Passport Installation Windows XP + Internet Explorer 8 OS Version Windows XP System Type 32bit or 64bit Browser & version Internet Explorer 8 Before you begin.. Make sure you have Anti Virus software installed on your computer (eg McAfee, Norton 360, Microsoft Security Essentials). Remove McAfee Site Advisor software for Internet Explorer if you have it installed, as it will stop Passport from working. Step 1 - Check if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows XP 1. Click Start, right- click My Computer then click Properties 2. Go to the General tab and look at the System section: - if Windows XP Professional Version <Year> appears, it s a 32-bit version system - if Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> appears, it s a 64-bit system In the example below it s a 32-bit version. Make a note of this and close the window using the cross (X) in the top right corner. Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 1
Step 2 - Check if you are an Administrator on the computer 1. Click Start then on Control Panel 2. Click on User Accounts 3. Check for your user account name, if Computer Administrator is displayed under your account name (see screenshot below), you can move onto step 3 of the installation process If your account name says Limited Account you will need to ask the administrator of the Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 2
computer to login and change your access to an administrator (they will need to click on the user account, select Change the account type, click Computer administrator to select then click Change account type). Step 3 - Create a shortcut for Internet Explorer NB. Do not user Internet Explorer 64-bit, it will not work with Passport. 1. Click on Start then All Programs 2. Find and right-click on Internet Explorer, then click Send To followed by Desktop (create shortcut) 3. An Internet Explorer shortcut icon will be created on your desktop, right-click on the icon and select Rename from the menu 4. Type in a name of 32bit Internet Explorer for Passport for the icon. You must use the Internet Explorer shortcut every time you access Passport. Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 3
Step 4 - Remove any existing Passport software 1. Close any internet browser windows that you have open before starting 2. Click Start then Control Panel 3. Double click on Add or Remove Programs 4. You now need to remove all versions of Java, Juniper and Citrix - simply select the program you want to remove by clicking on it, click Remove then Yes to confirm Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 4
5. When you have removed all versions of Java, Juniper and Citrix, click the cross (X) in the top right corner. NB. If you leave any internet browser windows open while removing these programs, you may see a message asking you to quit other applications before continuing the installation (even though you are removing a program). Either close the browser and then click Retry, or click Ignore then select Close Browsers and Continue. Step 5 - Run the Citrix Clean to clean the registery 1. Open Internet Explorer, copy and paste http://hants.gov.uk/passporttools/regcleaner.exe into the address bar, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard 2. Click Run then Run again 3. Click Yes 4. A message will be displayed confirming the Citrix Registery has been cleaned successfully, click OK 5. Close all programs and restart your machine. If Registery Cleaner is unable to remove the Citrix folder from Program files, you can do this from the C drive. 1. Right-click on Start then click on Explore 2. Open the Program Files folder 3. Right-click on Citrix folder and click Delete 4. Click Yes to delete. Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 5
Also check under the Common Files folder for a Citrix folder and if found, right-click on the Citrix folder and then click Delete. If this doesn t work, you can download Citrix Receiver Clean-Up Utility from http://support.citrix.com/article/ctx137494 - click the Download button and save it on your computer by right-clicking on the file, then on Run as Administrator. Step 6 Update Internet Explorer settings 1. Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools then Internet Options 2. The Internet Options window will open, go to the General tab then in the Browsing history section click Delete Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 6
3. Tick Temporary Internet Files then click Delete 4. The Temporary Internet Files will be deleted and you will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Security tab, click Trusted sites to select, then click the Sites button 5. In the Add this site to the zone field copy and paste https://passport.hants.gov.uk, then click Add Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 7
6. The website address will move to the Websites box below, click Close 7. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Security tab, select Internet, then click Custom level 8. The Security Settings Internet Zone window will open, scroll down the list to find: - ActiveX Controls & Plugins > Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls and Run ActiveX controls & plug-ins - set both to Enable - Downloads > Automatic prompting for file downloads (not present in some versions) or File Downloads - set to Enable 9. When you have finished updating all these areas click OK then Yes to confirm changes 10. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Privacy tab and under Pop-up Blocker click on Settings Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 8
11. The Pop-up Blocker Settings window will open, in the Address of website to allow field, copy and paste *.hants.gov.uk, then click Add 12. The *.hants.gov.uk address will move to the Allowed sites field, click Close 13. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Advanced tab, scroll down to the Security section and remove the tick against Do not save encrypted pages to disk, then click Apply and finally OK. Step 7 - Download and install Java 1. Open Internet Explorer, copy and paste http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp into the address bar, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard 2. Click on Free Java Download 3. Click Agree and Start Free Download 4. A File Download Security Warning will be displayed, click Run 5. Java will start downloading, a further security warning will be displayed, click Run again 6. A Java Setup Welcome window will open, click Install Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 10
7. If you are asked if you want to install any additional software (such as the Ask toolbar), un-tick the boxes then click Next 8. Once the installation is complete a Java Setup Complete window will open, click Close 9. You will be taken to a Verify Java Version webpage, click on the Verify Java version button 10. A message will be displayed asking Do you want to run this application?, click Run 11. A message will be displayed confirming Java has been installed successfully. Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 11
Step 8 - Download and install Citrix Receiver for Windows 1. Open Internet Explorer, copy and paste http://www.citrix.com/downloads/citrixreceiver/receiver-easy-install.html into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard, then click Detect my device and install Receiver 2. A security warning will be displayed, click Run 3. Citrix will start downloading and a progress bar will be displayed, a further security warning will be displayed, click Run 4. A Welcome to Citrix Receiver Setup window will be displayed, click Install 5. When Citrix Receiver installation is complete you will see a Citrix Receiver icon in the bottom right corner of the taskbar. Version 2 06/01/2014 Page 12
Step 9 - Log into Passport (installs Juniper software) 1. Go to Internet Explorer, copy and paste this URL https://passport.hants.gov.uk into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard 2. Type in your Hantsnet username, Hantsnet password, Passport PIN and token number and click Sign In NB. If this is the first time you have logged into Passport, see the information on Learn.IT (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/learnit.htm go to Passport > Setting up Passport) 3. A security warning will be displayed, clicked Install 4. A Host Checker window will open, this should close once installation is complete 5. Click on the Hantsnet Desktop icon 6. Once your Hantsnet desktop is loaded you may be prompted by a Citrix Receiver Security warning box.
