A progressive 21 st century addiction charity JOB DESCRIPTION ROLE TITLE: Marketing Officer COMPETENCY LEVEL: Officer PRIMARY BASE: Manchester City Centre ACCOUNTABLE TO: Communications and Development Manager STAFF MANAGEMENT: None SALARY: Grade 3 ( 16,979 19,210) HOURS: 35 hour week PURPOSE OF JOB To support the development and delivery of projects in the communications strategy through well planned and well executed marketing activity. Duties and Responsibilities Marketing campaigns To work directly with service areas to develop marketing strategies to address complex issues and target hard to reach groups. To support the corporate approach to internal communications and the modernisation programme. To provide marketing advice to ADS staff, particularly with high profile corporate campaigns.

To research new marketing techniques to enable ADS to better engage the wider public, increase engagement with services and enhance the reputation of ADS. Successfully deliver a personal portfolio of marketing campaigns working with and allocating tasks to colleagues within the team and across ADS to achieve agreed targets to a high standard. Offering advice, support and design input regarding the most appropriate marketing mix for the target audience, utilising digital channels first wherever possible. To advise on and deliver the content, layout, copy, design and production of marketing collateral for projects ensuring all information (print and digital) is presented accurately, to a high standard, in the appropriate tone of voice and in line with ADS brand guidelines. To utilise ADS social media channels to deliver key marketing campaigns and messages. To improve all digital communications, working alongside the Digital Officer, to enhance ADS reputation and raise awareness of important issues. To monitor and review the success of identified marketing activity making recommendations to the Communications and Development Manager for continuous improvement and addressing areas of concern promptly and effectively. To work with departments to ensure compelling, engaging content for marketing materials tailored to the relevant audience. To research best practice in Private/Public/Third Sector marketing and regularly benchmark our activity against this. Support the development of the ADS Communications strategy. To be an active member of the ADS Business Executive Support Team and play a key role in its delivery. To champion ADS local services. To undertake any other duties commensurate to the role as required by the Communications and Development Manager. Events and hosted networking Prepare materials for planning meetings, take minutes as required. Contribute to the project plan and preparation of checklists. Research audiences as agreed with the Communications and Development Manager. Research venues and catering, supplier liaison as required. Internal communication and diary co-ordination. Partner and speaker liaison as appropriate and in conjunction with the Communications and Development Manager.

Draft invitation copy and liaise with the Digital Officer to ensure quality work is delivered on time and to budget. Co-ordinate the distribution of invitations, monitor responses, manage follow ups and manage cancellations. Prepare supporting materials (literature packs, promotional merchandise, delegate lists, name badges, place names, table plans etc). Event set up and clear down. Prepare safety information for speaker and staff. Greet and manage delegates. Networking as appropriate and co-ordinate follow up activity, monitor referrals, actions, work won. Measure and report outcomes. Internet and Email Marketing Manage email distribution list including new subscriptions, opt-outs and bounce backs. Assist in monitoring the market for developments of significance. Edit and / or draft articles for the e-news as required. Upload articles to website using the Content Management System, adding the necessary links. Compose emails ensuring the correct formatting is in place. Distribute e-news to contacts and staff. Draft copy for the website, liaise with web hosting company to ensure changes are made in an accurate and timely manner. Provide assistance in developing internet presence, improving search rankings, help to develop a social media strategy in conjunction with the Communications Team to improve visibility over time. Literature and stationery Monitor stock levels and in conjunction with the ADS Admin Team. Handle deliveries, checking accuracy and quality of goods, co-ordinate the distribution of materials between Services. Contribute ideas for new campaigns and supporting literature. Draft copy and design ideas for new literature in conjunction with the Communications Team. Proof reading. Collate suitable imagery and create a photographer s brief where bespoke imagery is required. Prepare literature packs as required, primarily for prospect meetings and distribution at events.

Prepare distribution lists, plan and manage the distribution process as appropriate. Public Relations Help identify and research suitable client and internal stories. Research suitable media outlets, editors and presenters as required (e.g. printed and online press, social media, trade press, TV and radio) Internal communications Collate internal news stories from ADS. Contributing to the implementing, planning and draft of the bi-annual ADS magazine. Prepare marketing statistics and information on referrals, introductions, networking activity, events, press releases and new clients. Work with the Communications Team to agree content and check accuracy of the magazine before distributing to staff. Help to keep the intranet up-to-date, adding images, news and documents as required working alongside the Digital Officer. Contribute to the ongoing development and monitoring of internal relations and brand management. Marketing processes and standards Comply with marketing standards and follow set processes for routine work. Assist with the development of marketing processes over time. Contribute ideas for improving marketing standards and processes. Miscellaneous administrative duties Prepare and distribute supporting materials for management and ad-hoc meetings. Prepare literature packs and bound copies of marketing materials and proposals as required. Company research as required for Partners. Other duties and responsibilities Execute the responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards that uphold, safeguard and promote the vision and values of the charity. To actively engage in ongoing personal and professional development, making full use of supervision, appraisal and learning opportunities. To seek advice, support and guidance as required. To be an active participant in ADS groups, meetings and events.

To be flexible in supporting the needs of the organisation, including the provision of cover and support to colleagues within other ADS services when required. To collaborate with, and ensure relevant feedback to ADS staff. To attend ADS meetings as requested. To establish and agree objectives for the year and monitor these through supervision. To undertake all responsibilities with due regard to ADS Equality & Diversity policy. To assist in the induction process for new colleagues. To undertake such other tasks as may reasonably be requested by your line manager. Travel will be required across the ADS footprint. NOTE: The above job description is designed to give an overview of the tasks and responsibilities for this position. The Communications department will however evolve and grow over time to meet practice and market demands. The selected individual will be expected to embrace such changes and rise to the challenge of developing their skills over time.
