Responsibilities include the administration of five programs that enable people with disabilities to live independently in their community of choice. Budget responsibilities range from $17-21 million annually. The Independent Living Rehabilitation Program is a statewide program with 16 field offices. Other programs are the North Carolina Assistive Technology program, ACCESS NC, Latino Outreach, and the Service Animal Registration and Education program. Additional responsibilities include developing and strengthening statewide collaborative opportunities, particularly with the aging and disability communities.
