2 Birmingham New Station In 2010, we began the huge task of rebuilding Birmingham New Station, and now we re delighted to welcome you into the first half of your new station. April 2013 marked the halfway point of the redevelopment, and we re now turning our attention to transforming the old concourse and the shopping centre above. The project completes in full in 2015, when we ll unveil a world-class transport hub and retail destination fit for the 21st century. This booklet is divided into three sections: general information about the new concourse; an overview map of the station with the new entrances and surrounding roads; and a detailed layout plan of the new concourse. General information Overview of station The station has 3 entrances/exits and the concourse is divided into two core areas one side that is open to all to pass through and the other side that can only be accessed with a ticket via ticket gates, with retail, customer information and the ticket office in between. There are 12 platforms. Each plaform is sub-divided into A and B. Platform 4 also has a further sub-division C. The platforms can be accessed by lift, escalator and stairs except for platform 1 which only has lift and stair access, Two escalators in the central concourse (opposite WH Smith and M&S Simply Food) take you up to The Pallasades and Bullring shopping centres. Help and mobility assistance If you need help, please speak to one of our staff or go to the Customer Reception and Mobility Assistance near the Hill entrance/exit or call the station on British Transport Police are also based inside Customer Reception. RNIB Map for All and hand-held maps An RNIB Map for All, designed for sight and touch, is located just past the left luggage/lost property office near the Hill entrance/exit. Braille hand-held maps are also available from Customer Reception. 2

3 Toilets and baby change Male, female and accessible toilets can be found at the southern Hill end of the concourse. A separate baby change room is also available. Travel information There are two staffed information points one near the ticket gates near Starbucks/M&S Simply Food and one near the Victoria Square entrance/ exit that also provides local travel information. Tickets Tickets can be purchased from the Ticket Office in the centre of the central concourse as well as from ticket machines situated outside the Ticket Office and near the New entrance/exit. Services Seating areas can be found either side of the escalator/stairs to platforms 6 and 7. There is a Virgin First Class lounge near the escalator/stairs to platforms 2 and 3. A selection of food and drink retailers (Camden Food Co., Costa Coffee, Delice de France, M&S Simply Food, Mi Casa Burritos, The Pasty Shop, Starbucks, and Upper Crust) are available along with some shopping outlets (Boots, Funky Pigeon, and WH Smith). Left luggage/lost property office is near the Hill entrance/exit. Cash points can be found along the central concourse opposite the retail outlets. Public telephones are found outside the left luggage/lost property office. A Photobooth is available near the escalator to the Pallasades opposite WH Smith.
