3.1. Objectives of the course C1 C2 Has knowledge of the subject of the demography and epidemiology and the scale of the problems associated with disability. Describes and outlines the principles of demographic analysis, can define basic concepts of epidemiological statistics. Has knowledge of the rules for conducting screening in the prevention of disability. Can use the knowledge about health and its hazards in assessing the scale of disability problems in a demographic and epidemiological aspect. Can collect data and adjust the proper way of interpreting as well as presenting them. Can formulate opinions and judgments containing reflections on scientific topics of demography and epidemiology. Lecture The substantive content Course characteristics and ongoing issues, forms of completing the course. Presentation of the required basic and supplementary literature. The scope of demography and demographic analysis methods. Parameters life expectancy, mortality tables. The concept of health and illness and disease s outcomes. Epidemiological statistics - basic concepts. Descriptive and behavioral epidemiology. Risk factors in groups of civilization diseases.
Epidemiology of disability. Screening and their use in medicine. Selected issues of hygiene ( demographic - epidemiological aspect ). B. Social determinants of excess male mortality in Poland. Antiquity. Characteristics of the period of old age. Disease of old age joke? Trying to explain the processes of aging. Basic concepts and scope of Modern Epidemiology Research. Sources of information about population health over the week. Methods for assessing the health of the population. Negative and Positive Health meters. Polish health of the population. Socio - Economic conditions Polish population health. Epidemiological studies ( case - control, cohort, experimental) and their use in medicine. Disability in Poland - sizes, types, causes and consequences for society. International Classification of Disability (ICF). 3.4 EDUCATIONAL METHODS Lecture: The lecture and multimedia presentation. Debate. Seminars: Grup work. Discussion of the presentation.
