What if I have never skied before? IF YOU HAVEN T BEEN SKIING BEFORE DON T WORRY! YOUNG and old alike pick up skiing very quickly - especially when you are in a group of friends - and you'll be hooked! Your ski instructor will take you quickly but steadily through the lessons and your progress will amaze you. Every ski resort has Many of these Brockhurst and Marlston House skiers first learnt to ski by joining the school ski trip beginners and there are always good beginners' slopes. Near the village there are many 'nursery' slopes on which beginners spend their first day or so before heading for the higher slopes where the snow is better and the runs are longer - and more fun! The Hotel Breakfast in the dining room. Breakfast menu: orange juice, croissants, cereals, cold meats, jams, yoghurt, hot chocolate...followed by a hot lunch and three course dinner. - 2 - The hotel we are using is well-furnished, modern, comfortable and definitely not down-at-heel. We have three full meals each day, breakfast complete with croissants and a wide choice of cereals and cold meats, a hot lunch at the hotel and a full threecourse evening meal, with free soft drinks. For adults, complimentary wine is served at dinner and a cheese course is provided. HOTEL ROOMS. Children do not normally share with adults, even if their own parents come. (We can however allow younger children to do this if parents wish). Everybody has far more fun if dorms (of 2 to 5) are arranged by age. Adult price is based on couples sharing twin rooms. FOR 2017 we are booked into the Hotel Le Prorel a family run hotel. Details on page 4.
What happens when skiing is over for the day? WHEN skiing finishes for the day, everyone changes out of their skiing clothes and there comes the moment for pocket money! Then most people take the opportunity to practise their French in the local shops just outside the hotel by going off in pairs or larger groups and buy drinks and sweets. After skiing or supper there is an organised activity such as swimming in the heated pool, bum boarding, karaoke, a quiz evening or our own talent show. Karaoke is often one of the evening activities; usually there is bum-boarding, a quiz night and a talent show to name but a few. What if my parents don t come? Do you get as good a holiday if your parents don't come? Yes: ALL children get pocket money each day and parents do not give extra to their children; ALL children sleep in small dorms of 2-5. ALL children sit at dining tables according to age, even the ski lessons are either for children or adults, but not mixed. If you ask other pupils you will usually find that it does not make a great deal of difference whether your parents are there or not This will be our eleventh time skiing with the Brockhurst & Marlston House Ski Club and tenth as party leaders. The Brockhurst and Marlston House ski party is, I am sure, quite unique with a special blend of boys and girls on their own and those with parents and families. In running the ski club it is our wish to continue in this spirit and we hope very much that you will join us for a fun filled week in Serre Chevalier next year. Stuart and Bronwyn Raeburn-Ward The holiday is organised by Select School Tours. Party Leaders are Stuart and Bronwyn Raeburn Ward. - 3 -
