6 Dpogfsfodf!Tqfblfst! John Herbst is former United States Ambassador to Ukraine and current Director of the National Defense University Center for Complex Operations. He has worked as a political counselor at the US embassies in Tel Aviv, Israel, Moscow, Russia, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has also worked as the Director of Regional Affairs in the Near East Bureau of the United States State Department, as Director of the Office of Independent States and Commonwealth Affairs, as Principal Deputy to the Ambassador-atlarge for the Newly Independent States, and as US Consul General in Jerusalem. He was appointed Ambassador to Uzbekistan in 2000, and to Ukraine in 2003. Ihor Kozak was born and raised in Ukraine. He graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada with a Bachelor degree in Engineering and a Master degree in Administration. As an officer with the Canadian Forces he served internationally, participating in numerous diplomatic missions under the auspices of Canada, the US, EU, UN, and NATO. Mr. Kozak is a recipient of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award in 2011. Stephen Larrabee, PhD, holds the Distinguished Chair in European Security at the RAND Corporation. Before joining RAND, Larrabee served as vice president and director of studies of the Institute of East West Security Studies in New York from 1983 to 1989. He was a distinguished Scholar in Residence at the Institute from 1989 to 1990. From 1978 to 1981, Larrabee served on the U.S. National Security Council staff in the White House as a specialist on Soviet East European affairs and East-West politicalmilitary relations. Larrabee has taught at Columbia, Cornell, New York, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, and The George Washington universities, and at the University of Southern California. Lubomyr Luciuk, PhD, is Professor of Political Geography in the Department of Politics and Economics at the Royal Military College of Canada, specializing in Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union. He is the author or editor of over a dozen books and almost 200 opinion editorials published in Canadian newspapers, as well as a frequent commentator on the CBC, National Public Radio (USA) and BBC. Recently he served as chairman (pro

7 tempore) of the Department of Politics and Economics at the Royal Military College of Canada, the first Canadian of Ukrainian heritage to enjoy this distinction. Valentyn Nalyvaichenko is a Ukrainian diplomat, political figure and statesman. Mr. Nalyvaichenko was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2004 and Ambassador to Belarus in December 2005. In May 2006 he was appointed to the position of First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine and in December 2006, Mr. Nalyvaichenko became Acting Head of the SBU. In 2010 he became Chairman of the political council of Our Ukraine. He is the Founder of CV National Renewal. Volodymyr S. Ohryzko, PhD, is a Ukrainian diplomat, political analyst and Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. As Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ohryzko conducted strategic negotiations on the issue of the Russian Navy Fleet on the Black Sea and he supported Georgia in the conflict with the Russian Federation. He received the Order of Honor in Georgia. Amanda Paul is Policy Analyst and Programme Executive and Administrator of EPC Programs on EU's Eastern Neighborhood, Turkey and the Eurasia Region at the European Policy Centre. Ms. Paul is a specialist in geopolitical and foreign policy. She writes twice-weekly columns for the Turkish Daily, Today s Zaman, on issues related to Turkey, Russian foreign policy and the Eurasian region. She also contributes to numerous other periodicals, including the Financial Times, EU Observer, Kyiv Post, and New Europe, and provides expert commentary on BBC, Al-Jazeera, CNN, CNBC, Deutsche Welle. Jan Pieklo is Director of Polish Ukrainian Cooperation Foundation [PAUCI]. An experienced NGO professional and journalist, Jan has spent many years dedicated to international cooperation and development. With deep interest in Ukrainian and regional issues, he has successfully worked to broaden Polish-Ukrainian and regional cooperation, particularly as a former Director of the Bridges to the East Institute for the Krakow-based ZNAK Foundation

8 Andrew Robinson is currently a Distinguished Senior Fellow, Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University, Canada. Ambassador Robinson does consulting work related to international relations and stability operations and is a member of the community of experts of the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre. As Canada s envoy in Kyiv during the Orange Revolution, Ambassador Robinson led Canada s diplomatic efforts in support of free and fair elections in Ukraine. James Sherr is a Senior Fellow, Russian and Eurasia Program, Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House). He is also a Member of the Faculty of Social Studies at Oxford University. In addition to regularly advising the UK, EU and NATO and partner countries on Russia, Ukraine and the Black Sea region, Prof. Sherr has had a long-standing relationship with the defense and security community in Ukraine. Oleksandr Sushko, PhD, is Research Director at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Co-operation. Prior to that, Dr. Sushko served as coordinator of the Monitoring Programme (1999-2000), political analyst (1998-1999), Director of the Center for Peace, Conversion and Foreign Policy of Ukraine, Kyiv (2000-2006). He holds a PhD in international relations. Dr. Sushko was a Visiting Fellow at Freedom House and Monterey Centre for Nonproliferation Studies. His fields of interest include European integration, EU-Ukraine relations, NATO-Ukraine relations, Ukrainian foreign and domestic policies and security studies. Walter Zaryckyj, PhD, is Executive Director of the Center for US- Ukrainian Relations and "Ukraine's Quest for Mature Nation Statehood Roundtable Series" Program Coordinator. He concurrently holds the rank of Adjunct Associate Professor of Social Sciences at New York University. Dr. Zaryckyj completed his undergraduate and graduate work at Columbia University.
