Studet Services Academic Advisig The Admissios ad Academic Advisig office provides support programs ad services to assist Walsh College studets i achievig their goals. Academic advisors are available to help studets choose programs, majors ad assist with selectig a career field. All studets are ecouraged to meet with a advisor durig their first semester ad thereafter as eeded. Studets are also ecouraged to meet with a advisor if they experiece academic difficulties, would like assistace selectig classes, have questios about their academic program, or seek tutorig assistace. The academic Program Pla provided to studets upo admissio outlies the course of study at Walsh College based o the Catalog i effect at the time of admittace. Studets may chage their degree program, major, or update their program to the ewest catalog year with approval of a advisor i the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office. All curret admissios requiremets ad policies will apply. Studets are ecouraged to review their program requiremets each year. A advisor ca cofirm courses remaiig for program completio ad review the cumulative ad major grade poit averages to esure that studets are meetig the expected requiremets. Studets ca check their progress by viewig their Program Pla through our WebAdvisor olie studet portal system. Throughout a studet s course of study, cocers of a persoal ature may be experieced that could hider academic success. Academic advisors are qualified to offer optios or appropriate referrals to exteral resources for ay persoal couselig issues. Chage of Major, Mior, or Degree Program A studet who would like to explore chagig majors, miors, or degree programs should schedule a appoitmet with a academic advisor to discuss available optios. A studet desirig to chage his/her degree program, major, or mior must officially request this chage with a academic advisor. A complete evaluatio will be required to determie appropriateess ad fulfillmet of admissios criteria for the ew degree or major. The studet will be placed o the most curret program of study ad a ew Program Pla will be created. All curret admissios requiremets ad policies will apply. I additio, iteratioal studets must see a iteratioal studet advisor so that proper chages ca be made to their I-20s. Request for Guest Studet Status Studets must request permissio through the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office to eroll as a guest studet at aother istitutio. Erollig as a guest studet is permitted o a approved basis oly. For more iformatio, please refer to the Guest Studet at Aother Istitutio sectio of this Catalog. New Studet Orietatio/Campus Tours The Admissios ad Academic Advisig office will provide ew studets the opportuity to become acquaited with the College s academic ad admiistrative staff, policies, ad studet orgaizatios. Iformatio about campus services ad academic programs will be provided. The ew studet orietatio is accessible i a olie format, located i the Active Campus Portal. New studet orietatio sessios will also periodically be offered i a o-groud format. Upo admissio, studets will receive iformatio o how to access the olie ew studet orietatio ad future dates for o-groud sessios. To schedule a campus tour, please cotact the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office. Disability Services Studets with documeted disabilities should cotact a disability services represetative withi the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office immediately after beig admitted to the College, or wheever they require accommodatios. A member of the diability services team will meet with the studet to establish reasoable accommodatios to icrease the potetial for success at Walsh College. Requests for accommodatios should be made as far i advace as possible i order to provide disability services with ample time to make the appropriate arragemets. Tutorig Walsh College takes a very supportive positio i assistig studets ad offers tutorig services or selected courses each semester. Tutors are valuable resources whe studets are experiecig academic difficulties or wish to icrease their level of uderstadig i a subject area. Although every effort is made to have tutors available for every studet who eeds oe, the College caot guaratee that there will be a tutor for every class. Studets are ecouraged to request a tutor as early i the semester as possible to better esure the chace of obtaiig a tutor. Studets requirig a tutor should cotact Studet Academic Success Services, or go olie to myportal.walshcollege.edu, ad click Studet Services/ Tutorig, the Fid a Tutor. Oce the studet completes ad submits the Tutor Request Form, he/she ca select ad cotact a tutor from the olie tutor list. There is a omial fee for tutorig. Walsh College has received a grat to provide tutorig labs for udergraduate accoutig, commuicatios, ad statistics courses, as well as graduate quatitative methods courses. These labs are o a walk-i basis ad are free of charge to studets. The schedule of labs is posted o the Walsh College portal. 72

Studet Services Bookstore Bares ad Noble has partered with Walsh College to provide bookstore services. There are two bookstore locatios oe at the Troy campus ad oe at the Novi campus. The Troy bookstore carries books for all campus locatios icludig olie classes. The Novi bookstore carries books for classes located i Novi as well as for olie classes. Both stores offer spirit clothig, school supplies, ad gift items. Please check out the store evets listig foud at the bottom right sectio o the mai bookstore page (www.walshcollege.bcollege.com) for more iformatio o textbook buyback, last day to use fiacial aid i the bookstore, special hours, exteded hours, special evets, ad other useful iformatio. Orderig Textbooks For the coveiece of all Walsh College studets, Bares ad Noble has established a Website, located at www.walshcollege.bcollege.com. Studets may have books delivered to the Troy or Novi campus free of charge, or shipped to their home or office (o P.O. boxes) for a small additioal fee. Textbooks ca also be paid for via fiacial aid or direct bill to employers o the website or i the store. Studets who use these paymet methods must cotact the Troy campus bookstore i advace of placig a order. Computer Software Bares ad Noble offers a variety of computer software at great savigs through a partership with www.thikedu.com/b. Textbook Refud Policy A full refud will be give i the origial form of paymet if course materials are retured with origial receipt withi the first seve days of the school s semester. With proof of a schedule chage ad a receipt, a full refud will be give i the origial form of paymet durig the first 30 days of classes. All specialty referece book refuds will be give i the origial form of paymet with a receipt withi three days of purchase. No refuds o course materials will be give without a receipt. Shippig ad hadlig charges are ot refudable. Book Buy-Back Book buy-back dates for best prices will be posted each semester i the bookstores ad o Facebook (www.facebook.com/walshcollegebookstore), ad o Twitter (www.twitter.com/walshbookstore). Textbooks selected by Walsh College istructors for use i the followig semester will be purchased from Walsh College studets at approximately 50 percet of the retail price util ivetory requiremets are met. Books brought i for buy-back after the stores eeds are met will be purchased at curret wholesale prices. The bookstores provide wholesale book buy-back year-roud. This service allows studets to sell books eve though they are ot eeded by our campus stores. Prices paid uder this program are determied by market forces ad are set by the wholesale compay. A driver s licese or state ID is required to utilize book buy-back. Busiess Office The Busiess Office collects tuitio paymets, processes tuitio vouchers, ad assists studets with questios o charges, paymets ad other accouts receivable issues. Tuitio ad Fees To obtai the curret tuitio ad fee expeses ad paymet due dates, studets should refer to the Registratio Materials/ Schedule of Classes each semester or the Curret Studets/ Tuitio ad Fees sectio of the College Website, or cotact the Busiess Office at busiess@walshcollege.edu or call (248) 823-1620. Tuitio Paymet Methods Whe registerig for classes, studets are eterig ito a fiacial obligatio, which icludes o-refudable fees. Studets may make full paymet of tuitio ad fees after registratio. Refer to the Tuitio ad Fees sectio of the College website for how to make a paymet or utilize oe of the followig paymet methods listed below. Studets usig fiacial aid or ay other form of tuitio assistace are resposible to esure that all required paperwork is submitted by the appropriate due date. Deferred Paymet Pla Studets who do ot make full paymet of tuitio ad fees after registratio may pay off their accout i two equal istallmets. If the balace is ot paid i full by the full tuitio due date, studets will be placed o the Deferred Paymet Pla automatically ad charged a $20 o-refudable fee. Studets are resposible for makig paymets by the due dates. Paymets that arrive after the secod due date or partial paymets will be assessed a $20 late fee. Qualified Employer or Third Party Voucher This optio is available to studets whose employer or other third party pays the College directly for tuitio ad/or fees. The paymet of tuitio must ot be depedet o grades. Oly official employer vouchers or purchase orders will be accepted. Applicatios for vouchers will ot be accepted. Direct billig of all third parties will take place after the add/drop period. Vouchers ca oly be accepted util the first paymet due date. If vouchers are received after this date, a $20 deferred fee ad/or late fees will apply. Submittig a employer or third party voucher does ot release a studet s liability of tuitio ad fees. Studets are resposible for ay balace their voucher may ot cover or if their employer fails to pay Walsh College. 73

Studet Services Fiacial Aid/Scholarship Paymets Studets must complete ad file all ecessary paperwork to receive fiacial aid (icludig scholarships, grats, ad loas). Please refer to the Fiacial Aid sectio of this Catalog. Fiacial aid/scholarship paymets will be applied to studet accouts after the add/drop period. Fiacial aid recipiets are permitted to charge books to their accout util the add/drop period is over. The bookstore will have a list of all eligible studets. If aid exceeds the tuitio ad fees charges, a refud will be issued where appropriate. Refud checks are issued weekly. If a balace remais o a studet s accout after aid is applied, paymet is due i full by the last deferred paymet date. GI Bill Educatio Beefits Studets must complete ad file all ecessary paperwork to receive GI Bill Educatio Beefits. Chapter of eligibility will determie how tuitio ad fees are to be paid to the College. Please refer to the Vetera Studets sectio of this Catalog. Studets are resposible for ay balace ot paid by their GI Bill Educatio Beefits. Refer to the appropriate Beefit packet for more iformatio ad paymet deadlies. MET Studets that have a MET accout set up with the State of Michiga eed to iform the MET office that they will be attedig Walsh College. The MET office will submit the appropriate paperwork to Wash College idicatig the balace i the MET accout. Accout Statemets Accout statemets ad FAQs are available olie via Web Advisor by loggig i to the portal. Go to the Web Advisor tab uder the Studet Home page, ad uder Fiacial Iformatio click Accouts Receivable Statemet. Walsh College does ot mail prited statemets or sed otificatios prior to the paymet dates. Studets must view their accout statemets olie via Web Advisor to check their accout balace. Studets who have questios about their accout balace or paymet dates or eed to request a copy of their statemet should cotact the Busiess Office at busiess@walshcollege.edu or call (248) 823-1620. Studet Fiacial Resposibility Studets usig fiacial aid or ay other form of tuitio assistace are resposible to esure that all required paperwork is submitted by the appropriate due date. Submittig a employer voucher does ot release the studet s liability of tuitio ad fees. Studets will be resposible for ay balace the voucher may ot cover or if the employer fails to pay Walsh College. Droppig courses is the resposibility of the studet. Istructors ad advisors do ot register, drop or withdraw studets from courses. Studets are ot automatically dropped for o-paymet or o-attedace. Note: Walsh College does ot mail prited statemets or sed otificatios prior to the paymet dates. Studets must view their accout statemets olie via WebAdvisor to check their accout balace. Policy o No-Sufficiet Fud Checks Checks retured to Walsh College that are ot hoored by the studet s fiacial istitutio will be charged a o-refudable service fee per occurrece. The studet will be otified ad expected to pay the owed amout withi five busiess days to avoid collectio efforts. The check may be re-deposited oly upo request by the studet (if allowed by the studet s fiacial istitutio). I the case of bak error, a writte documet directly from the bak or fiacial istitutio will correct the situatio. After receipt of two o-sufficiet fud checks, a studet may o loger submit checks as a method of paymet. Studets who submit a o-sufficiet check to register for classes (such as paymet of a past due balace) will be dropped from registered courses (five busiess days to submit paymet does ot apply). Refer to the Idebtedess to Walsh College sectio of this catalog. Tuitio Refud Policy See Studet Fiacial Resposibility sectio of the catalog. Studets may drop classes through the fourteeth day of the semester. After the fourteeth day of the semester studets will have to withdraw from courses ad o refud will be give durig the withdrawal period. Studet ca add, drop or withdraw from courses olie usig WebAdvisor or by submittig a add/drop/withdrawal request by mail, Walsh College email, fax, or i perso. Below is a breakdow of the Refud Policies: For courses dropped through the eighth day of the semester, 100 percet of tuitio charges will be credited to the studet s accout. Studets are resposible for adherig to published refud dates whe registerig for courses ad makig the proper paymets by the due dates. Studets should refer to the Registratio Materials/Schedule of Classes each semester or the Curret Studets/Tuitio ad Fees sectio of the College Website. For courses dropped betwee the ith ad fourteeth day of the semester, 50 percet of tuitio charges will be credited to the studet s accout. No tuitio refud will be give for courses dropped after the fourteeth day of the semester (withdrawal period). Iteratioal fees are o-refudable. 74

Studet Services Registratio fee is o-refudable uless all courses are dropped. 100% or 50% of the fee will be refuded based o whe the last course is dropped. See refud dates. All accouts with credit balaces will be issued a refud after the add/drop period. NOTE: Dates pertai to 11 week courses. Dates for courses that meet for less tha 11 weeks may differ. Dates for these courses ca be foud i the Registratio Material/Schedule of Classes ad/or the course syllabus. Tuitio Refud Policy Affectig Fiacial Aid Recipiets See the Fiacial Aid sectio of the catalog. Exceptios to Tuitio Refud Deadlies If a documetable uforesee ad uavoidable circumstace occurs that prevets a studet from attedig his/her courses for the term, exceptios to the tuitio refud deadlies may be grated. To be cosidered for a exceptio to the policy, the studet must drop or withdraw from all course(s) (some circumstaces may require droppig or withdrawig from all courses based o the documetatio submitted with the request). Walsh College does ot automatically drop studets from classes for o-paymet or o-attedace. The last day to withdraw from courses is durig the eighth week of the term (studets should refer to the Registratio Materials/ Schedule of Classes each semester for drop ad withdraw dates). Studets are resposible for tuitio ad fees whe withdrawig beyod the refud period. Studets o the deferred paymet pla must still make paymets i full ad o time. Studets receivig federal fiacial aid should refer to the sectio etitled Tuitio Refud Policy Affectig Fiacial Aid Recipiets i this Catalog. Requests for exceptios to the refud policy must be directed i writig to the chief fiacial officer of the College ad must be accompaied by a siged Tuitio Exceptio Request Form available o the College s Website. Ay origial documetatio supportig the request should be icluded. Oly siged Tuitio Refud Exceptio Request Forms, statemets of request, ad documetatio with origial sigatures will be accepted. Faxed ad emailed copies will ot be accepted. Requests must be postmarked withi four weeks after the start of the subsequet term (refer to the Academic Caledar for dates). Late requests will ot be reviewed. Requests will be reviewed by the Refud Exceptio Committee ad a respose will be set i writig withi 30 days. If the Committee determies that the request meets the criteria for a exceptio (a documetable uforesee ad uavoidable circumstace prevetig a studet from attedig his/her courses), a 100 percet credit of the tuitio charges will be credited to the studet s accout. Registratio fees are o-refudable uless all courses are refuded. Examples of circumstaces that may qualify for a exceptio iclude but are ot limited to: Illess or ijury with siged doctor s ote o origial letterhead idicatig iability to atted course(s); Death of a immediate family member (spouse, parets, sibligs, ad childre) with death certificate or death otice; Ivolutary work trasfer or shift chage with employer documetatio; or, Military deploymet. Tuitio refud requests will ot be grated for: Coflicts betwee persoal ad class schedules; Overtime; Acceptig a ew positio or volutary trasfer withi curret employmet; Loss of employer tuitio reimbursemet; Difficult class schedules or o-attedace; Missig posted refud dates, or; Completed courses. Tuitio Rate Assessmet Tuitio charges are billed at the level of the course i which the studet erolls. All 200 through 400 level courses are billed at udergraduate tuitio rates. All 500 through 600 level courses are billed at graduate tuitio rates. Studets should cosult the Registratio Materials/Schedule of Classes or the Curret Studets/Tuitio ad Fees sectio of the College Website for curret tuitio rates. Idebtedess to Walsh College A studet who is idebted to Walsh College will ot be permitted to register for classes, receive his/her diploma or certificate, ad/or academic trascript. All idebtedess to the College must be paid i full ad all materials ad/or books borrowed from the Library or a faculty member must be retured prior to the studet receivig a diploma or certificate, ad/or academic trascript. A studet with a past due balace will be set to collectios. Tax Iformatio 1098T Forms will be processed for all studets with billable tuitio ad fees durig the caledar year by Jauary 31. Studets ca sig up to receive their 1098-T electroically by sigig up for electroic coset. To sig up for electroic coset or to view a 1098-T olie, log i to the portal, select Fiacial Iformatio o the WebAdvisor tab uder the Studet Home page, ad selectig 1098 Electroic Coset or View My 1098-T Forms. 75

Studet Services Per IRS guidelies, istitutios may use the amouts paid method (box 1) or amouts billed method (box 2). The College s system supports the amouts billed method. Note that the taxpayer may ot be able to claim a credit for the etire amout billed. Walsh College caot provide tax advice or determie if you are eligible for a tax credit. Please cosult your tax advisor or visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov. Tip: Search the IRS site for Form 8863. W-9S The IRS requires Walsh College to collect ad provide your correct idetifyig umber to file certai iformatio returs such as Form 1098-T Tuitio Statemet. For studets, this will be your social security umber (SSN) or, if you are ot eligible to obtai a SSN, your idividual taxpayer idetificatio umber (ITIN). Please ote that if you are a o-residet alie ad do ot have icome that is subject to tax, you are ot required to supply this iformatio to us. If you have ot provided us with your idetifyig umber, please do so by completig form W-9S Request for Studet s Taxpayer Idetificatio Number ad Certificatio. Failure to provide your correct idetifyig umber could result i a pealty from the IRS imposed o each icorrect documet. Career Services The Career Services office assists curret for-credit studets ad degreed-alumi i the pursuit of their career goals by providig career developmet coachig, resume reviews, job search techiques, mock iterviews, topical workshops, cofidece buildig sessios, ad Strog Iterest Ivetory assessmets. Additioally, they provide coectios to may employers by hostig employer Meet & Greets, Employer Presetatios, a aual Itership Coectio ad two career fairs per year. Studets ad alumi ca also participate i O-Campus Recruitig (OCRs), where employers iterview studets o campus for a sigle day. Iformatio about evets ad activities sposored by Career Services, are emailed to studets ad alumi through the Career Services database www.walshcareerlik.com; therefore, it is importat for studets to activate their accouts, ad review their Walsh College emails regularly. The Career Service office is located at the Troy campus; however, appoitmets ca be scheduled at the Troy, Novi, ad Uiversity Ceter campuses. Phoe ad email appoitmets are also available for your coveiece. It is recommeded that studets schedule a appoitmet with a career advisor durig their first semester at Walsh College to become familiar with the services offered ad career evets as well as establish a career actio pla well i advace of graduatio.
