HOME GROUP JOB DESCRIPTION 1 JOB DETAILS Job Title: Assistant Finance Business Partner (Care & Support) Reports to: Finance Business Partne Date: Ref: HOMEJD235 2 JOB PURPOSE Based centrally this role is expected to support the Finance Business Partner to provide strong financial support to the Care & Support including the provision of management accounts and reporting at a budget holder and regions. The role needs to ensure that there is effective budgetary control by reviewing variances and challenging budget holders to maintain control over their cost base. The role is responsible for leading the budget and reforecast process and to provide high quality and consistent financial advice, training and support. 3 DIMENSIONS Production of management information for a range of internal and external stakeholders for the Care & support business with a turnover and revenue cost base of over 120 million p.a. Professional support to the Care & Support Finance Team and operational colleagues Direct / indirect staff reports: 0 4 ORGANISATION CHART 5 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Part Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) or part qualified with considerable relevant experience Considerable experience in providing management

accounts and other financial analysis and commentary to inform business decision making Strong technical accounting skills with an ability to critically analyse and interpret financial information and discuss the implications with customers Supporting the Line Manager to write reports and presentations for consideration by Management / Leadership Teams Ability to prioritise workload, co-ordinate activities of the finance colleagues and work under pressure to meet reporting deadlines Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrable ability to communicate finance issues clearly to non finance staff at all levels Demonstrable ability to manipulate large volumes of transactions whilst maintaining the accuracy of the resulting information An experienced user of integrated financial systems and well developed skills using standard MS Office applications particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint Flexible in terms of willingness to travel and ability to operate in a changing environment Can demonstrate understanding of the wider organisation and business context to enable effective contribution to operational and strategic issues. Collaboratively supports and role models the one organisation approach Significant experience of working in a service oriented sector where service excellence is paramount Confidence to constructively challenge senior colleagues on their financial performance and management 6 Reporting and Financial Analysis To ensure there is regular reporting in place to senior leaders on the overall performance of Care & Support, including: o Consolidated monthly management reports and accounts with appropriate narrative highlighting financial performance and areas to consider going forward o Budgeting and forecasts o Key performance indicators To support the Finance Manager in ensuring that the financial reports produced by Care and Support: o Accurately reflect the financial performance of Care & Support o Comply with the relevant accounting standards o Meet the deadlines required for Home Group to produce timely reports o Are reported in a way which clearly facilitates 2

performance monitoring and aids decision making To produce accurate, timely monthly management accounts with a particular emphasis on reviewing the overall performance of Care & Support To support the Finance Manager in ensuring that the external audit of Care & Support is well planned and executed To produce other financial information as required by the budget holders, business leaders, seniors leaders, Executive Director or Line Manager To support the Finance Manager in ensuring that the monthly financial results can be reported in different ways meeting the requirements of the Care & Support business Budgetary control and variance analysis To facilitate high quality budgetary control across Care & Support. This will involve meetings with Head of Finance (Care & support), Senior Finance Business Partners (Care & Support) and Finance Manager (Care & Support) to review financial performance. To ensure high quality financial information is prepared for all central departments within Care & Support. To provide any other information as required by the Line Manager relating to budgetary control and variance analysis. KPI s To collate and submit the KPI information for Care & Support in line with the Group timetable To collate and submit the performance reporting information for Care & Support in line with Group timetable for inclusion in the Executive Performance Report To report on any movements from KPI targets in the monthly management reports To produce other KPI information as required by the budget holders, business leaders, seniors leaders or Line Manager. Budgeting & forecasting Ensure that there is appropriate first line support and training to budget holders in the production of the budgets and forecasts To work with Care & Support Finance to ensure that budget holders are provided with appropriate financial analysis and guidance to undertake the budgeting and forecasting exercise. Ensure that there is appropriate constructive challenge to ensure that budgets submitted are robust and reasonable. 3

Support the Line Manager with check off meetings with the relevant Executive Director and Senior Leaders to confirm the proposed budgets within their area. Lead the consolidation of an overall analysis of the proposed budget for Care & Support for inclusion in corporate reporting to Executive and Board To lead on the loading and reconciliation of budgets and forecasts into the general ledger Long Term Planning Work with the Finance Manager and Head of Finance to collate information required for the long term financial plan. Financial Control Responsible for ensuring that all Care & Support balance sheet codes are reconciled in a timely manner, ensuring that all reconciliations are complete and accurate To work with the Finance Manager to ensure any recommendations from Business Assurance are implemented in a timely manner To identify and highlight any key risks and contribute to the development of controls and actions to mitigate against the risks. To support Finance Manager and Finance colleagues investigate where fraud is suspected in projects, referring to Business Assurance or completing the investigations as appropriate. To report all such findings to the Head of Finance and Business Assurance. To ensure all recommendations are carried out and improved procedures/policies introduced where required Finance Training & Support To deliver or facilitate the provision of training courses to operational colleagues, covering all areas of the company s financial procedures To be actively involved in developing and maintaining the training material To be actively involved in reviewing training courses and providing input into the development of new courses as and when required Value for Money As part of the Care & Support Finance Team participate in the effective benchmarking of services between regions Support the Head of Finance (Care & Support) and Finance Manager (Care & Support) in the development and maintenance of the Care & Support pricing structure To support the Finance Manager in the monitoring of 4

service charge expenditure in ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory controls To support the Finance Manager (Care & Support) in the preparation of benchmarking of Care & Support with its peers Systems To support the Financial Analyst (Care & Support) to ensure there is cover within Care & Support in the preparation of key financial tools, including but not limited to the budget modellers Other Responsibilities Prepare analysis for review as part of the external audit. Review the financial statements / other information on current / potential key suppliers highlighting to colleagues in procurement any areas of concern. Prepare benchmarking analysis on Care & Support for consideration to identify areas for potential cost reduction. To monitor and review the standard of financial procedures and control within Care & support Finance and update policies and procedures as required ensuring all key tasks are documented.
