Winter is quickly flying by with so many events happening in our school! * In honor of the Super bowl on the 7th, come to the school lobby and check out Heston s Super Bowl Fun display! * Our first ever Bingo Night is on the 19th. * Our Mixed Bag Fundraiser begins on the 22nd. Magic Show wtih Justin Mazz Thank you to all of you who came out to the Magic Show with Justin Mazz. We had a great turnout and it was a fantastic show! The kids were giggling with excitement and dazzled by Justin's magic tricks all night long. We had over 300 attendees and raised over $1000. Special thanks go out to Stephanie Mulvihill who chaired the event! Thanks to all of the parents who volunteered at the check-in table and also with food and beverage sales incluing Lisa Walden, Emily Grochowski, Lori Roslonek & Elizabeth Ragavanis. Congratulations to Interim Principal Sutman! Congratulations to Interim Principal Heston Sutman who was appointed to the role of Principal for the next school year (effective July 2016). We look forward to our continued partnership! Seeking New Chairperson(s) We are seeking a new Chairperson or Chairpersons for the Arts & Cultural Events Committee for next school year. Bingo Night - February 19, 2016 (6-7:30pm) Bring your friends and family for a night of good old-fashioned bingo fun! We will have snacks and beverages available for purchase. There will be prizes for game winners and lots of F-U-N! Admission is $1 per person. The first game will start promptly at 6:15pm in the school cafeteria/gymnasium. Game cards will be sold at the door. Please RSVP in advance by clicking on this RSVP form. Please register your party and make sure to include the number of people (adults and children) in your party to allow for room setup. Seating for those arriving at the door will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Volunteers We could use your help in the following areas: Game Night Volunteers: If you can volunteer your time during the event, we would appreciate your help! Help is needed for ticket sales, number callers and card checkers! Please contact us at kegoodwinptaactivities@gmail.com and indicate if you have an assignment preference. Important note: Bingo game night volunteers must be PTA members. Bake Sale: If you can provide a baked good for the event, we would appreciate your help! We are looking for goodies to be pre-packaged in baggies to sell for $1 each. Please contact us at kegoodwinptaactivities@gmail.com. Baked good items can be dropped off with Laura in the front office the day of the event. Book Donations for Goodwin's Celebration of Reading: Donations of gently used books will be gratefully accepted in advance of our Celebration of Reading event. Note: In the event of inclement weather, the bingo event will be held the following week (Friday, February 26, 2016, 6-7:30pm)

Summer Camp Forum - Tuesday, March 1 (6-8pm) It's hard to believe it is time to start thinking about summer camps! Please join us for Goodwin's Summer Camp Forum from 6-8pm in the Goodwin School Gymnasium. Representatives from area summer camps will be available to answer your questions and provide materials for you to review as you begin making your summer plans. This forum is open to the community. Bring a friend! If you are aware of any organization that offers summer camp programs for elementary school students and would like to extend an invite for them to participate in the forum, please contact Jill Billiau at 860-391-5601 or email (jill@billiau.com). Goodwin's Celebration of Reading - March 2, 2016 Are you ready for Spring? (Or at least some early spring cleaning?) We need your support! Donations of gently used books will be gratefully accepted in advance of our Celebration of Reading event. Our goal is to ensure that each student will be able to take home a "new-to-them" book. Collection bins will be available in the school lobby beginning February 18th and finish February 23rd. Dust off those shelves and find a well loved book or 2 that could use a new owner! Goodwin's Celebration of Reading will take place on Read Across America Day. Activities on this day will include: - General assembly with author Sarah Albee. Check out her website here! - Guest readers in each classroom - Reading-themed displays in the School Lobby - Reading and writing activities in individual classrooms as determined by teachers - Book swap where each child will receive at least one new-to-them book to keep - Third grade field trip to Acton Library for a tour/orientation by Acton Library staff

Science Day - April 8, 2016 Science Day brings together parents and students for a fun day of engaging science experiments. We are looking for volunteers who can setup on one evening (TBD) and the entire school day on April 8. We provide: Experiments, supplies, and training Lunch on the 8th FUN the entire day while you teach a science experiment to kids the same age as your child Science Day is sponsored by Pfizer. The deadline for the spring submission is Friday, February 26! Please fill up Topper Chomper so we can smash our $1000 goal this school year! We are more than half-way there but need YOUR Box Tops to make it happen. If every student in school handed in 10 box tops in the next month, we d collect an additional $400! Note: Annie s Products now have Box Tops so if your family buys these popular products, please clip those Box Tops!
