Support for the Foundation is always appreciated, as it benefits the students in all our schools. Many of our teachers have applied and have been awarded grants. Here are some of the recipients and the grants received:
Here are some of the recipients and the grants received: Mrs. Toni Gamils-School Store, Books, Binders and Beyond, this project serves to enrich and teach life skills through mathematics. Mrs. Cyndi Anctil and Mrs. Carlene LoVecchio-Word Study Activities for Language Center, designed to build language skills for use in ELA centers or for independent study. Mrs. Connie Lodolo-SENTEO, Smart Response System, technology designed to assess, poll, or have a quick review of content. Mrs. Jessica O Hara-Math Centers, structured to provide review and enrichment, allowing students to approach math in an engaging and interactive way. These are some of the grants awarded, and we are very grateful to the Eastchester School Foundation for its generosity and commitment to supporting education. On March 7 th, the Foundation will be sponsoring an Open House from 7-9pm at the American Legion Hall to showcase its role in our schools and community. address dkonkus@eastchester.k12.ny.us Telephone # ext MAIN OFFICE Fax # (914)
EASTCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL EGO The Eastchester High School EGO, along with members of the Human Rights Club, Habitat For Humanity, and the middle school's Student Council and Art Club, is sponsoring two initiatives in support of those devastated by the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. The first is a One-Day Collection on Wednesday, February 27, to raise funds for the Newtown Sandy Hook Elementary School. The teachers will have the ability to fund classroom-specific projects and to buy materials such as books and shelves for a reading, nook, art supplies for a mosaic or seeds for a memorial garden. This effort is in conjunction with DonorsChoose.org/Newtown and is supported by the Connecticut Commissioner of Education, Superintendent of Schools for Newtown, AFT President (American & Connecticut) and the local Newtown Federation of Teachers. The second is a district-wide Candlelight Vigil to be scheduled sometime in March/April. The theme will be 26 Acts of Kindness. Specific details and date will be announced. If you would like to donate to our One-Day Collection, please send your check, made payable to EHS EGO, Attention Phyllis Rothschild at Eastchester High School. Please indicate Newtown in the memo section. Thank you for your continued support.
Parent please take note of the P.E. and You" newsletter that can be found on the Greenvale School web site each first week of the month. The ever so popular EMS Annual Spring Clothing Drive has changed date. The district calendar shows the date as Saturday May 18th. However, due to scheduling conflicts, this event has been rescheduled for SATURDAY MAY 11, Please mark your calendars and keep us in mind when doing your spring cleaning! ATTENTION PARENTS: The Lost & Found Cabinet is filled with unclaimed clothing articles and lunch bags. Most of these items are not labeled with the child s name so we cannot readily identify the owner and return his/her property. Please label all coats, jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, bags, etc., with your child s full name. Either you or your child can check the Lost & Found cabinet which is located just inside the double doors to the school. Any unclaimed items will be sent to good will over the break. Thank you for your cooperation.
Nurse's Corner NYS mandates that students who will be entering the 4th grade in September, 2013, must submit a current Physical Exam Report signed and dated after 9/2012. It is also recommended that you make an appointment for your child to see his or her dentist. Medical and dental forms will soon be mailed to you. Students who will be entering the 6th grade in September, 2013, will soon be receiving a letter regarding the administration of a DTaP vaccine. For your convenience, copies of these forms can be obtained from the Health Office or they can be downloaded from the WEB site. Please call me at , ext. 5313, if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you, Nina Feiman, RN
