3-348-98-3 2/2.15 Measurement of current, votage, active, reactive and apparent power, power factor, active and reactive energy, harmonic distortion and harmonics 2 additiona measuring inputs (optiona) Precision measured vaues with error imits of.25% for U and I Depending upon mode, capabe of communications with Profibus-DP, LONWORKS interface or RS 485 interface with Modbus RTU and other protocos Front pane dimensions: 144 x 144 mm Minima instaation depth of ess than 6 mm Good egibiity thans to the high contrast, 14 mm LD dispay Continuous recording of seected measured vaues for oad profie and statistica purposes (optiona) Interference recording function with high speed recording of events and pre-event history (optiona) ectricay isoated current inputs Two imit vaue contacts which can be assigned as desired to measured vaues Appications The measuring instrument is used for the anaysis of aternating current systems, in particuar where conventiona anaog measuring instruments incuded in distribution systems no onger fufi continuousy growing demands. This is especiay appicabe where harmonic distortion and harmonics are crucia in addition to current, votage and power. As a further range of appications, the meter is aso capabe of eiminating combined use of measuring instruments which are operated simutaneousy aong with conventiona recorders and faut indicators. In combination with current and votage transformers, the instrument performs the most important measurements required in ow and medium-votage systems. Anaog outputs, imit vaues and interfaces are avaiabe for the monitoring and processing of measured vaues. A time curve is simutaneousy recorded for up to 12 measured vaues in a faisafe system if the instrument version with integrated memory is utiized. Important measured vaues can be monitored continuousy over a ong period of time, or recording can be triggered for a specified duration by an event. In the case of event controed recording, it is aso possibe to record the pre-history which ead up to the event at the same speed. This provides the user with a comprehensive overview of the pre-history which has resuted in an error. The instrument thus fufis the function of a faut recorder significanty better than conventiona paper chart recorders. Appicabe Reguations and Standards IC/N 611-1 / VD 411 Part 1 DIN 43864 DIN N 61326 VD 843 Part 2 Function and Operationa Principe Safety requirements for eectrica equipment for measurement, contro and aboratory use Current interface for puse transmission between impuse meters and tariff devices (for puse output) ectrica equipment for measurement, contro and aboratory use MC requirements IC/N 6529/VD 47 Part 1 Protection provided by encosures (IP code) The measuring instrument acquires instantaneous vaues for starconnected votages and currents at three-phase eectrica systems. If no neutra is avaiabe, the instrument automaticay creates a virtua neutra point. The speed at which measured vaues are ogged depends upon the respective ine frequency. ach measured vaue is updated 32 times per period, which aows for the acquirement of measuring signas of up to the 15 th harmonic. After these vaues have been stored to memory, anaysis and cacuation of data such as deta and star-connected currents and votages begin, as we as the determination of parameters for power, power factor, energy, harmonic distortion and harmonics. The vaues are cacuated in accordance with DIN 411 Part 1 and 2. A cacuated vaues are avaiabe to the dispay, the seria interface, the anaog outputs and the imit vaue monitoring system. GMC-I Messtechni GmbH

Data Storage Up to 12 measured vaues can be seected for storage to memory. The measuring instrument acquires these measured vaues once every 3 ms and stores them first to intermediate memory. These vaues are then averaged in accordance with the seected samping rate and are stored to permanent memory as mean vaues. The samping rate is adjustabe from 3 ms to max. 24 hours. Recording is triggered by means of internay seected imit vaues. The duration of the recording can be set within a range of 1 minute to 31 days. Severa events can thus be stored to memory, one after the other. The trigger eve which starts the recording can be set to either %, 25%, 5% or 75% for the duration of any given recording. This provides the user with an overview of the pre-history of the event which triggered recording, incuding time and date. Continuous recording is aso possibe. The memory has a capacity for up to 25, vaues. The maximum possibe duration of a recording depends upon the number of recorded measured vaues (1 to 12), and the samping rate at which they are to be recorded (.3 s to 24 h). The memory modue is a buffered CMOS RAM. Data integrity is assured for at east 8 years. nergy Dispay The instrument is equipped with eight energy meters for the dispay of energy vaues. The foowing energy vaues appear at these dispays upon shipment from the factory: Active energy for phases 1, 2 and 3, as we as for the overa system Reactive energy for phases 1, 2 and 3, as we as for the overa system The meters can be reconfigured to dispay the foowing energy vaues during instrument configuration: Active energy, high tariff, import for the overa system Active energy, ow tariff, import for the overa system Active energy, high tariff, export for the overa system Active energy, ow tariff, export for the overa system Reactive energy, high tariff, import for the overa system Reactive energy, ow tariff, import for the overa system Reactive energy, high tariff, export for the overa system Reactive energy, ow tariff, export for the overa system Switching from high to ow tariff can be accompished either by means of the synchronization input, an externa contact or the data ogger s interna coc (ony possibe if the instrument version with data ogger is utiized). Harmonic Anaysis Harmonic anaysis is performed approximatey once per second using the 32 averaged, samped vaues per signa and mains period. FFT (fast Fourier transformation) provides components up to the 15 th harmonic to this end. These are used to cacuate the RMS vaues of the fundamenta harmonic (HD 1) and the individua higher harmonics (HD 2... 15), as we as tota harmonic distortion (THD). These effective vaues are dispayed for the phase currents, and harmonic distortion is dispayed for the phase votages (RMS vaues with reference to the RMS vaue for the overa signa). Due to the fact that the A2 is not equipped with a specia antiaiasing fiter, distortion in excess of the 17 th order may infuence measurement resuts for the higher harmonics. Seria Interfaces As standard equipment, the measuring instrument is provided with an RS 232 and an RS 485 interface. Both interfaces use the same protoco, which can be seected as desired. The GMC device bus per DIN draft 19244, protoco per N 687 and Modbus RTU are avaiabe. A baud rate or 12, 24, 48, 96 or 19,2 can be seected. The address can be set within a range of to 254, and parity can be set to even, odd, none or space. Severa measured vaues are aways transmitted with one data word, aowing for especiay fast transmission. In the versions with LONWORKS interface the seria interface RS 485 has been dimensioned for the LONWORKS interface. No additiona settings are required for LON. In the versions with Profibus DP the seria interface RS 485 has been dimensioned for the Profibus DP. The seected address is vaid for the RS 232, as we as for the Profibus DP. Addresses greater than or equa to 126 are interpreted as Profibus address 126, and can thus be used to aow for the assignment of an address to the instrument via the Profibus. The seected baud rate ony appies to the RS 232 interface for these instrument versions. The master determines transmission speed for the Profibus. The A2 can be operated at the Profibus DP at transmission speeds of up to 12 mega-baud. LONWORKS Interface The power meters can be aternativey equipped with a LON interface. In this case, the LONWORKS interface repaces the RS 485. The RS 232 interface is sti used for configuring parameters and for reading out the contents of the data memory. The optiona data ogger can be used with these instrument versions as we, in which case the read-out of recorded data is accompished via the RS 232 interface. Profibus DP A measurement data, except for vaues stored to the data ogger, can be read out via the bus in. Transmission speeds of up to 12 mega-baud are possibe. The standard Profibus 9-pin pug is used to connect these measuring instruments to the Profibus DP. Programming The instrument can be programmed either with the eys at the front pane or via seria interface. A seected vaues remain in memory, even if mains faiure shoud occur. A programmed parameters, except for the imit vaues, can be protected against inadvertent change with a switch (LOCK) at the instrument s rear pane. This assures that the instrument configuration is not changed during imit vaue seection. Aternativey, the LOCK switch can be programmed to protect a parameters, incuding the imit vaues, against unauthorized modification. The foowing vaues can be set during programming: Type of ectrica System 4-wire unbaanced oad or 3-wire unbaanced oad or 3-wire baanced oad The energy meters can be configured to dispay active and reactive energy for phases L1, L2 and L3, as we as for the overa system, or active and reactive energy for the overa system subdivided into energy import and export, and high and ow tariff. Read-out of measured vaues from the power meter s data ogger Continuous recording of measured vaues over a given period of time Dispay of measured vaues as a function of time in ine recorder format, in tabuar form, digitay as individua vaues or anaog as bar graphs Freey seectabe time intervas Identification of curves for the recognition of individua measured vaue sequences Simpe, cear parameters configuration for the A2 Parameters configurations for frequenty recurring setups can be saved to memory Measured vaues can be exported to other Windows programs Mathematica functions A Dimensions in mm Pane Cutout 138 + 1 x 138 + 1 Software Description Data Acquisition and Dispay MTRAwin 1/A2 provides for an unambiguous dispay of the contents of the data memory from the A2. Aternativey, measured vaues can be continuousy queried from the measuring instrument by the software, and stored to a data fie. Standard quipment Power meters without data memory (without optiona data ogger): Measuring instruments without data ogger are shipped with operating instructions in German and ngish. Power meters with data memory (with optiona data ogger): In addition to the measuring instrument and operating instructions in German and ngish, power meters with data ogger aso incude MTRAwin 1/A2 software for downoad from our homepage and an adapter with a subminiature pug (for connection to a PC via extension cabe). MTRAwin 1/A2 summarizes vaues from the data ogger or onine recorded vaues in tabuar form, and documents minimum and maximum vaues with date and time as we. A measured vaues can be painy represented as a function of time with a y-t graph. The time scae can be expanded or contracted to aow for optima representation. The cursor can be paced at the corresponding position within the time scae for precision readings. Measured vaues can aso be dispayed digitay. Up to four measured vaues can be dispayed at the monitor simutaneousy in digita form. Instrument Configuration with MTRAwin 1/A2 MTRAwin 1/A2 painy dispays a of the functions and possibe settings incuded in the power meter in various windows. The desired parameter vaues are entered to the corresponding fieds and are subsequenty upoaded to the power meter. 8 GMC-I Messtechni GmbH
