OCTOBER, 2010 PANNING AND TRIMS GENERAL INFORMATION 1 EXTERIOR PANNING Panning is primarily used to cover the perimeters of existing building openings prior to the installation of replacement windows. The use of panning will often leave much of the existing building finishes undisturbed. Panning may also be used in new construction, particularly to achieve an historical look. Panning may be used with any fixed or operable Kawneer Sealair Window Series. Panning is not recommended for use with storefront or curtain wall systems. Standard panning profiles are available to accommodate most building conditions. Historic or custom panning profiles may supplied based on project specific requirements. Please contact your Kawneer representative for detail assistance and associated costs. Panning is typically supplied factory fabricated to rough opening sizes. Extended panning legs are field trimmed to fit building openings. Exterior panning must be securely attached to the building conditions prior to the window installation. Exterior panning legs are completely sealed to the building conditions on all perimeters. Exterior panning is weather-stripped and sealed prior to installation of the windows. Stainless steel retention clips are pre-attached to the exterior panning and hold the window in place until final anchoring can be completed. Retention clips are not intended to permanently secure windows in place. INTERIOR SNAP TRIM A combination of exterior panning and interior snap trim is normally required to completely cover existing building conditions and finish the interior face of the window. Standard interior snap trim profiles are available to accommodate most building conditions. Historic or custom snap trim profiles may be supplied based upon project specific requirements. Please contact your Kawneer representative for detail assistance and associated costs. Interior snap trim is typically supplied in standard lengths and field cut to opening dimensions. Interior snap trim is attached to the window face and building condition with 3 long clips. Interior snap trim may be used to securely anchor windows into building openings. Windows are securely anchored to the building condition with anchors installed through the window frame, strap anchors or interior snap trim.
