QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Below are the lists of both Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) and non NRT Training requirements. The training qualification requirements differ, depending on which of the above type of course trainers are delivering / assessing. For NRT Training: As an RTO, HIA is committed to maintaining the standards of professionalism set out by the National Skills Standards Council (NSSC) and complying with the legislative requirements as listed in the Standards for Continuing Registration, issued by the National VET Regulator, Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). NATIONALLY RECOGNISED TRAINING (NRT) All trainers and assessors (including those assessing RPL) in the programs outlined below must be registered as HIA Trainers/Assessors on the Approved Trainer/Assessor Register, and must have been appointed in line with the Trainer/Assessor Recruitment Procedure. All NRT Trainers and Assessors must hold the current training and assessment qualification (listed in Point 1 below) and be able to demonstrate current vocational competence (listed in Point 2 below) POINT 1 Training & Assessment Qualification Requirement: TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) POINT 2 Requirement: Vocational Qualifications, licensing requirements and vocational currency All trainers and assessors must hold the relevant vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered or assessed [Reference: SNR 15.4 b)] course (or previous equivalent units with demonstrated ongoing professional development). Building & Construction Training Package CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) Trainer / Assessor Criteria below are the requirements for Trainers and Assessors to be accredited to train/ assess each qualification. The points listed below are all required. CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) or equivalent. If certificate is > 2 years old, must be able to show on-going professional development and vocational currency. Be a currently licensed Commercial Builder (or equivalent) within their state or territory of residence Project experience in Residential & Commercial Building within last 2 years project managing the construction of medium-rise residential buildings Examples of appropriate employment history can include: the principal or senior manager of a building practice working in the commercial construction sector and/or which completes a significant number of residential or commercial projects each year, including a number of concurrent projects project manager, contracts manager or other senior manager for a building practice working in the commercial construction sector and/or which completes a significant number of residential or commercial projects each year, including a number of concurrent projects CPC40110 Certificate IV Construction (Building) CPC40110 Certificate IV Construction (Building) or equivalent (if pre BCG03 qualification, must be able to show ongoing professional development and be undertaking RPL to this qualification) Be a currently licensed Low-Rise Residential Builder (or equivalent) within their state or territory of residence Project experience in Residential Building within last 2 years project managing the TA Detailed v2.1 Housing Industry Association Ltd Page 1 of 7

Business Training Package BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety Trainer / Assessor Criteria below are the requirements for Trainers and Assessors to be accredited to train/ assess each qualification. BSB41412 Certificate IV in Work, Health & Safety Currently employed and qualified Site Safety Supervisor (as per State/territory legislation) OR Worked as either a Health & Safety Representative, an OHS Officer or held a Supervisor positions with a major workload in OHS for a minimum of 2 years within the last 4 years BSB30112 Certificate III in Business BSB40407 Certificate IV in Small Business Management BSB30112 Certificate III in Business Worked in a generalist administrative position within a business for a minimum of 2 years within the last 4 years BSB40407 Certificate IV in Small Business Management Held a management position within a small business for a minimum of 2 years within the last 4 years If a Trainer / Assessor Applicant falls outside of this scope, but appears to have appropriate qualifications, experience, and currency, details should be forwarded to the National training team for evaluation. NON NATIONALLY RECOGNISED TRAINING (NON NRT) / PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS All trainers delivering non-nationally recognised training (non-nrt) / professional development workshops must be registered as HIA Trainers on the Approved Trainer/Assessor Register, and must have been appointed in line with the Trainer Recruitment Procedure. 1. Training & Assessment Qualification Either: TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) from 30 June 2012. If you wish to be considered for the equivalence to the TAE40110 please complete and submit the form TAE40110 Self-Assessment instrument [Doc: HR R53] OR Extensive Training Experience You must be able to demonstrate at least 2 years experience in training small groups In your application, list o any other Qualifications or Statements of Attainment in training or presenting that you may have. For example: Train the Trainer o your training experience that is where you have trained, when you have trained and what you have trained and to whom. 2. Pre-Start Consultants Trainers must have worked as a pre-start consultant previously and have a thorough understanding of the whole construction process, particularly the pre-construction process. Smart Wired Housing Comprehensive understanding of new home technology. This course is conducted in WA in partnership with a company called Avarnti who have been working with new home technology since 2002. Supervising Trades Minimum of Cert III in Building, Construction and Trade Qualified trades people experienced in supervising trades people on a construction site within the last 2 years. This course is divided into 10 sections and trades. Each trainer needs to have experience within the trade as well as experience in supervising. If a Trainer / Assessor Applicant falls outside of this scope, but appears to have appropriate qualifications, experience, and currency, details should be forwarded to the National training team for evaluation.
