(ATI) was contracted by Atrium Companies, Inc. to perform testing per Protocol AAMA , on four Series 50/305 HS Vinyl horizontal sliders. The samples tested met the performance requirements set forth in the protocols for a ± 50 psf Design rating. Test specimen description and results are reported herein. The sample was provided by the client. Reference must be made to Report No , dated 5/25/07 for complete AAMA gateway description and data. Test Procedure: The test specimens were evaluated in accordance with the following: AAMA , Voluntary Specifications for Hurricane Impact and Cycle Testing of Fenestration Products. The outside layer is composed of one piece of 1/8" thick annealed glass, and the inner layer is laminated glass. The laminated glass consists of PVB laminate with one piece of 1/8" annealed glass on each side. A 3/8 aluminum-reinforced butyl spacer system was used. Units #1, #2, and #3 were glazed from the exterior, back bedded against white Sika-Flex-552 at the interior with a vinyl snap-in glazing bead at the exterior. Unit #4 was glazed from the exterior, back bedded against black Tremco S-700 sealant at the interior with a vinyl snap-in glazing bead at the exterior. The reinforcement in the sash member was secured with (2) #6 x 1/2" truss head sheet metal screws located 6" from each corner through the glazing channel. Screen Construction: The screen was constructed of roll-formed aluminum with key corner construction. The jamb stile utilized two plastic pull tabs and the meeting stile utilized two metal leaf springs. The fiberglass mesh screen was secured by a rigid vinyl spline. Installation: Units #1, #3, and #4 were new construction frames, installed into 2x4 SPF test buck. Each unit was sealed behind the nail fin, and secured using one #8 x 3/4" sheet metal screw located 3" from the corners and 8" o.c. thereafter. A #10 x 1-3/4" phillips pan head screw was utilized located 3" o.c. from each side of the fixed interlock through the sash channel of the head and sill. Unit #2 utilized a finless replacement frame and was sealed into a 2x4 SPF test buck and secured using #10 x 1-3/4" pan head screws as follows: one (1) screw through the jambs 6" from the head and sill corners; two (2) screws 3" above and below the midpoint of the jambs; one (1) screw through the head 6 from the corners; one (1) screw through the head 4" on either side of the midpoint; and one screw through the sill 4 on either side of the midpoint.
