Physician Basic gives you access to applications without patient data. Applications under Physician Clinical do have access to patient data; to protect this data you must logon with an RSA Secure ID (Key fob) as well as your NMH username and password. Northwestern Memorial Hospital has begun limited support for access to clinical and non-clinical data through Physician Remote Access for computers running Mac OS X. Minimum Requirements for Physician Remote Access - Basic To access NMH resources remotely using Physician Remote Access, your computer must have: Broadband (DSL, ISDN, Cable, T-1) internet (dial-up connections are not supported) Mac OS X operating system Safari or Firefox browser Note: The Safari browser may not show all applications correctly. Minimum Requirements for Physician Remote Access - Clinical All the requirements for Basic and: Safari browser required Mac OS X operating system 10.4 or later For access to clinical applications, RSA SecureID Token (Key fob) Administrator access to the Mac Citrix ICA Client for Mac Questions? 2 Launching Physician Basic Remote Access If you are away from the office, you can access Physician Remote Access resources by entering the following URL in your browser address field: 1. At the logon prompt, type your NMH username and password. 2. From the Access drop-down field, select Physician Basic. Click SIGN IN or press the ENTER key on your keyboard. Using Basic Access If you selected Physician Basic and logged in correctly, the Basic Page launches. From this page, you can access , paging, schedules and medical reference. Questions? 3 Setting up a Mac for Physician Clinical Access Before you can use clinical applications on a Mac, you need to set up your device to launch Citrix applications. Download Mac Citrix Client 1. To download the Mac Citrix Client, click this link Select the appropriate client for your Mac operating system and device. 3. Click the DOWNLOAD button to begin the install. 4. When prompted, click OPEN. 5. Follow the prompts to complete the install. Enable Safari to Auto-launch Citrix files from NMH My Applications 1. After your Citrix client has been successfully installed, open your Safari browser. 2. In the menu bar, select Preferences, then General. 3. 4 Setting up a Mac for Physician Clinical Access (continued) Enable pop-ups in Safari The plug-in used to launch Citrix applications from the My Applications page requires the use of pop-ups in the Safari browser. This can either be enabled permanently or turned on and off through the browser menu. To always allow pop-ups: 1. In the menu bar, select Preferences, then General. 2. On the Security tab, uncheck Block pop-up windows. To temporarily allow or block pop-ups: 1. In the menu bar, select Safari. Questions? Contact the CRU Service Desk at of 12

5 Setting up a Mac for Physician Clinical Access (continued) 2. Select Block pop-up windows to toggle this setting off. 3. To toggle the setting back on, select Safari and Block Pop-Up Windows again. Logging On with Physician Clinical Access 1. Launch the Physician Remote Access logon page. 2. From the Access drop down field, select Physician Clinical. 3. Type your NMH username and password. 4. 6 Logging On with Physician Clinical Access (continued) Existing Users 1. When prompted, enter your RSA PIN and the 6-digit code displayed on the RSA Secure ID (Key fob). After typing in your PIN and the 6-digit code, click SIGN IN or press enter. First Time Users 1. If this is the first time you are logging in, only type the 6-digit code. You will be prompted to set up a new pin. 2. Enter a PIN number between 4 8 numeric digits long. 3. Click the SAVE PIN button. Questions? Contact the CRU Service Desk at of 12

When you return to the RSA Pin + Code field, wait for the six-digit code on your RSA Secure ID (Key fob) to refresh before continuing. 5. A second logon screen launches, enter your RSA Pin and six-digit code on your RSA Secure ID (Key fob). Logging On and Installing Components After a successful logon, several components will load. 1. You will receive a VeriSign message when the Host Checker component loads. Click TRUST. 2. Host checker loads. If your MAC does not pass the security check, a message launches explaining which variable on your system failed (operating system, virus scanner, etc.). a. If your computer or software does not meet the minimum requirements you will need to upgrade them to use Physician Remote Access. b. You can still use the Physician Basic page. Questions? 8 Logging On with Physician Clinical Access Logging On and Installing Components (continued) 3. Wait while the Java Secure Application Manager component (JSAM) loads. 4. The JSAM component requires administrator access to allow Citrix applications from My Applications to launch properly. When prompted, enter your Mac administrator name and password. 5. 9 Logging On with Physician Clinical Access (continued) Accessing Clinical Applications 1. Your My Application page launches. Note: You are already logged in. (Disregard the Please Log in message in the Welcome section). 2. Click on any icon to launch that application. 3. If the application uses Citrix, an additional blank Safari window opens, and then a launch.ica file downloads. Questions? Contact the CRU Service Desk at of 12

10 Logging On with Physician Clinical Access Accessing Clinical Applications (continued) 4. The Citrix application starts up and appears in your Dock. Note: If you are launching applications that use a Citrix Client (PowerChart, Clinical Connect, Epic, etc.), you can have a maximum of five Citrix sessions open. Closing the Citrix Application 1. Close the Citrix application when you are finished. 2. From the Citrix ICA Client menu, select Quit Citrix ICA client. 3. When prompted to confirm, click YES. Questions? To reach additional non-clinical content available through Physician Remote access, click the House icon in the Navigation bar of your Safari browser page. 2. The bookmarks page launches. 3. 12 Logging Out 1. When you are ready to logout of Physician Remote Access, close any open Citrix application windows. Then click the Door icon in the Navigation bar of your Safari browser page. OR 2.
