Introduction Loch Lomond Shores is beautiful visitor destination housing retail, an Aquarium, Birds of Prey Centre, Adventure Golf, water activities, loch cruises, walks, play-park and more, which is located on the western banks of Loch Lomond. Alternatively, you can plan your journey using www.travelinescotland.com; simply enter our postcode of G83 8QL or our street name Ben Lomond Way and you will be given directions using various methods of public transport. The nearest train station is Balloch, and is a 10 minute comfortable walk on a flat riverside path to Loch Lomond Shores. There is a bus stop at Loch Lomond Shores, ask the driver to tell you when you arrive here. If you are driving to visit us, then put G83 8QL into your navigation system. We are 20 minutes from Glasgow Airport. Car Parking and Arrival There are over 1,000 free car parking spaces on site, with traditional parking spaces alongside parent and child spaces and a stand alone disabled parking area with spaces for both cars and small coaches bringing disabled visitors. This car park is clearly signed as you enter our site. The car park is tarmac and the spaces are clearly delineated. There is adequate lighting. The car park at Loch Lomond Shores has achieved the Park Mark safer parking award. There is also a drop off area located to the side of the disabled parking area to allow drop off and collection for those parking further out in the car parking lot. Main Entrance, Reception and Ticketing Area The foyer entrance area provides toilet facilities, disabled facilities and baby change facilities. The area is step free and level and all provisions are on ground level. The surface is both anti slip carpet and tiles. The lighting levels are good in all areas, and members of staff are on site at all times during 7am.
Attraction (displays, exhibits, rides etc.) All pathways are flat and accessible for prams and wheelchairs. Any businesses located on upper floors have full lift access. Can You Experience, our outdoor activity provider, can offer adapted canoes for disabled user and have pull along trailers for their bikes so that small children can travel. For more information www.canyouexperience.com Public Toilets The main public toilets are located at the entrance to the Retail Crescent. These toilets are home to disabled toilets and baby changing and feeding areas. We do not have lift or hoist equipment within our disabled facilities. Further toilets with disabled access are located within Jenners and the Aquarium building. Appropriate hand rails and accessible toilets and sinks are located within the disabled facilities. Catering There are both ground and first floor catering offers. Those on the 1st floor have full lift access. All food outlets are knowledgeable about the contents of their food and drinks and staff are competent on giving visitors information on ingredients and allergens. Tables and layouts are in line with accessibility guidance. Shops There are a wide range of shops from shoes, clothes, gifts, foods, ice-cream and homewares. All shops are accessible with staff willing to assist and who are conversant on meeting the needs of all visitors.
Grounds and Walks All walkways in the grounds are flat and appropriate for wheelchairs and prams. An area in the play park is covered in bark for safety and therefore is not particularly easy to move on with a wheelchair or pram. There are number of seats around our site, both open backed benches and comfortable wooden full backed benches. Additional Information Our staff teams are all fully aware of the needs of disabled visitors and those with children and prams. We are all keen to ensure that everyone s visit to Loch Lomond Shores is comfortable. We welcome trained assistance dogs in all areas. We provide wheelchairs free of charge on a first come basis, these are located in our main entrance foyer. Mobility equipment is available for use at Loch Lomond Shores via our local Shop Mobility centre, they can be contacted via our Visitor Information / Getting Around page on our website. Future Plans We are undergoing a revamp of our visitor centre during 2015/16 and will ensure that this centre is accessible to all. We are renewing all of our pathways during 2015, and will ensure that access ramps and flat surfaces are retained, and improved where possible.
