dress code is defined as collared shirts, tucked in, with no denim. If the code is broken the consequences will be as follows: 1st Infraction -- Warning 2nd Infraction -- Dismissal From Event 3rd Infraction -- Suspension The committee reserves the right to modify the Code of Conduct as seen fit. Parents and spectators are encouraged to watch on play days. However, during these events, interaction shall be limited to positive remarks and applause only. Any other interaction or conversation will be considered advice and the player will be penalized accordingly.
Ability Group Structure 18-Hole Group Placement in group based on professional staff assessment or the ability to score 100 or better on a regular basis. All male participants of this group will play from the middle tees. Female golfers will compete from the forward tees. A completed rules quiz will be required to compete in a Play Day Event. 9-Hole Group Placement in group is based on professional staff assessment or the ability to score 55 or better on a regular basis. All male participants will play from the middle tees. Female golfers will play from the forward tees. Promotion to the 18-Hole Group will be completed when a participant scores 50 or better twice in a Play Day Event. A weekly rules quiz must be completed prior to participation in Play Day Events. 5-Hole Group Placement in group is based on professional staff assessment or any novice junior 10 years or older. This group will play from a designated area in the fairway. Promotion to the 9-Hole Group will be competed when a participant scores 28 or better twice in a Play Day Event. A weekly rules quiz will be completed during the Saturday Clinic prior to Play Day Event. 3-Hole Group Juniors 9 years and younger will begin the season in this ability group. Juniors have the opportunity to advance through as many ability groups as they desire based upon their performance. Promotion to the 5-Hole Group will be complete when a score of 18 or better is accomplished twice. All participants will play from the junior tees. Holes will range in distance from 100-180 yards.
Keith Hessey 2012 Player of the Year Performance Point Challenge Named after long-time Charwood Country Club member and dedicated junior golf contributor, the Keith Hessey Player of the Year Award will be given to the most deserving member who represents sportsmanship and desire to improve through hard work. This may not be the junior golfer who scores the best, but the junior golfer who demonstrates a solid work ethic throughout the junior golf season. Performance points will be awarded starting in May and continued throughout the duration of the program. Ways to earn performance points: Participation -- 5 points awarded for attending weekday/weekend clinics Rules Quizzes Play Day Events -- Points awarded based on finish Quality Practice -- Practice Sign-In sheets will be available in Pro Shop to record practice hours Weekly printouts of the performance points standings will be posted every Monday in the Pro Shop to keep junior golfers aware of where they stand in the Player of the Year race. This is the highest award available through the golf program.
Performance Points Breakdown Clinics Weekday -- 5 Points Weekend -- 7 Points Rules Tests/Clinics Each week all ability groups will receive a rules test. Each group s test will be unique and comprised of 5 questions. Each correct answer is worth 1 performance point. (5 points available) Play Day Events Medalist -- 20 Points 2nd -- 15 Points 3rd -- 12 Points 4th -- 7 Points All other players will receive 5 points for participation. Practice Performance Points Driving Range -- 1 Point Per Hour/Maximum of 2 Points Per Week Shortgame -- 2 Points Per Hour/Maximum of 8 Points Per Week Playing -- 2 Points Per Round/Maximum of 4 Points Per Week Weekly Maximum Practice Performance Points -- 14 points Practice Points will be recorded in the Pro Shop at the beginning and end of every practice session. Practice sessions are to be used as quality practice. Staff will monitor sessions to ensure quality practice and association rules are being followed. If a staff member views the practice session as wasteful, performance point deductions will be assessed.
Special Tournaments Junior Team Captain s Choice Event 1st Place Team -- 30 Points Each 2nd Place Team -- 20 Points Each 3rd Place Team -- 15 Points Each 4th Place Team -- 12 Points Each All other players will receive 8 points for participation. Pro Junior Team Challenge The 3 Teams will be captained by the professional staff. Each captain will draft their team and juniors will play in their ability groups as normal. The staff members will compete against each other to score additional points for their respected teams. 1st Place Team -- 25 Points Each 2nd Place Team -- 15 Points Each 3rd Place Team -- 10 Points Each Junior Club Championship Medalist -- 45 Points 2nd Place -- 35 Points 3rd Place -- 30 Points 4th Place -- 25 Points 5th Place -- 15 Points All other competitors will receive 10 points for participation.
