The Network and Sharing Center This window shows if and what your computer is connected to, both by cable and wireless. You can use this window later to ensure you are on the correct network. In this window you have to select "Manage wireless networks" in the "Tasks" menu on the left. Configuring Eduroam in Windows Vista - 2
Manage Wireless Networks Click the "Add" button in this window. This will bring up the window to manually connect to a wireless network. Manually connect to a wireless network Select the option "Manually create a network profile". Configuring Eduroam in Windows Vista - 3
Network name, security, and encryption In the "Network name:" field, type in "Eduroam". The "Security type:" field should be set to "WPA2-Enterprise" on all computers that supports it. (Select WPA-Enterprise if your computes does not support WPA2-Enterprise) The "Encryption type:" field should be set to AES. (If you chose WPA-Enterprise as Security type you have to choose TKIP as encryption type) Click Next Configuring Eduroam in Windows Vista - 4

Eduroam wireless network properties Security tab The option to "Cache user information for subsequent connections to this network" is used to authenticate automatically. PEAP and Certificate settings Click the "Settings..." button in the "Eduroam Wireless Network properties" window to bring up the "Protected EAP Properties" window. Check "Connect to these servers:" Fill inn "gople.himolde.no" In the "Protected EAP Properties" window, make sure the "Validate server certficate" is checked. Now check "AddTrust External CA Root" as certficate in "Trusted Root Certification Authoroties" Now click on the "Configure..." button to bring up the "EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties" window. Remove the check in front of "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password". Click "OK" in the "EAP MSCHAPv2", and the "Protected EAP Properties" window. Authenticating to log on to Eduroam In the "User name:" field, type in your user name. Students use "studentnumber@stud.himolde.no" as user name. Employees use "username@himolde.no" as user name. Type inn your password in the "Password:" field. Leave the "Logon domain:" field blank. Click "OK". Validate Server Certificate The first time you connect you might get the "Validate Server Certificate" question.
