Department of Children & Families FLORIDA CIVIL COMMITMENT CENTER Arcadia, FL OCI Associates, Inc. provided engineering services for an upgrade project for the Department of Children and Families at the Florida Civil Commitment Facility in Arcadia, Florida with SchenkelShultz Architects. The Sexually Violent Predators (SVP) Treatment Center needed electrical upgrades to the perimeter fencing, signal cabling, cameras, intercom and conduit to the existing facility. Owner: Department of Children & Families SchenkelShultz Renovations and Upgrades Electrical, IT/ AV Systems 2011 The facility has an Administration Building and (4) secure buildings for the inmates. The project objective was for OCI to provide power and raceways for several security gates and cameras. We made provisions to provide power, telecommunications, and fire alarm for a mailroom trailer that was going to be installed. We also provided power for a new well pump and landscape lighting at the entry to the Administration Building. An extensive site visit was needed to determine the necessary routing of all the raceways so that we minimized the amount of work in secure areas. OCI Associates worked closely with Jeff Donovan (Maintenance Supervisor) and Paul Pye (Business Manager) with The GEO Group to gain access to the facility and to finalize the design. We also worked closely with Metroplex Control Systems, Inc. (MCS) to determine the routing of all security camera and gate controller cables. Metroplex was the contractor that was hired by FCCC to install all of the low voltage devices and cables for the project. This facility is a 660-bed secure treatment facility for Sexually Violent Predators that treats individuals that have been detained or civilly committed. The project was completed in 2012. * Not Actual Photo
