Supervisor - Engineering Civil Construction The City of Swan is the largest local government area within metropolitan Perth, covering more than 1,044 square kilometres and located less than 30 minutes from the Perth CBD. The City is a unique blend of residential, commercial, industrial and rural areas, including tourist destinations and historic sites. The City is responsible for over $2 billion of infrastructure including over 1,300km of roads, extensive stormwater drainage systems and footpaths. The City's construction crews undertake an interesting and varied range of work including multi-million civil construction projects. Strong and professional leadership, communication and presentation skills are required as you will be responsible for building and motivating multi disciplinary teams and liaising with a wide range of customers. To succeed in this role, you will have: Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering (Degree or Diploma) or 3-5 years practical experience in road & drainage construction and maintenance. Demonstrated experience in implementing works programs within specified quality standards, budget parameters and agreed timeframes Thorough knowledge and ability to motivate a team in proactively applying Occupational Safety & Health legislation, policies, procedures and practices Proficiency in a variety of MS Office and specialised software, and communication devices C Driver's License, Safety Awareness Training (White Card) The salary for this position is from $70,542 to $82,475 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant, plus commuter use of a City vehicle and up to 15.25% superannuation. POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT Supervise and monitor council staff and contractors involved in engineering construction and maintenance programmes. Qualifications and Experience Requirements (essential and beneficial) to effectively perform the role. 1. Qualifications Current C class drivers licence Essential Beneficial Comments Current National Police clearance Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering (Degree or Diploma) or 3-5 years practical experience in road & drainage construction and maintenance. Current Senior First Aid Certificate 2. Experience Experience in roadworks and drainage construction and maintenance projects Experience and ability to multi task on a number of projects. Experience and ability to motivate and develop work crews to ensure harmony within the crew. Experience in monitoring and controlling financial expenditure Experience in work's programming/scheduling and cost estimating Demonstrated ability to interpret plans and undertake engineering surveying (set out and levelling) Apply contemporary human resource management principles to all customers Experience in writing correspondence and provide factual information verbally either by telephone or in person to a wide range of customers in a timely manner Lead and facilitate team meetings promoting OHS requirements and participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
