DESCRIPTION Non-eletril temperture vlves mnuftured in orrosion resistnt mterils nd designed to monitor the exhust gs temperture of diesel engines fitted with exhust ooling systems. These vlves re suitle for zone 1 hzrdous re pplitions nd re intended for inorportion into diesel engine oil pressure (or ir pressure) operted shut down ontrol systems. INSTALLATION Fit the vlve into the engine exhust system immeditely downstrem of the exhust ooling system. Ensure tht the vlve s sensor proe is fully exposed to the exhust gs strem. IMPORTANT NOTE: When tightening the vlve into position, or removing the vlve, pply spnner lods only to the stinless steel hexgon setion nd NOT the rss ody. Use suitly rted tue of etween 6 nd 8 mm. ore to onnet the vlve into the oil [or ir] pressure operted engine shut down ontrol system. A suitle flow restritor must e fitted into the pressure feed line to the vlve. For typil oil pressure operted system Chlwyn flow restritor ORZ-060 (or ORZ-061) is reommended. To inrese system sensitivity restritors ORZ-040 or ORZ-041 re ville. For omplex ir operted systems vrile restritor llowing degree of system tuning my e neessry. For engine oil pressure operted systems the vent port of the vlve must e onneted to position on the engine to llow ny vented oil to freely drin k into the engine. It is VERY IMPORTANT tht the vrious omponents LTD in the shut down ontrol system re orretly sequened. The pressure supply must initilly e fed through the flow restritor. The pressure line must then e tken to eh vlve in turn. The reommended method of onnetion is vi T fitting mounted diretly onto the vlve. The pressure feed is then finlly TSZ-100 piped to the engine shut down vlve[s]. All pipe-work in the ontrol system should generlly e kept s short nd diret s possile ut must omply with the sequene outlined ove. A typil iruit eexmple is shown elow. INLET f The vlve is ftory set to trip within + 1 C of the nominl trip temperture. It should e noted however tht vritions in instlltion detil, inluding the trip pressure of the ssoited shut down vlve, my give rise to smll vrition in the tul shut down temperture. One instlled, nd prior to putting the system into servie, hek should e rried out s given under MAINTENANCE - Monthly. Where high degree of ury in the shut down temperture is required, the hek listed under MAINTENANCE - Yerly should lso e ompleted. If there is n uneptle dely in shut down, the sensitivity n e djusted y fitting smller flow restritor into the system. Additionlly it is possile to mke smll djustments to the Chlwyn temperture vlve (see Pge 4). Use srewdriver to djust setting. Wind in to inrese setting. Wind out to redue. IMPORTANT NOTE. Do not djust dimension X outside of rnge X = 12mm to X = 20mm. MAINTENANCE Monthly: Chek for nd retify ny lekge. With the engine running t low to medium speed, rk open the ontrol system pipework t the TSZ vlve suffiiently to vent the ontrol iruit pressure. Ensure this results in rpid utomti shut down of the engine. Where pplile tke the neessry preutions to void spillge of hot engine oil. Yerly: Remove temperture vlve from engine exhust ut leve fully piped into the engine shut down system. Arrnge to het vlve y instlling into dry lok temperture lirtor or use other suitle mens to het the proe. Run engine t low to medium speed whilst grdully inresing the temperture of the vlve proe. Chek tht engine shut down ours t required temperture. IMPORTANT NOTE: Extreme re is required when working on n operting engine. These heks must only e rried out under the supervision of properly qulified nd experiened stff nd ll neessry sfety preutions tken 5
