Faraday News 27 th November 2015 It is all systems go at Faraday from next week as far as the Christmas Productions and Music Concert are concerned. The children are all working hard to learn their lines and songs and I am learning them too, by default, as I move around the school! All the class teachers have now sent home the costume requirements for all Christmas Performances. If you haven t received the details please let your class teacher know as soon as possible and we will resend the details to you. Thank you all in anticipation of your help. Louise sent out a google form on 15 th November so that we could let you know what the arrangements are for the end of term (buses, after school care, last day of term, school concerts and productions) and to give us an idea of how many parents will be attending each event. If you haven t already filled this in, please could you do so over the weekend so that we can begin the final planning for the last week of term. The deadline is 4 th December but the earlier we know the better. Thank you to those parents who have already returned the form. Several parents have questioned me about attending the Music Concert. The music concert is only for the parents of pupils who learn an instrument at school (The Guitar Groups, Piano and Drums) or sing in the choir. I also asked parents if they would let me know if they are interested in using a car park for the afternoon of the two concerts. The minimum number of cars I need to operate this facility is 20 cars per afternoon, and so far I have had three responses. If you would like to have a space on either of the afternoons please can you let me know by Monday at the latest so that I can confirm with the local council who have offered us this facility. Parents phoning into school in the last few days will have noticed that we now have a new telephone system operating at Faraday School and for the school buses. We had outgrown our previous system and needed more incoming lines and a reliable answering service. We now have the facility to text all parents with one text message from the school and bus mobile phones. This will save a lot of time, and angst for parents, in the event that there is a change to the bus collection or delivery service. The telephone numbers remain the same except for one of the bus phones and Louise has sent the details of this change to the parents using the bus service. Finally, I am delighted to learn that John Caunt is undertaking the London Marathon next year in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK. It is always good to raise funds for a cause where there is a personal interest. We wish John all the best as he undertakes this arduous challenge and I do hope that we can, as a school community, find innovative and fun ways to support John in his fundraising. I hope that you all have a good weekend.

Year 5/6 visit Cluequest On Wednesday Year 5-6 went to Cluequest which is a game where we had to find keys to unlock doors. We had to work together to find keys to open a padlock to solve a range of puzzles to get out of a room. We had to look inside things, under objects, up high and down low to find the most minute clues for the puzzle. We moved a rocket up once we found the missing links to get to a satellite and looked inside and it said 'kaboom' so we typed 'kaboom' into the computer as the destruction code and destroyed the satellite. We had to work as secret agents to destroy the satellite before the human minds were destroyed! This challenge was only 60 minutes long and very intense. We would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who's up for a challenge! A huge thank you to Helen Corry for her thought and generosity for our class. Miss Gimblett

Clubs & Music Lessons Music Lessons Just a reminder that we have a second piano teacher and 1:1 guitar teacher starting in January if anyone is interested in lessons. They will be held during school time and the cost will be 17 per 30 minute lesson. Miss Gimblett Sewing Club If any more year 3-6 children would like to join sewing club in the spring term there are a couple more spaces. Please let me know asap and I'll add you to the list. Miss Gimblett Mr Caunt's Marathon Challenge... On the 24th April 2016, I will be running the Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK. Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading Dementia Research Charity. There is currently around 850,000 people suffering with dementia in the UK and it is predicted to increase to 1 million people by 2025. In the upcoming weeks and months, I will be doing fundraising events with the help of the school council to raise money for my chosen charity. To start off proceedings, there will be a non-uniform day on Friday 4th December, where pupils can bring in a 1 donation for this cause. Also there will be a 'penny pot' started up within school for pupils and parents to donate any unwanted loose change. To make a donation or to follow my training journey up to the marathon, please visit my page - http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/johncaunt - any donation is greatly appreciated no matter how small. Every little helps in raising money to help fund the charities research. Many Thanks Mr Caunt

Year 3 to be published!! Congratulations to the pupils in year 3! Mr Webb has received some exciting news at lunch time today informing him that year 3 are going to be published authors! We recently entered the 'Young Writers' Poetry Emotions competition with huge success! The competition itself received thousands of entries from all over the UK so we were up against fierce competition! Work was selected for publication based on perception, imagination, expression, creativity and use of language. This is a great achievement that the pupils and Faraday school can be proud of.
