Our diverse faculty members are recognized across Canada for their expertise and award winning research and teaching. At the GSPIA we are not merely observers and analysts: we are in the centre of the action. A focal point for debate and reflection on public and international affairs in the heart of Canada s capital At the University of Ottawa, public policy is a passion. Located a stone s throw from Parliament Hill, the school is on the front lines of public debate, nationally and internationally. As Canada s University we play host to numerous conferences, seminars and public events. The only bilingual school of public and international affairs in Canada At the GSPIA, most courses are taught in both official languages. In an increasingly competitive world, we believe bilingualism is a major asset for our students.

3 Masters Program in Public and International Affairs The Master s program in Public and International Affairs offers a multi-disciplinary, cutting-edge education for those who want to pursue careers or graduate studies in public policy, international affairs or international development. An understanding of the increasingly complex problems facing governments and societies today, including international security, globalization and economic and social development, now requires a background in a variety of disciplines ranging from political science to history via economics, sociology and philosophy. With its focus on core courses that give students the foundation essential to an in depth study of public and international affairs, the program s first year provides the knowledge and tools needed to analyze contemporary issues in public and international affairs. The second year consists of advanced seminars on more specialized themes, grouped into three fields of concentration: public policy, international affairs and development studies, in addition to completing a research paper. The participation of distinguished professionals and its location in the National Capital ensure that the program s courses uniquely combine academic rigour with teaching based on professional experience. GSPIA offers merit and admission scholarships as well as teaching and research assistantships.
