Passport installation Windows 8 + Firefox OS Version Windows 8 System Type 32-bit and 64-bit Browser name & version Firefox 23 Before you begin Check you have Anti Virus software installed on your computer eg McAfee, Norton 360, Microsoft Security Essentials. Remove McAfee Site Advisor software for Internet Explorer if you have it installed as it will stop Passport from working. Step 1 - Check if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8 1. On the Windows Start screen, click on Desktop 2. Drag the mouse to the bottom right of the screen and bring the toolbar in from the right, click on Settings Version 2 02/01/14 Page 1
3. Click Control Panel 4. The All Control Panel Items window will open, click System 5. In the System section look for System type and make a note as to whether it says 32-bit or 64-bit Version 2 02/01/14 Page 2
Step 2 - Check if you are an Administrator on the computer 1. Right-click on the Windows Start screen, click All apps in the bottom right of the screen 2. Click Control Panel 3. The All Control Panel Items window will open, click User Accounts 4. The User Accounts window will open, check the blue box on the right for Administrator, if you see this you can go to the next step - if you see the word Standard, click Change your account type and select Administrator, log off and log back in again so the change comes into effect. Step 3 - Remove any existing Passport software 1. Right-click on the Windows Start screen and then click All apps in the bottom right of the screen 2. Click Control Panel then select Programs and Features 3. You now need to remove all instances of Java, Juniper and Citrix, click on the programs in the list (one at a time) then click on Uninstall or Uninstall/Change (see example below) 4. If asked Are you sure?, click Yes 5. Use the cross (X) in the top right corner to close the window. Version 2 02/01/14 Page 4
Step 4 - Run the Registery Cleaner 1. Open Firefox, copy and paste http://hants.gov.uk/passport-tools/regcleaner.exe into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard 2. An Opening regcleaner.exe window will open, click on Save File 3. Click on the arrow in the top right of the screen then click on regcleaner.exe 4. Click Yes to the user account control prompt and Yes again to clean the Citrix client from your PC 5. Click Yes to remove the Citrix folder from Program Files on your machine Version 2 02/01/14 Page 5
6. Click OK to exit the Citrix Cleaner 7. Close all programs and restart your machine to make changes active. If you are unable to remove the Citrix folder from Program files using the registery cleaner, this can be done instead from the C drive. 1. Right-click on the Windows Start screen, and select All Apps in the bottom right corner of the screen 2. Click on Computer 3. The Computer window will open, double click on Local Disk (C:) Version 2 02/01/14 Page 6
4. Click on Program Files, right-click on the Citrix folder and then click Delete 5. Click Yes to confirm deletion. If this doesn t work, you can download the Citrix Receiver Clean-Up Utility from http://support.citrix.com/article/ctx137494 (click on Download, right-click on the file, then click Run as Administrator). Step 5 Update settings for Firefox NB. Firefox will block older versions of Java before you update your Firefox settings you will need to remove Java if you already have it installed, and re-install it after you have finished updating Firefox settings. 1. Open Firefox, click on the menu in the top left corner, then click on Options followed by Options Version 2 02/01/14 Page 7
2. The Options window will open, click on the Content tab and then in the Block pop-up windows section click the Exceptions button 3. The Allowed Sites Pop-ups window will open, in the Address of website field type *.hants.gov.uk, then click the Allow button 4. The website address will move into the white box below, next type passport.hants.gov.uk in the Address of website field and click the Allow button 5. You should now have two addresses listed under the Site heading with a status of Allow, click the Close button Version 2 02/01/14 Page 8
6. You will now be returned to the Options window, click on the Security tab, then click the Exceptions button next to Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 7. The Allowed Sites Add-ons Installation window will open, in the Address of website field type *.hants.gov.uk then click the Allow button, do the same with passport.hants.gov.uk both addresses will move into the white box below, you can now click Close 8. Step 6 Download and install Java 1. Open Firefox, copy and paste http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard, click Free Java Download 2. Click Agree and Start Free Download 3. The Opening jxpiinstall.exe window will open, click on Save File 4. Click on the arrow in the top right corner then click on jxpiinstall.exe Version 2 02/01/14 Page 10
5. A warning message will be displayed, Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer, click Yes 6. The Java Setup Welcome window will open, click Install 7. If you are asked if you want to install any software (such as the Ask toolbar), un-tick the box and click Next Version 2 02/01/14 Page 11
8. When Java has finished installing, you will see a You have successfully installed Java message, click Close 9. You will be taken to a Verify Java page, close the page. Step 7 - Disable Java Deployment Toolkit in Firefox 1. Open Firefox, click on the menu in the top left corner, then click Add-ons 2. Click Plugins, then click on the drop down arrow next to Java Deployment Toolkit and select Never Activate, close the tab. Version 2 02/01/14 Page 12
Step 8 - Download and install Citrix Receiver for Windows 1. Open Firefox, copy and paste http://receiver.citrix.com/ into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard, click Download Receiver for Windows 2. Read and tick I agree to the terms of the Citrix License Agreement, then click Continue 3. The Opening CitrixReceiverWeb.exe window will open, click Save File 4. Click the arrow at the top right corner of the screen then click CitrixReceiverWeb.exe Version 2 02/01/14 Page 13
5. A Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer message will be displayed, click Yes 6. A Citrix Receiver window will open, click Install 7. Citrix Receiver will install, once it is completed you will see the Citrix Receiver icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. Step 9 - Log into Passport (installs Juniper software) 1. Open Firefox, copy and paste https://passport.hants.gov.uk into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard 2. Type in your Hantsnet username, Hantsnet password, Passport PIN and token number and click Sign In NB. If this is the first time you have logged into Passport, see the information on Learn.IT (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/learnit.htm go to Passport > Setting up Passport) 3. Wait for the security warning box to appear and tick I accept the risk and want to run this application, then click Show options and also tick Do not show this again for apps from the publisher and location above, click the Run button 4. Click Yes to install Host Checker if prompted 5. Click on the Hantsnet Desktop icon and agree to install Juniper Citrix Services Client 6. Once your Hantsnet desktop is loaded you may be prompted by a Citrix Receiver Security warning box.
