Easy ways to fundraise with Bake for Heroes Afternoon Tea and Cake Invite your friends and neighbours round for afternoon tea and cake. Ask your guests to donate what they would normally spend in the local coffee shop. Tempting Tray Bakes Take a tray bake in to work and become the most popular person in the team trays of brownies, flapjacks or tiffin are always well received. Suggest a donation of 1 a slice. Bumper Breakfast Baskets Put on a spread of breakfast baskets, offering Danish pastries, croissants and rolls at work (for a donation, of course). Cocktails and Cake Enjoy a slice of cake and a cocktail (or two). Ask your guests to dress up and donate what they would normally spend on a night out. Decorating Competition Organise a competition in which participants decorate cupcakes or gingerbread men and then sell them. Hold a Hero Bake Off Have a bake off at work. Ask a group of colleagues to each make some goodies and bring them into the office get donations and vote for a winner! Roll Up, Roll Up Have a stall at your local market. Get the local community involved or rally family and friends (and friends of friends!) to bake for you. Hold a Bake Sale In 2014, schools and locals in the Winchester area held cake sales. Altogether, their joint effort raised an incredible 7,000! Get kids involved Hold a cake sale at school or at a youth group combine it with obtaining a club badge or link it to the school curriculum. Buy them, sell them If everyone is too busy to bake, why not ask everyone to buy something and have a little tea party in exchange for a donation? Your only limit is your imagination! Our supporters can be very creative and we d love to hear your ideas. Register your plans and we ll send you a free fundraising pack containing collection boxes, pricing stickers, balloons and bunting. Just visit or contact our Supporter Relationship Team on or

Phoenix House Recovery Centre hosted a bake off event for beneficiaries. Diana Beard from the Great British Bake Off gave them instructions and helped to judge the winner with a couple of representatives from the local WI.

Useful things to remember Permits, licencing and raffles Bite-size bake ideas from our lovely supporters If you are holding an event in a public place, please make sure you have permission from the building or land owner or a licence to collect on the street from your local county council. Raffles are a fantastic way of raising more money. Please make sure you have a licence or a permit to cover you holding a raffle you can check this with your local council. Usually a small scale raffle using cloakroom tickets at a private event will not require a licence, but please check. Sue organised her annual Bake event in Colchester. Sue said We could not do this without the generosity of local businesses and the people of Colchester. Paul organised another great event in Clacton Town Centre, with supporters baking and selling thousands of cakes raising almost 3,000. Nathalie is holding her third Bake for Heroes event. She will be baking up a storm at her workplace in France with friends and colleagues. Mildenhall care home held a bake off testing airmen s and carers skills. Raising 350 the day was a great success! Diana visited Phoenix House Recovery Centre to give a group of veterans top tips in creating a Show-stopper. Year 6 pupils from Avishayes Primary School raised 260 by organising a cake sale at their school. Best Practice Health and Safety Visit the Food Standards website for more information and advice.

Have a go at being creative Send in the dough! As the saying goes, the first bite is with your eyes! The eating experience is not just about taste, but is about tapping in to our different senses. The smell of freshly-baked bread and warm chocolate cake can lift spirits, and who can resist a patisserie shop window full of cream cakes and tasty treats?! Make your display of baked goods as appealing as you can or create a show stopping cake that will tempt people s taste buds and hopefully have people coming back for more. You don t have to be an expert baker or naturally creative just have a go! Don t forget to click here to enter our Best Looking Cake Competition for the chance to win a Kenwood kmix, kindly donated by Debenhams. Don t forget to send us the money you raise from all your hard work! Registered events being held between mid-march and mid-may will receive a Payzone Card, which can be used at any Post Office in the UK to pay in the money you raised. The card will be sent to you shortly before your event. Full instructions will be included. If your event is outside this period, please click here for a form for paying in money. Please ensure that you include your registration number on any correspondence if you have registered, or mention that you have taken part in a Bake for Heroes event. Please also include your name and address so that we can acknowledge receipt of your money. Thank you! We also have a great selection of cake toppers that can be created to add a bit of H4H flair to your creations. Look the part with our Baking Bear apron and accessories or check out our full range of clothing at the H4H online shop.

The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support the wounded, injured and sick, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and Help for Heroes will not let them battle alone. By taking part in Bake for Heroes, you are helping us to offer continued support for life. Thank you so much for your support. Together, rebuilding lives
