1 Checking Browser Settings, and Basic System Requirements for QuestionPoint This document covers basic IE settings and system requirements necessary for QuestionPoint. These settings and requirements apply to BOTH LIBRARIAN AND PATRON computers. Use this guide to: Check that your settings are correct, if you encounter problems using the software Confirm that your computer meets the basic system requirements Check Your Firefox Settings QP has not provided any official documentation for Firefox, so the following is based on our experience only. Turn Off Popup Blocker(s), Turn on Java and Allow Cookies 1. In the Tools menu, choose Options. 2. Under Content, remove the check in the box for Block pop-up windows. (You may have other pop-up blockers running on your computer, such as those included with the Google and Yahoo toolbars. Please disable those as well. Look at the toolbar to find the popups button) 3. Under Content, Load images automatically, Enable Javascript and Enable Java should all be checked. 4. Under Privacy, check Accept cookies from sites. Accept third party cookies does not have to be checked. 5. Click OK to save changes.
2 Check Your IE Settings QP has an online guide that includes screen shots of some of the following steps: Instructions for Internet Explorer 6 For Internet Explorer 7 instructions, see page 3 If you are unable to find or access the following settings, you may need to login as an Administrator. Adjust Basic Internet Settings 2. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Settings (under Temporary Internet Files ). 3. Make sure that Check for newer versions of cached pages on every visit to the page is selected. 4. Ensure Amount of disk space to use is set to 1 MB. [Higher settings are fine. However, if you notice slow performance, try reducing this back down to 1 MB.] 5. Click OK to return to the Internet Options dialog. 6. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog. Adjust Security Settings 1. In the Internet Options dialog, click on the Security tab. 2. Under Select a Web Content Zone to specify its security settings, click the globe icon marked Internet 3.
